Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
New Project from the creators of Paisley and Tulip.
Depending on the price this could be my first deck from them. Launching in April.

Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
Nice back, lovely AoS, jokers aren't bad. But another JAB job. At least they recoloured the courts to fit the theme. But I feel it's a missed opportunity to incorporate the leaves theme into the courts like what Organic PC does with their Fruit Salad decks. As such, anything more than $10-$12 for this is going to be too much.
I just hope they don't put "perfect for magicians!" as their reason why the courts are not tweaked. If I hear it's perfect for magicians, I'm expecting a marked deck, as this point of playing card design and development. Taking a look at the backs, it can fairly easy to be done on the corner with the lines on the leaves and the circles.

Dunno about Tulip but Paisley had a marked version so, it might be marked.

The back design isn't bad, but I don't like the court colors.

Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
I'm really a fan of the Paisley decks by Dutch Card House, but something about the Leaves deck just doesn't speak to me. I think the shades of green on the back just don't make it pop enough, maybe it just needs some contrast.

Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
For some reason, they just don't change the courts at all for this, the Tulip, and the Paisley series. It's only the Diamon series that are the most customized. Besides, their aftermarket prices are unusually high...

Fan of the Tulip decks here, and these were my exact thoughts as well.CollectADeck wrote:I'm really a fan of the Paisley decks by Dutch Card House, but something about the Leaves deck just doesn't speak to me. Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
Simple backs = nice. Boring standard "custom" courts = HELL no. Give me actual designed courts with higher contrast card backs and I'm in.

yup, not once, but 2x!
"Perfect for every card enthusiast, magician and cardist, these cards maintain a classic and professional look."
"The court cards maintain their traditional designs, but are merged with the colour composition to create a whole, fully custom deck of cards suitable for every Card Game, Magic Tricks and Cardistry! "
And they even claimed that it's "a whole, fully custom deck of cards" !
No, to make that claim I'm expecting Organic style courts or at least Lorenzo's courts for the Ravn deck, where he modernized the courts. (Dan Schieder's is barely noticeable.)
At the very least, I've got to give them props for going all out to make it environmentally friendly with no cellowrap and a paper seal. So that could somewhat justify the cost of using the special paper stock and inks.
Gotta wonder how that's going to survive shipping without scratches and tears. Anyone who backed this, would be nice to see pics of the decks looks after shipping.

Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
Almost pledged for a deck during the early bird because of the back design, and the Aces and Jokers do look nice (though there should be an owl peeking out of the second tree, don't you think?), but the phrase "standard courts" slowed me down when I logged back in to order up. And then I remembered I wasn't sure how durable that paper's going to be. (What's the experience been like on other decks using it?) And then the early bird was over.
P.S. Am I guessing right in thinking the JAB in "another JAB job" is an acronym meaning they just did Jokers, Aces, and backs? Sorry, still new

Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
AFAIK it's the same stock as Theory11's decks or for example Forest deck by Orbit Brown. Personally I haven't noticed significantly lower durability when compared to standard Bicycles.markzero wrote: ... And then I remembered I wasn't sure how durable that paper's going to be. Re: Leaves Playingcards by Dutch Card House Company
As far as I know, it's the same stock that all Orbit decks and a lot of Art of Play decks use as well. I've read that ad copy "paper from sustainable forests, vegetable based ink, starch based varnish" sooooo often that I don't even care anymore. So, I would concur that it has the same durability like bikes.
