TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek LIVE on KS
UPDATE: 450% FUNDED still 27 days to go!
KS link:
https://www.wake.video/tempest
After many iterations and tweaks we've arrived at a design we are both really happy with. A spiritual successor to the Parlour, The Tale of the Tempest tells the story of an early 20th century magician who's world travelling tour found itself shipwrecked on a desolate island. More info to come in the near future. Expect lots of great surprises and the same level of quality you can always expect from the TGW brand. Looking to print with USPCC although we still haven't committed. Kickstarter campaign to launch sometime in the next month or two. Dates will be announced!

I'm surprised there's no foil for a lotrek deck

You can expect additional versions to feature foil (as with the Parlour) as we unlock stretch goals.

Beautiful back design. USPCC ftw. Good luck with the project!

I'm surprised you think there's only going to be one version of this. My guess is 5, minimum. Gilded, mini, etc.

You are literally the reason I started collecting, bud.
Late night YouTube rabbit hole somehow led me to you, and showed me that there was more than random themed Bicycle decks.
Consider me a backer out of gratitude alone, and I hope you crush it.

I hope you are not printing the foiled decks with USPCC. I think Jody Eklund couldn’t do ink under the metalluxe for Sovereign, resulting a change in design.
EPCC/LPCC would be great for hot foil

Awesome design, as usual, by Lotrek. From Lorenzo Gaggiotti to Lotrek, it's like dating the most beautiful women in the world for TGW!

Pity you can't do it on the same stock as Parlour, but "all in" anyway!

Can’t wait for this one! I reckon it’ll be the biggest campaign of the year for sure.

Re: TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek
In love with the back design, it's even better than the first draft. I definitely prefer Cartamundi over USPCC but honestly don't care much either way! I missed The Parlour because in the few hours between the email being sent out about the Collector's Set and me seeing it they were all gone, I ended up having to pay market prices later, but I'll definitely try to keep a better eye out this time if the structure is going to be similar because it feels better to be part of the campaign lol.

Re: TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek
I can't help but feel that the back is missing... something. Maybe it's the two-tone colorway. Maybe it's because the design seems to scream "FOIL." I don't know. It's by no means bad, but I'm not nearly as high as everyone else seems to be. Regardless, excited to see the rest, the lore behind the design is intriguing.

That's the problem with my renderings. They're always inferior to the finished product. The back design is amazing. At first glance for a second it looked like one of the 3D decks you see in the wild. The deep blacks look really deep giving that 3D visual effect. Definitely backing right out the gate

The back design reminds me of what you would get if Grotesk merged with Parlor. Just hope that there aren't as many variants as Grotesk or my wallet will commit seppuku.

Re: TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek
I had never thought of the back as a merger of Grotesk and Parlor, but now that you mentioned it Eric, I kind of see your point.
While I am a fan of both Lotrek and TGW, a back is rarely enough to get me excited. I'll wait and see how the rest looks as well as pricing and options, etc...then we can talk.

Is there a chance that you will print with Cartamundi again? (Hoping for EU friendly fulfillment again ... )TheGentlemanWake wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 2:50 pmLooking to print with USPCC although we still haven't committed.

Beautiful. I like the hourglass implication in the design.

The way the foil brings out this design only highlights that something is missing with the contrast on the non-foil backs for me.

Re: TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek
I have a philosophy with the TGW decks. I want them to be playable and classic in feel. Of course we will have more eye-catching versions--but aim of the standard decks is not to be the center-point. The beauty of the design must be subtle and there for those who take the time to look into them. But when they are sitting on a gaming table or a magician's close-up pad they should feel inconspicuous despite the deep beauty.
