Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I like option one and two.
The last looks too much like a black and white deck (from the back obviously)
Option One is probably m favorite

As cool as number 3 looks, I do think number 1 fits the rest of the deck better.

I think the original grey back works better than any of the 3 above

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I enjoy 1 because brown is a common color assosiated with mustaches. Also, of all the colorful decks coming out lately, I think it's the least used, making it unique. But 3's good too

I like the Brown back version. The Brown doesn't clash with the Face colors and looks great next to them!
thanks, Randy

As much as a FedEx employee does not want to say it but Go Brown.

I think I'd be pretty happy with the brown version.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
The brown complements the warm colours of the faces, and the white mustaches on dark ground have a more op-art effect than the reverse of dark mustaches on white. I love op-art backs. Maybe you could go a little darker on the brown colour if the graphic quality of the black is still calling to you.
It would probably get too busy but have you tried incorporating the face colours into the mustache shapes on the back design? Just curious.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
brown seems to be the overwhelming favorite, so that's what I'm going with.
also, here's a peek at the style for the court cards...

One of the key attributes of this new deck is usability. It's designed to be a deck that people will actually want to pull out and use to play games. As a card player, it's already jarring to have a completely unfamiliar design to become accustomed to so I'm implementing consistency in the court card designs to make it easier to recognize what card you're looking at quickly. I like the idea of being able to immediately identify two different colored cards as jacks and not having to stare at the card for a while figuring out what i'm looking at.
Most people who play cards (even those who do so on a regular basis) can't tell you which suited court cards hold which weapons or other items. Many are probably completely unaware that there's a different design for the king of hearts and the king of diamonds in a standard bicycle deck. So while I understand the novelty of having completely different designs for each court card, it doesn't fit my intentions for this particular deck.

I think you have a low impression of the standard player. 1-eye jack, suicide king are key terms in card player's vocabulary even if it does not add something to the game.davegk wrote: Most people who play cards (even those who do so on a regular basis) are probably completely unaware that there's a different design for the king of hearts and the king of diamonds in a standard bicycle deck. Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
While I understand your argument that completely different courts may be jarring for the average simpleton of a player, I'm sure a simple hair and moustache color change wouldn't make their heads explode.
Also, Happy Birthday David!

And don't forget the sole one-eyed king... diamonds.MagikFingerz wrote:This.DukeBoy wrote:1-eye jack, suicide king are key terms in card player's vocabulary even if it does not add something to the game.
These cards are recognized in some games. As well as being called out as "wilds," if the situation calls for it.
