Why @RSLancastr is Batman while @Magic_Orthodoxy is only Robin - @RSLancastr shows court cards more often

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Here are a couple of decks I've gotten recently:
==========[ Headings ]==========
==========[ Ukrainian deck ]==========
==========[ Spanish-Suited_Round ]==========
==========[ Headings ]==========
==========[ Ukrainian deck ]==========
I know very little about this deck other than the fact that it is Ukrainian.
I purchased it on eBay a couple of months ago but misplaced it, only finding it and scanning some cards from it in this morning.
==========[ Spanish-Suited_Round ]==========
The cards look oval-shaped here, but they are actually perfectly round - I just distorted the scans.
The deck, a gift from a magician friend, is a Round, Spanish-suited deck, published by Heraclio Fournier of Vitoria, Spain.
Spanish-suited decks have suits of Copas (Cups), Oros (Gold Coins), Bastos (Cudgels) and Espadas (Swords), and have courts of Sotas (Peasants/Footsoldiers), Caballos (Knights/Mounted Soldiers) and Reis (Kings), which have indices of 10, 11 and 12.
There are 48 cards in the deck, with no jokers. The Additional card is an Advertising card for Fournier.

So THAT'S why it is so wet!!rave wrote:many hours of fun I have spent with this deck in the pool
I have a second copy (with a different back) that I purchased on eBay before I knew it was the same deck as the one my magician friend was giving me (he had described it as an "Italian-suited deck" (easy mistake to make)).
Why do you take THIS deck into the pool rather than some other deck (say, a plastic one)? Or is your copy of this deck made of plastic? (mine is not).
Have you ever been to the Fournier Playing Card Museum in Spain?
I hope to some day. I have the first two (or maybe three) volumes of their great Encyclopedia(?) of Playing Cards, and have spent hours upon hours drooling over the lovely decks pictured in them.
Also, I designed and created one card in a deck that was published in 2000, which is evidently on display in that museum - I would LOVE to see that display some day!

There's some copyrights issues that we have to discuss first and of course you need to pay me!!! Just kidding!!
Use it as you want!

In Spain, You can find Fournier Spanish decks at any store for about $ 3 - $ 5, the plastic ones are not as common, especially when I was younger ...
I've never been to the museum, I have pending. The museum is 900 km (660 miles) from my home.

Love the work of the artist, Vladislav Erko, especially in the 2012 deck from the same Kortschma Restaurant that published your deck.
If you have the first 3 volumes of the Fournier catalogue then the third one is one of the Spanish volumes? I would love to have the full set but as far as I have been able to find out only Volumes 1 and 2 were printed in English. Is it worth while if you don't read Spanish? Where did you find your Volumes 2 & 3?

Dazzle, all of my reference books are still packed away in boxes so I am not sure, but I know that my Volumes 1 & 2 are in English, and I think that my Volume 3 is in Spanish - I only read only un poquito Espanol, but I bought it anyway, mostly for the lovely pictures.If you have the first 3 volumes of the Fournier catalogue then the third one is one of the Spanish volumes? I am not positive where I bought them (this was between 1997-2000), but I seem to recall buying 2 & 3 from the U.S. Games Systems web site.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
It's a Deck made in China, but I'll always remember picking this one up. A few months ago I took my son, Aaron, to the Soldiers & Sailors Monumemt in downtown Indianapolis. We went up top to check out the view and I picked up the USA Posters of WW I & II Deck at the gift shop afterwards. Aaron picked out a toy and we spent the rest of the day downtown. He still remembers it every time we see a tall building or statue. God times!!
As for the Deck, I just setup a few of the different faces for the pic. All 50+ faces all have a unique WW I or II war poster as the hero. The Back's boring, but the faces are pretty cool.
Thanks, Randy

Very interesting! I love the aesthetic of those old posters. Also, nothing beats sentimental valueRandyButterfield wrote:It's a Deck made in China, but I'll always remember picking this one up. Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
It's not just you, walrus.
In a few days we are moving from our apartment to a house we are renting, about 8.5 miles away, so:
1) I have not been online very much, my attention being elsewhere, and
2) My budget for playing cards is non-existant for a while, so I have nothing to scan for this thread.
But thanks for noticing my absence!
On the plus side, we should have more storage in the new place, so I might have more room to store my collection!

just get the old ones off the shelf and scan those 2000 decks to match the new style of scanning you have started and start a new thread,RSLancastr wrote: On the plus side, we should have more storage in the new place, so I might have more room to store my collection!
