Seers V0

Unread post by Seers »

Hello, I was finally able to log into my skype after two years, my password suddenly came to mind and so I delved in, I found the ver first drafts of a deck before the Seers were made, these were in the forms of aces which had a single Spades ace with an eye, an ace of hearts and an ace of clubs. When I found these I was overcome with a desire to outdo 17 year old me, so I traced what I liked and removed what I did not and below I shall show what I have got. I really like this idea I am nowhere near done yet, but I think it is the start of something fun!

There was originally no back design, so I made a new one over this past week, I think it is amusingly abstract and is outside of what I have done before. I hope you guys at least find amusement if nothing else. Would any of you be interested in a deck of these? Shall I keep going with them?
Back Design
Back Design
The back features slightly more subtle eye motifs than our other decks with more lines to fill in the gaps which are on the Aspectu to accommodate fanning patterns, and I think it has a fun look to it, what are your thoughts? I will include a render of the deck below for a very quick look into what it fits like on the back of a deck. Do you have any colour ideas I am happy to try anything you guys think will work!

These aces were not as bad as I was expecting from the younger me, I have developed quite a bit since I was 17 given I have now got three decks under my belt with a fourth soon to finish printing. but what do you think of these? I like them.

Thanks for your time all,

Jason

I like that back! I'm not that good with colors, but it definitely needs some.

Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks MagikFingerz, it is always nerve racking showing something you've been working on because it could go very very badly, I am glad you like the back, I shall play with some colours when the back is finished, I don't know what to add to it yet, but I shall try my hardest to make it good!

Thanks,

Jason

Like the blue and red back. Others too bland with just one color.

I agree more colors is more fun with this design. Although, a single color with black and white combined could be pretty cool depending on what elements are highlighted with white and what are done in black. Looks fun whatever the case. :)

So is that one fine without more colour added? Not trying to be lazy as it sounds, I am just wanting to know whether to leave the area out of lines white which I think looks quite clean and holds the minimal line style in good contrast to the colours? Hmm...

Thanks for all of your feedback, it really is appreciated!

I think it's a perfect balance of color and white space. The extra lines are clean and minimal so keep them.

I can just imagine some cardist spinning the back making a cool swirl of red around the blue center. With the black lines swirling just like the red ones it should look really good.
Move on, nothing to see here.

Thank you Rich, I really like them, I am glad something I started so long ago has come back to bare fruit now! It is very cool, I shall continue adding little bits to fill the white space in the back design, I cannot wait to have these ready for a KS but it will definitely be next year now!

Thanks for your feedback all,

Just an idea for consideration - stick with this colour scheme but use metallic blue, and change the black lines to gold (I would say hot foil instead of ink, but won’t be possible with USPCC).

We only use USPCC because it is a safe bet and we have built a good relationship with the staff there. But I see what you mean. Maybe as a stretch goal haha.

Thanks for you input,

I think your original colors of blue/red or orange whichever, work the best. I feel like they draw my attention more than the other combinations. I like the dark blue and yellow combination but I tend to shy away from yellow backed decks for some reason. I don't know why, it's just a personal thing and I couldn't explain it if I needed to. The only yellow card back I tend to like is charlie brown. (Probably a color preference I should explore and try to break out of, but not today)

I feel like the tuck side panels could benefit from a couple extra lines along the side. As you frame the card back with two rows of lines perhaps frame the side text in two rows top and two rows bottom. I don't think it will over power and should enhance the feeling against so much negative space. (since it's white this time)

Thanks for your feedback Fes, I agree that it is lacking that framing style the back design has I will be sure to add that in when I am next on my PC, thanks an awful lot for your time, hope to hear from more people soon.

Thanks,

Jason

I like it. The enlarged version of the eye from the back is a good focal point.

It might have a bit too much white. Maybe try something like one side being red and the other being blue, with the "arrows" (or something else) being white? IDK, it might not work. I'd rather it has too much white than too much color though, at least compared to the back.

I agree with you that they are fun. I don't particularly care for the heart though. It's kinda mickey mouse eared looking, idk. Not as inventive as the spade and club while being not as sleek as the diamond. I like the diamond by the way, balance is never a bad thing in my opinion. I think you could do a lot better with the heart. Perhaps a less is more approach? I don't know but it's the downside in this set. The club is kookie and I love it haha. Spade is solid. yea, good stuff. :)
