A custom seal would be way, way nicer, imo.

I suspect they are not going to print a separate tuck, so the signature is to differentiate the two. I think there will be a custom seal, if I understand what Jackson/Nick said over Instagram live. But $65 is a bit expensive...

At least they're differentiating this time unlike the black reserve note and the black reserve note crappy green gilded decks. I ordered a few of each and have no idea what's what without opening.

I would assume that the next print run would be the improved edition as I think KWP received and sold the initial 5k print run now.

For twice that I have to stay up at midnight (for my timezone GMT+8) in order to snatch Legal Tender Holographic versions. First one in July 4 (right on America's Independence Day), and then yesterday on August 8. I am so happy that I finally get to snatch one - even with the *cough* 65$ gilded and signed holographic Legal Tender. Can hear my wallet cursing at me all night that it seemed to prevent me from sleeping XD.

But then, after I see discussions about Legal Tender Holographic Foil go on the second run with improved elements, I question myself - is my decision to get this first Holographic version worth it? The bad side, If I don't get these first, it will costs a lot in the aftermarket, after seeing some of your investigations on eBay - and the fact that the signed and gilded deck is 65$, 15$ higher than any KWP decks. With plans of tweaking to better version, feels like it is bad decision. BUT.... The good side, this holographic version is well-sure be a filler to the fact that I missed the very first Legal Tender playing cards when it comes out in Kickstarter - that time I was not collecting cards. And after seeing the video of the unboxing and reveal, I totally mesmerized by it - the foils, all the details and such, looked so real like banknotes- it is like you are holding money (I hope no goverment agencies suspect it as counterfeit money XD).

Jackson, you have OUTDONE yourself this time - a REAL BIG TIME. Keep making awesome creations (and also stab my wallet)
I managed to secure three decks - one to open, one to keep, one signed and gilded deck. I hope the decks arrived at my place SAFE and SOUND.

Yeah, I have to agree with you aznh. I think that is one reason why I don't like unlimited sales for a very limited release, unless you open it up after a reasonable time has passed. This is especially true for a KWP release, who has a substantial fan base. Not a problem for me as this was one I was willing to pass on. However, I am sure there were some others that really were looking forward to getting this gilded version. That said, sometimes the secondary market has a place. I have occasionally put an order in early on a missed deck so I can lock it in and not worry about how fast my fingers fly. It is kinda sad that I have to do that, but whatever. I feel strongly creators can do what they want with their decks. I think it is great that KWP has an increasing fan base.

Just got my deck from the earlier round of sales. I must say, I like it. The card design is fantastic, and I love the holo foil!

The cards are on the thicker side - in fact, they the same thickness as the Nutcracker Kings Wild shorts deck from Dec last year. The box is thicker and more deeply embossed, so the overall profile is still thicker. This means that even my loosest deck sleeves are too tight!

The cards actually handle better than the Nutcracker deck. After some break in they do fan and shuffle well.

Highly recommended, and looking forward to the next version when Jackson tweaks the foiling further!

All of the comments above are spot on. Some logistic things from my end.

-This is not cold foil at all and this specific process is something neither USPCC or Cardimundi can do at the moment. I was well soured with Cardimundi cold foil and Metal lux is even more restrictive. If this were done in hot foil you would not even come close to getting the detail we got in some of the small elements, like the background writing.

-I prefer having a matte uncoated tuck case as well from a personal aesthetic perspective, but matte doesn't always mean better quality. However, it is very subjective and even from my own point of view matte does feel more luxurious. However, we would not have been able to achieve some of the foiling detail that we did unless we had full laminated surface. The foiling is Mylar so you will only be able to get as "matte" as the mylar + ink ontop.

-I agree on the comments of the faces being too much holofoil and also think they could have benefited from more selective foiling. If you have a deck, take a moment and look at the back, we approached the back a little differently to test out a different approach to the printing. We printed an opaque design in white, over the foiling, to completely "matte" out the underlying foiling. You can see this in the background paper texture having ZERO holographic sheens to it. This is something that we did not do on the front as we wanted to test how the tight linework preformed on the foiling with NO opaque underlayer. Now seeing the success of the back design we are already tweaking the process and design to update the faces to use the same process as the back and create that more matte too shiny pop that I think you guys were missing and I think that will push this already solid deck even further.

-As for the handling, it is what it is. I in no way had expectations that this deck would feel or handle like a USPCC deck right out of the box and I'm perfectly ok with that. My own focus and pursuit is getting the best of all the different elements I can. I will not print with Cardimundi again, and USPCC just can't do what we did on this deck. On top of that, each card is basically a four-ply construction 2 ply of paper and 2 ply of Mylar top of with heavy ink coverage. I understand for some handling is a big factor and I think that is great, the more selective a collector is the better they will spend their money for their own tastes.

I haven't been as proud of a deck in a long time as I am with this one and I think for the price we set for it, it is a stellar value and incredible example of the leading edge of playing card manufacturing. Even with that said I think with tweaking the process and design just a bit it will be even better, and I have learned even more valuable lessons for the next project.

Just wow, think I have learned something about applying holographic foils on cards as seen in VHS cards. I am pleased to know EPCC up their playing cards production with this method. Though I think, better explained using layers infographic (cause that way is probably the easiest to catch on?)

PS: Shall we create a post where we discovers and learn every technology in playing cards production here, would be educational for creators and collectors alike?

Just wanted to share feedback from Jackson on the auctioning of the gilded decks and the handling of future limited run releases. I suggested that his stuff was going to turn into Fontaine and Madison if only flippers buy it.

"We are actually going to be releasing a new way of releasing new, very limited decks like this later this year, that will ensure collector's [are] guaranteed one of these types of limited decks and also discourages if not all together stops this kind of speculative reselling. We are still working out the kinks but it is going to be awesome!"

I respect Jackson quite a bit and it's nice that he's responsive and receptive to feedback.

Just setting realistic limits would help.
The uncut sheets, with only 50 produced, should've been limit 1.
The gilded decks, x/500, limit 2 or 3. Even limit 6 would've prevented the resellers/flippers who bought several bricks.

Hi guys, what I am about to say may not belong here, but I am not an expert in reviewing decks and I am not really posting a true deck review... before I begin, may I ask, what do you buy this deck intend to do with it? Does It include playing card games?
To me, since it is a relatively affordable deck, I have all the intentions to admire it AND to play card games - and to impress friends and families with them, maybe interest some of them to card collecting. I bought 3 decks the first round but I finally opened one today.
The cards were shrink-wrapped also. Took me a while to peel it open because the flap meant for peeling did not work. After I released the cards from the wrap, the cards were still stuck together. It’s a bit odd, but separating them was not difficult. I took time going through the cards and admired them slowly.
What worries me (and the reason of writing) is that it may not be a good deck to play card games with, because it is a thick deck, and the cards tend to glide on top of each other like plastic cards and clump together. Perhaps my hands are small, and perhaps after some use the gliding and clumping will go away, although the handling will always be a bit awkward due to the thickness. Does anyone play with them and what is your opinion? Thanks.
Lastly, the deck does not fan well, but it does look very nice (see picture) even if it is not gilded.

Precisely as u said, since the deck isn’t too expensive, I went ahead to break it in - Shuffle, spring, dribble, fan (Faro is a bit tough). After some break in, I find that the cards actually fan decently well.

In terms of game play, I think it’s definitely possible. I don’t think the cards will be too clumpy. My concern is that the cards would be too shiny for prolong game play - I can imagine it being tiring to see so much glare.

Well, first of all, the price for the Holographic Legal Tender is $15, so I could assure that the decks are meant to be played with. But... seeing the beautiful look of the cards due to all of those holographic foils, well... I don't think it is suitable for card games. The holographic finish of the cards might cause a lot of distractions to the eye, especially when you are playing with the cards under bright light or under sunlight. Second, the thickness of the cards might be unsuitable for handling too, as reviewed by a few Youtubers out there (most prominently by The Card Guy). But, you can do what you like with the cards in your hands, it is totally up to you. You wanna use it for gameplay, you want to mutilate it to create layered cutouts masterpiece, you wanna try create Impossible Bottles with it, anything you want.

For me, I bought the decks because it is an excellent addition to the KWP collections in my pile. Also, it is as an compensation to the fact that I completely missed the very original Legal Tenders of 2016. After I read about how the 2016 deck is such a disappointment for those who have it and had opened it and feel the cards, i am assuming this Holographic version is the better version - "the deck which it was meant to be". While I am still waiting for mine to come to my residences, I am happy to see the people who have it are at least satisfied with them.

Remember, not all cards are made for all purposes. Each have their own specialties (i.e: it is unsuitable to use cardistry cards for gameplay). Artworks deck like this one, are not meant to be played with. Instead they are meant to be looked at and enjoy the illustrations of the cards - like how you own paintings by your favorite artist, and have them hanged on the walls just to be admired at. Perhaps, for non-collectors who happens to see this deck, would probably start to be open to you and asking questions. Who knows? After seeing this deck, they start to remove that mindset of "they're just cards, nothings special with it."

Here are some shots of the new print run of Legal Tender where we did some different approaches in our printing process to make the the holographic foil "pop" more and the rest of the card, that isn't supposed to be shiny or reflective, but rather matte and a paper money texture, more contrasty. Very pleased with the tweaks.
