Re: Series 1900 Deck by Ellusionist & USPCC
Not sure if the deck I ordered on Feb 28 is considered the FEB or MAR mystery deck, but I received the Black Artists Edition of Republics. I ordered the same day E posted about the deck not being a 'Mystery' deck anymore.Eric Lee wrote:Does anyone know the full list of mystery decks E has released? Below is what I can gather from various threads and webs. If you know better, please help correct and fill in the gaps.
Sept- 1900 Blue

Dec- E Deck
Jan- Views V2
Feb King Slayers (unknown color)

Re: Series 1900 Deck by Ellusionist & USPCC
E has a new mystery deck but after easily deciphering their email, it's a Red Masters deck for $9, plus shipping: https://www.ellusionist.com/mystery-deck.html
P.S. I'm changing the thread title.
EDIT: BTW it's printed by USPCC. Question is, will this be released regularly soon or will they limit the selling of it? I want it but how badly? Hmmm
EDIT 2: Although it's a Red Masters apparently it's a redesign and not just a recolor. Here's the email:

Ready for a new deck that nobody else has? Not even our staff.
Ellusionist mystery deck is a guaranteed way to own an unreleased or rare deck from our warehouse.
Don't worry, it's not expensive. For just $8.95 you'll be guaranteed an unreleased or rare deck.
Many wonder how we can keep doing this...
Actually, it's quite simple, we print 3 or 4 decks ahead of our releases and this is a super fun way to let you share in our excitement of upcoming decks.
Simply follow the button above and add one to your cart.
Too many people speculate what the deck could be.
Ellusionist likes to keep that secret. It's nice to add a little mystery back into our lives.
Rest assured, this is a completely new design, not a re-color of an existing deck.
So that means no filler, no seconds and no slow-selling playing cards.

OK, all that aside. It's a re-color. Distressing is sliiightly lighter than the Blue deck. Copyright date is 2020 (the blue deck was copyright 2019). My box may have been hand-assembled, bottom flap was loose and unlike other USPC decks I've had? Maybe I just have an odd one.

But a couple weeks later Ellusionist was doing a video chat, and I asked. they confirmed it there.

So is that coming in the next month? Won't be a surprise when the Blue Master deck arrives either, just a matter of time.

Re: Ellusionist Mystery Deck (Series 1900, etc.)
It's available now as the "Month 12" Mystery deck. Agreed re: Blue Masters. I wonder if they lost their graphic designer talent? So much recently has been just stamped Rider Back logos onto various backgrounds (entire Bicycle Legacy set, the re-issue of Masters / Series 1900). I miss the days of JBone/Lee McKenzie and those sexy Red Artifice.

Re: Ellusionist Mystery Deck (Series 1900, etc.)
E just released a new mystery deck (#013) and this picture is all that's known about it:
So judging by the number (13), the ghost, the month (October), and the holiday that falls in October (Halloween) I would say this is likely to be a Halloween-themed deck. Available here for $7.95, plus shipping: https://www.ellusionist.com/mystery-deck.html

The Ghost Cohorts have a double backer and an extra Q of Spades. The tuck is semi-glossy and no embossing or other bells and whistles.

Hmm, and Keepers just for $4.99, nice. Will grab another brick of Greens I guess. It's the cheapest classic B9 deck available at the moment!

There isn't a big price difference but where I live you can't beat Copag 310, I've easily found some under 3€ (that would be $3.5 for most of you).masagin303 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:24 amIt's the cheapest classic B9 deck available at the moment!

Re: Ellusionist Mystery Deck (Series 1900, etc.)
But Copag 310 is printed on the Slimline stock these days. What I'm talking about is the classic thick B9 (old Copag 310, Parlour, Regalia, Green Keepers...). Classic Copag 310's were the cheapest B9 deck for sure. I recently bought last 7 decks available here in Prague.Azazaaz wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 10:38 amThere isn't a big price difference but where I live you can't beat Copag 310, I've easily found some under 3€ (that would be $3.5 for most of you).masagin303 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:24 amIt's the cheapest classic B9 deck available at the moment!

Re: Ellusionist Mystery Deck (Series 1900, etc.)
Based upon your video, it looks like they are using a darker green than they did for their green Keepers. My knee-jerk reaction was to be a little disappointed by that, but the more I thought about it, the more the darker green grew on me. YMMV.
That reminds me, though... Keepers were supposed to be E's standard "workers" for the long haul, and now the Keepers are gone and Cohorts have replaced them. I wonder why they switched. Cohorts are fine, don't get me wrong, but I felt like Keepers looked more like the standard bikes and Hoyles, etc., that people are used to. Does anyone know why they switched? Are Cohorts similarly doomed to have an abbreviated life span?

Re: Ellusionist Mystery Deck (Series 1900, etc.)
My uneducated guess; since theory eleven and their Monarchs nobody is really interested in creating a modern classic/standard (at least in the magician's worker deck realm).

Re: Ellusionist Mystery Deck (Series 1900, etc.)
Looking through the E site, I would say BOTH Keeper and Cohorts are their long haul staples. (Especially since USPCC has clammed down on hard their Rider back TM usage. No more Black decks)rousselle wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 11:39 pm That reminds me, though... Got to keep in mind that Keepers and Cohorts have their differences. Green Keepers are still their std workers as E are still making the Green Keepers Reloads (sans tucks). But all the Cohorts are marked decks. So there you go.
