Re: The Seers Magus: current look
I liked 1 and 3. Sky blue and white just makes the details get lost. You can't appreciate the fine artwork once they've shrunk down to a playing card size, that is according to my screen of course. Still I would think you would want to show off the details in the back.
I do like the sky blue, but the line color do need to stand out more.
As for the 90 degree eye, what about a closed eye for a gaff card? 1 open , 1 closed. That'll make a cool opening trick that can only be done with this deck. Closed eye back, then open it and move to a card prediction or mentalism. End the routine by closing the eye back.

I think it's fine but do like the darker blue better as well.
I really like the thrown around gaff ideas; would make this deck even more fun.

Re: The Seers Magus: current look
Hello, well progressing onwards with this, I was wondering what you think of this ace of spades, I shall post an image below, I was aiming for a balance between minimal and classical design, keeping some elements of the angular features from the back design but also having the classical stylings of normal playing cards, thoughts?
Here we have the tuck box, on the flap you will notice it has, in latin: 'The world wants to be deceived, so let it be deceived.'
What are your thoughts on the use of latin as well as the 6 of spades reveal on the right hand flap?
Thanks for your time,
Jason

Re: The Seers Magus: current look
I like the Ace. It's got the right touch of elegance in my opinion and the latin is a nice touch to it. I think it's solid. I like the tuck a lot, the 6oS reveal is nice and looks much better in this font. The only criticism I have is the word Magus, the illusion is it's not centered while it is. Consider dropping the word down just a touch to test it out the balance in the box? I don't know. It's subtle but there. I don't think anyone will focus on it too hard. Who can say.
I like it!

TL:DR It's completely up to you.

Re: The Seers Magus: current look
Maybe it's just me but that ace of spades is... well; you'll be the judge:
Besides the resemblence, if you don't use this shape as your spades pips in general it doesn't make sense for me. An ace of spades is either just an enlarged pip or it is an elaborate design. This draft is possibly the prior but definitely not the later.
As for the latin; it's kinda on the verge of being cheesy for me since it is such a beaten horse. Didn't TXI already used that prase on one of their decks. The placement makes it very easy to ignore though so I wouldn't pass on the deck just because that phrase is there.
The font isn't quite there for me. Neither the first one, nor the new one look intriguing to me. Plus the unbalance that Fes mentioned. Again, nothing that would make me don't wanna pick up the deck but it's something that could be improved imo.

That's one serious card guard she's got in hand there.
Most folks just use a coin, although I have been known to use a Ginger Snap.
I use the two year old ginger snap from the center console of my truck because I don't have a coin on me.

Re: The Seers Magus: current look
Much much nicer AoS, Tuck and back. But this needs to be prototyped to see just how visible are the lines on the deck. I've got poor eyesight and I hate having to squint at decks and card details, considering how small they become at playing card size.

Re: The Seers Magus: current look
I always keep bothering USPCC to look at the files, these are fine, if you own the Aspectu the lines are as thick as the black lines on there
But Saxon and I may get prototype Magus to use, due to how we render cards it renders them as they are likely to come, so the lining and stuff will be obvious in renders:

Magus text on the exploded tuck is better placement in my opinion. No need to replace the font, illusions happen for all kinds of reasons. Looking good.

Re: The Seers Magus: current look
A strict nope from me. Now the back lacks highlights imo.

That's what I told my friend, he was adamant it would look better, I will send your comment as empirical supporting evidence that he's wrong! Thanks so much for agreeing with me!Harvonsgard wrote: βSun Aug 09, 2020 1:42 pm A strict nope from me. Now the back lacks highlights imo.

Not a fan. Recolored standards. Two-tone monochromatic with a change in font for the indices. BOOOORE. Boring deck. Regular set of bikes over these any day of the week. Next.
