Re: Florentia Nova - Florentia Antica
I support @conturbia's decision to print the LTD edition with WJPC.
Ok. What we have from the creator's perspective? Backers ask you to print 1000 decks with USPCC, but numbers are not quite there. You should produce 700 more decks and stay without any profit after KS.
For backers: Order those 700 overrun decks ON KICKSTARTER, and @conturbia will be happy to use USPCC. EASY!
In terms of quality and handling, WJPC is now third after USPCC and Cartamundi. Chinese printed EPCC decks are much worse and look so cheap!
Anyway, most of you are buying Lotrek, and you know that his deck's handling even worse than NPCC. So what is the reason for all this "I-need-good-handling" drama? Trust me, in a blind test, any recent WJPC deck is almost USPCC quality.

Re: Florentia Nova - Florentia Antica
Cartamundi suffers from the True Linen B9 finish that makes artwork look kinda fuzzy on the edges (see Jocu's decks for reference), hard to be printed crisp, plus standard Cartamundi colors tend to be muted. Just compare the mustard yellow on Cartamundi with other brands on the court cards.Harvonsgard wrote:Cartamundi just little better/equal to USPC?Decknowledgy wrote:If it's art precision: WJPC ≒ NPCC ≒ EPCC > Cartamundi ≧ USPCC.
*raises eyebrow*
USPCC, registration is the major issue, then the flaky MetalLuxe.

Re: Florentia Nova - Florentia Antica
LOL, true that for his past decks. Icons Sacred is the worst handling deck I own - and I own Cartamundi, Mexiko and Chinese printed decks .montenzi wrote:Anyway, most of you are buying Lotrek, and you know that his deck's handling even worse than NPCC.
The linen structure is actually the reason I don't like B9 decks. Since I gave away my House of the Rising Spade. Fillide, Axolotl and Blue Cohorts are the only B9 decks I own.Decknowledgy wrote:Cartamundi suffers from the True Linen B9 finish that makes artwork look kinda fuzzy on the edges (see Jocu's decks for reference), hard to be printed crisp, plus standard Cartamundi colors tend to be muted. In my mind I still put Cartamundi further above USPC (registration tends to irk me way more) since C9, but that was unfortunately just a tiny fraction of their decks... R.I.P. C9...

Both. If it were gameplay, I'd be all-in on the players. Art, all-in on the prints.Decknowledgy wrote:Folks should really ask themselves what is the purpose for backing this project... Is is for gameplay? Or is it for the art?
For me, it's always been about both. Bicycles and framed paintings do just fine on their own, but custom cards are playable, usable beauty we can interact with in ways that we don't with others artistic mediums and that strikes a much deeper chord than a single-faceted trinket.
COULD NOT AGREE MORE ABOUT EPCC. The look is fine to my eyes, but the handling leaves MUCH to be desired.montenzi wrote: In terms of quality and handling, WJPC is now third after USPCC and Cartamundi. Chinese printed EPCC decks are much worse and look so cheap!
lol I remember the first time I unwrapped a Lotrek deck, I seriously thought the seller had sold me a knock-off version. If you go back through my post history, I'm pretty sure I posted on the Arabesque thread asking if the deck was plasticAnyway, most of you are buying Lotrek, and you know that his deck's handling even worse than NPCC. But I disagree on WJPC vs USPCC handling. I perform magic, so on the off-chance you don't, maybe we have different priorities with regards to how a deck handles, but it's night and day to me. With different printers, I always play with riffle shuffles, passes, table cuts and deals to see if it holds up to USPCC and WJPC has not for me. It could be that I learned all my stuff playing with bikes and bees and that my fingers are touch-sensitive to those, but WJPC it just doesn't cut it imo.

Worry not! ALL decks will be printed by USPCC. No features have been ditched. Its' just like the original 30k goal has been hit.vasta41 wrote:I understand. I wish that were not the case because I really don't want these printed with WJPC. But just like with the Liberty and Justice decks, I guess it's better the cards exist printed by a lesser printer than not exist at all.

Geez Vasta, I thought you'd add that right when announced since it was the only USPCC deck.
I added it too since I like the Passione courts.

Yes, Florentia PE has been presented as printed by USPCC from day 1. it was the option for the die-hard USPCC enthusiasts who need that specific feeling. Anyway, now all the decks will be printed by USPCC so, that doesn't matter anymore.

I like deck, but orange color aren't "historical". How about using more authentic colors?

Re: Florentia Nova - Florentia Antica
I believe the orange is taken from the rose window of the Florence Cathedral which is in fact surrounded by a large a orange/copper/amber ring. If I'm not mistaken, said cathedral was completed in the 15th century, which I would definitely deem "historical".3rd dominion wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 2:32 pm I like deck, but orange color aren't "historical". What colors would you have suggested?

I want to thank Montenzi for sharing his point. He is a creator so... he knows. Ultimately, the true power is in the hands of backers, they can decide which projects they want to support.montenzi wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 6:18 pm I support @conturbia's decision to print the LTD edition with WJPC.

I noticed that the Roman numerals are additive. IIII instead of IV and VIIII instead of IX. Nice. I second Jackson's comment on the great blind embossing. This tuck case is going to be special indeed.

Re: Florentia Nova - Florentia Antica
The last update was USPC was delayed till next week hopefully. Then ship to GW for assembly and distribution so i would think Early November when they ship to backers. I did ask if they will have extras on their site cause i would like to grab a few more as well but no response as of yet.
