Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
Here's where I'm at with the back design - trying to decide between purple and gray...thoughts?
Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
Well I feel there are so many black decks these days, a deck with more of a "fun" color, of purple would be best, especially since the box looks cheery and colorful.
I think if you went with a deeper purple, and (as Evan will probably mention) thinner borders, it will look a lot better.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
They both look great, interesting take on a using a quirky idea such as a stach to make a pretty sweet deck of cards
Both colours work imo, i think it has to depend on the face cards before we can make a decision on the back colour

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I like that much better. Now another idea is to rotate the center mustaches 45° (or would it be 17.5°), so the mustaches look like they are spiraling in a pattern, I think would be interesting conceptually. Just an idea though.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I think with the faces this colourful (a very good change), perhaps the back being grey would work better

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I was going to say thinner borders, but I see you already did that. This is such a clever, original deck!
Personally, I like the gray back design best.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I would like to see you possibly choose a different color for the back.
You are using earthy and primary colors for the front. The purple is a little jarring when placed with the front colors.
I would choose the grey or like to see another color. Maybe a tan

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
After seeing the faces I have to correct myself and agree with the consensus on grey or indeed another color like Utterfool proposed.
Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I agree.Evan wrote:Personally, I like the gray back design best.
If the fronts are going to be 4 different bright colours. Making the backs a nice neutral gray is a good call.
Otherwise it's just ... too ... Much ... COLOOUR!! AAAAHHH!!!
...sorry. I lost my head there for a second.
Otherwise, I like the deck. Nice, clean and simple... but still interesting.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
Maybe one of the gaff cards can have Hitler mustaches...
Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
That would just be a short thick line!samurai007 wrote:Maybe one of the gaff cards can have Hitler mustaches...
Edit: I guess if it was incorporated on a pip, it might work.
Also reminiscent of Charlie Chaplin and Groucho Marx.

Hitler permanently ruined that mustache style for everyone after him, as the following video shows:Sharpie wrote:That would just be a short thick line!samurai007 wrote:Maybe one of the gaff cards can have Hitler mustaches...

The faces are pretty cute, but I kinda feel the back design has a little too much white for my liking.

Love the color and the pips, it's kind of simple, funny, and colorful.
Ohh...I saw Freddy Mercury on the tuckbox
the tuckbox remind me of Queen's Album - Hot Space, which I love the cover pretty much.
and I'd say, I'm gonna love this deck pretty damn much
Keep up the great work!!

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I'm definitely leaning towards the gray back and have been experimenting with gradients on the repeating patterns.
I also have a completely different concept for the back...I like both designs so I'm curious what you folks think...

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I like the first design better, but I can't decide on which of the two variants I prefer. I think I would also like to see a variant which is "more" symmetrical, like being mirrored vertically as well as horizontally (if that makes sense). I don't know if it would be better, but I'd want to see it to compare.
Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I like the first design better as well, with a preference toward the right one with the alternating gray and white. I find it more mesmerizing, especially at a distance.

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
...?
Only one of those links is a deck of cards, though it looks like just an art project and not a deck that was produced in any quantity. Also it is not mustache themed (though it incorporates a couple mustaches on two of the court cards, as do most decks of cards) and it hurts my eyes :p
I've looked around quite a bit and found that there are some "mustache playing cards" but pretty much every version of those is a regular deck with a single mustache image slapped on the back. This deck is a complete concept with a unique style for cards

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I don't like this deck sorry, the moustache is a trade in this moment. And why surfing on this now !?

Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
This deck is really growing on me. I strongly prefer the first design, but I cannot decide between both those variants. Also, if all those things in the back design are mustaches, how about making them brown or black?
Re: Mustache Playing Cards (a new deck from Vända)
I really like the original back design, but maybe invert the colours.
This will create a more unique border, while the mustaches will be closer to the colour they actually would be in life.
I'd love to see that.

@David, that my message was actually aimed at @Evan. I like that collector. He enjoys his hobby like no one else and his comments are always so enthusiastic As I remember he admitted that in self-critical manner by itself on some forum. So, sorry, but I just couldn’t resist the temptation to tease over him in a friendly manner – tried to sow little futile suspicion in him @Evan, sorry, take it in a proper waydavegk wrote:...?

As concerns your deck, @David, – I think the idea isn’t original but it’s realized quite well. I understand the back design but I am not a fan of it. I like number cards. When I look at them I feel that I want to smile. It’ll be interesting to see court cards. Will I pledge? I don’t know. Will I support it on my blog? I guess yes, why not. So take it easy. And it wasn’t about plagiarism at all.

okay, after further exploration, here are 3 versions of the back alongside the faces...please lemme know which one you think goes best with the fronts.
