Codex by Lotrek
Lotrek next big project is Codex which is supposed to be released this September. He posted a teaser on his instagram. I do not know how to include the image here.

Lotrék + medieval calligraphy =
I just hope that he goes for more custom courts this time. His last projects were all - while still beautiful - standard-ish. When it comes to European Codices I wanna see monks and priests on the courts.

The text from the IG post is missing. It's "inspired by the art of illuminated medieval manuscripts."

Re: Codex by Lotrek
It does look nice, but seems similar to the King Arthur deck done by Jackson. Jackson is also doing a really nice similar type fonts for the upcoming Lord of the Rings decks.
Of course it is Lotrek, so I am interested.

Re: Codex by Lotrek
The Arthurian is one of the only KWP decks I like and I'm glad to have it, but I can't imagine a reality where this doesn't surpass it, as long as it's a Silk level deck with fully custom courts anyway . Pure medieval (rather than fantasy medieval) definitely isn't an overused theme yet so all the more I say!

Re: Codex by Lotrek
Drats! I was actually just in the staring phase of designing a deck around the Codex Gigas. The wife is an artist and was actually sketching out some ideas. Don't get me wrong, I am sure Lotrek can do an infinitely superior job to me.
Really hate to sidetrack the thread, but I am now slightly excited a few weeks of research of an obscure subject is slightly on topic. The legend around the Codex Gigas is that a disgraced monk agreed to create it in one night, but he had to sell his soul to the devil to accomplish it. The reality is that, through careful analysis, researchers were able to confirm it was written by a single person, but over the course of over 20 years. I honestly have no idea which is more impressive.
I have hundreds of images, but here is the one I really would like to see in a codex-themed deck one day:

Dunno it'll come out whenever Lotrek determines it's ready, usually on his website. Sometimes on KS.
Anyone know if Lotrek has a Patreon or something?

Re: Codex by Lotrek
Lotrek does not have a Patreon program. He kicked around the subscription idea, but just decided it would be a pain to manage. It also really didn't work with the way he likes to move around to various projects as they inspire him. In any event, it isn't like he has to drum up a following right now. When he puts out something, it is like throwing chum out to a school of sharks. Katnip for card collectors.

CODEX will have fully custom everything, from courts to... stock! No kidding, I'm up to something that if successful will drive you nuts. I'm working on making a special stock for the limited edition of the deck.

Re: Codex by Lotrek
If it is going to be printed on real Vellum, that would make Jackson's Intaglio printed deck look cheap. That isn't even discussing the handling!
That said, this does sound interesting.

You're crazy Lotrék!
But I know, you know that we all know, you already know this .
If it is something like vellum it won't come cheap... oh bwoi; canned corn will be luxury for the next months.

Re: Codex by Lotrek
Harvest and Codex are coming. Harvest soon. Yes, don't ask when...
Regarding Codex, there was a major change in the concept and it will be designed under the protection of my patrons. Meaning that it will demand A LOT of work and will come in a few months. Prepare for something way too crazy.

Re: Codex by Lotrek
I fear you might have.
I suspect Codex has been moved to the Patreon (which has already opened and closed for good). The whereabouts of Harvest I am less certain. I don't think it will be one of the Patreon decks, but you never know. I'd think if it was going to be a separate release then next northern summer.

Re: Codex by Lotrek
Lotrék was busy with Charmers printing and fulfillment. Then Tempest campaign management. Both projects are delayed (as almost always with Lotrék, lol).
Officially Codex never was moved to Patreon but some specs of Codex and the Patreon exclusive decks indeed read similar (e.g. printed on a stock made by Lotrék) so, portcullis could be right.
Lotrék could have his own watchdogs thread, haha. Let's guess the release years:
Codex 2022
Harvest 2021
Blue Oath 2030
are my bets.

Re: Codex by Lotrek
Is Codex does end up being exclusive to the patreon in some way, I'll be a bit upset - mainly because the patreon opened and closed well before I even knew about it!
Tangentially related, but is there a list of upcoming Lotrek decks? I know of Codex and Harvest, but are there any others? Perhaps a mystery deck a la Crypt/Arabesque Silver/Damask from prior years?
