Disagreed with this part. Lorenzo's previous decks, before this HOTRS theme were drastically different. Just look at all th different aces https://www.instagram.com/p/ByVyvl-CBUE ... ma3knwzmlu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. and jokers https://www.instagram.com/p/B3AgzVioYtw ... 3jaa0p3rms" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. and queens https://www.instagram.com/p/BiRAgpdlsM2 ... q18j5f3696" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Don't get me wrong, I think these look great, but this deck is still keeping in the same style as his previous few
Lorenzo did mention in his Patreon post on March 27 that this deck was tied to the HOTRS, so there is a good reason why the style is very similar. :D
Ah that makes sense then. I didn't see that post.

I think you misunderstood. I wasn't saying that all Lorenzos work is the same. I was merely pointing out that "in general" you can recognise most well known designers work by the way they draw their courts. Each designer has their own unique styles. For example I have always loved Lorenzo's use of colour and blending and the way he uses patterns within the blended areas themselves.

There is a new image up on IG for those who don't use instagram or are following along on Patreon.

If the back design doesn't bomb, then this might become my favourite S17 deck.

EDIT: And that King needs a better transition.

The more and more I compare what Lorenzo is designing with this deck and comparing them to HotRS, the more I am convinced they are stylistically completely different. I am just comparing now this Queen of Hearts with the HotRS queen of hearts. There is way more different than I can even list. I mean of course, we now have a two way design rather than one way design. The Index is different, the new deck has a distressed look, there are map backgrounds, the Eye of the Ocean has a much more traditional design as opposed to HotRS, the facial design is completely different. I am still left with that of course I can tell it is a Lorenzo work, but the same can be said of all of his body of work. As I have also said before, that is a good thing. For those that think this deck looks like HotRS, I suggest looking closely at the two designs. However, in the end, art is really subjective. If you like it, buy it. If not, well, that is up to you.

Too 'familiar' for a Lorenzo deck. It just doesn't look new. I was expecting better after the HOTRS tarot deck.
I've got similar thoughts, something felt underwhelmed and I am not able to point it to what it is. May be, it is because of the standard that was set through Gemini and HoTRS. May be, this has been done in a very short span of time. That said, it is still a draft & I'm sure he will come up with a breathtaking back design & tuckbox while iterating on the face cards as well.

I'm over THOTRS, though. I don't want the same-old from Lorenzo. I want something new.

What the actual f.uck are people talking about here about this being the same old same old? The only thing familiar about this is the way Lorenzo draws faces and that's about it.

Please, show us the Lorenzo deck that looks exactly like this.
Requiem? No.
No17 and Le Chat Rouge? No.
Heretic? No.
Gemini? The closest one I guess although I do find this deck quite a bit different to Gemini. So no.
The House of the Rising Spade? No.

This is one of the best looking decks I have ever seen.

Only if you give the same diss when JR reuses his courts.

I personally have rested my case with KWP and became a subscriber again so that wasn't against JR, but your bastardizing wording toward other creators against your lack of criticism towards JR is laughable.

Show us what you really got as a critic and give your reasoning every time, not just some childish rants against creators and spamming in threads, or else you're just like Victor or less. I've seen your genuine critiques in the past; unfortunately, now you're just a whiner most of the time.

Is this satire? Is there something like a playing cards critic? Does anyone besides critics and feuilleton-reading, own-farts-sniffing snobs actually care about critics?

Funny, but as well a bit irritating, that some take some comments more serious than the poster does it himself. Glad that Lorenzo doesn't care and is delivering a great deck anyways (I suppose :D ).

If you judge, you are a critic. It's just a matter of constructive or not.

Don't say that you haven't done so yourself, mate, and actually quite often ;)

Let's try not to let spectators and new creators think that UC is a hostile place, shall we? There are PLENTY that come across UC with this impression, and I feel pitiful for that.

I must admit, when I first saw the images of this deck the first thing I thought was it was very similar to HOTRS but with each new image I'm beginning to see how they are differentiated and it's definitely growing on me, Not that I didn't like it to begin with :D

Welcome Cardnooba! Always nice to have a fellow South East Asian in the forums. Careful, this is a dangerous forum for your bank account!

If you don't already know of runitdecks.com, it's a great place to look for decks in Philippines, plus they have physical stores around Manila.

I thought what Deck wrote was very well said..... He wrote a mature post that was trying to tell you something Carp...Here let me put it in terms you might understand

You are not funny, you bring nothing to the forums but nonsensical blabber and honestly you are one of the biggest moron I have ever seen (yes that was childish to write that but I am trying to use words you might understand). If it was just for me, I would have banned you permanently a very long time ago as you bring zero insight to any discussions... But freedom of speech is great, it allows any redneck to say their peace. I have lost interest in this place because of people like you and I think a long break is well needed. I am banning myself hehehe

To the rest of the good people here I know where to find you to discuss intelligently this great hobby of ours

Except that it wasn't and he didn't.

Apparently you didn't get the memo, that has been shared many times, in which I have conveyed that about 95% of my content is sarcasm. Some people get it; Allan, Lotrek, Roope, Pip, and surely even Mike. Any literal inference of most of my posts is meaningless and flat-out incorrectly read by any user observing as such.

Try having some fun and not being a curmudgeon. Ever heard of crap in = crap out? Yeah, over the last couple years, the overwhelming amount of crap topic decks being shared earns their crap responses.

I am funny. I'm not a moron - and I'm certainly no "redneck". All of these analyses are meaningless if you're not observing posts in a positive tone. It seems like you do need a break. That isn't my fault. Hopefully you return with a better outlook.

Want a critical response? This deck looked too much like THOTRS for me to startup interest in it. Has it evolved? Yes. Has it separated from that design? Yes. Do I need to further elaborate for any reason? Hel no. Get over your incorrectly premeditated judgments please. You clearly don't understand me (and, sadly, I thought you did).

Have you heard of real life? Y'know, where people face-to-face make actual judgements about who and what you are? That is what determines whether or not I am funny - not some self-important self-described white knight and/or his fake sources.

Don't confuse IRL facts with some imaginary internet ego. Plz and thx.

The opinion of anonymous (and fake) detractors is meaningless in comparison to the number of supporters. Don't catch feelings from feigned expressions.

Please, don't speak on my behalf for I am in fact quite conflicted about you. Sure, you are an active member. Funny... at times. You do make this forum more lively and I appreciate it... at times. But you are also unnecessaraly harsh and even cruel on your "hilarious" commentary. And yeah, I have been quilty of that too but I have really tried to cut back on talking shit recently. I'm not leaving out completely on giving shit to BS like Madison, Fontaine or AW but I don't go around anymore smashing the soul of some amateur designer who doesn't know what he's doing, talking shit about his project and taking pride on my, oh so hilarious ugly truths. There are quite a many harsh comments I wish that I could take back. You seem to be proud of every single of them.

Fair enough, but, you do understand that I don't take most of this shit seriously. Some people apparently have no sense of humor and/or when to detect it.

We can't change history, Roope. "Pride" isn't the correct term. I know who I am, what I say, and take ownership of every bit. I'm not worried about the meaningless opinions of strangers halfway across the world who only speak their mind to cause conflict (sounds ironic, doesn't it?).

I'll amend my comment about you to mean: I recognize that Roope (and others) has a sense of humor and understands not to take me seriously.

What you've said is literally creating this distinction between "us" vs. "the others". So, yeah, I am "THE STRANGER" going against you "to cause conflict," and you don't, eh?

You have just literally claimed that UnitedCardists.com is an inner circle group with inside jokes, and you're the renowned stand-up comedian entertaining your own little group. Well, good job, if this suits you well AND FITS WITH THE AGENDA OF THIS FORUM, so be it. Guess PipChick's effort to draw in more people with DOTY is also shit to you too then.

Here you go... Taking everything seriously (again) and causing your own pain.

Look up the definition of "literally".

You obviously and obliviously don't understand me, so how can you infer what does and does not mean anything to me? Quite the puzzle I would say.

I would like to move on from this discussion. I mean, you are all about being prim and proper, right?

The designs that Lorenzo has begun sharing are starting to paint a newer picture for the deck that distinguishes it from THOTRS (which is what it looked like to me).

Chris please understand that the reason I am not asking you to get banned is because you do contribute good things to this forum. Quite a lot in fact.

But a lot of your contributions here are really, really starting irritate people. If that kind of content would be everything you contributed, you should have been banned two years ago. The reason you are still here because you do bring good shit to this forum.

To Mike and all the mods, I do wish that Chris does not get banned from UC. But I'm kinda starting to think that maybe he should get suspended for a while, he could finally get the message.

I won't comment any more on this subject, I will only talk about the deck in this thread for now on.

I don't see why I would/should get suspended. If Deck has a problem, he could've PM'd me. He chose to make a personal discussion public.

When I critique a deck it is an on-topic reply. I attack the point - not the person.

I bet that Deck can't find a dozen "harsh" comments from me over the past week. Progress pleases no one when they're cemented in their perception.

I've tried to steer the thread back on-topic.

Wow. Okay, leave the forum for a few hours...

Anyway, back on Lorenzo at least if not really The Eye of the Ocean. A few weeks back Lorenzo posted on instagram a brick of one of his decks someone sent him. Kind of in reaction to that I posted that I would take a photo of my Stockholm17 bricks and, for good measure, shape them in a house. I finally managed to make good on my promise, so I give to you...

Brad, you sure you don't want to change your name to "The Crazy Squirrel Brick Hunter - Hunt Bricks till metropolis collapses"?
