Faith Playing Card (New Post)
I'm so excited to share this with you all, as this project comes to its final touches. Here you are going to see the Back design, the aces, one court card to spice things up, the joker and some rendering. Enjoy them and any comments that are going to be not in range of being polite and showing respect will not be responded to and your opinions are heard, with all respect to everyone if you want to say something personal here is my email: alex919f@icloud.com or you can pm me here which are open all the time. Thank you.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
Criticism take 2, let's see how this goes.
First off, I'm confused. What I see is a setting in which a city has been torn to bits where a police officer (I think) is pushing a man alongside (not towards) a gaping hole in the ground while (possibly) the same guy is climbing up the ladder in a weird way (arm hanging in the air? why not grasping for the ledge?). I don't see how this relates to faith. Next, the joker shows an extra-terrestrial wearing a police hat, thus intimating that the police officer is actually an alien. How does this aspect relate to faith? I honestly don't get it.
I think the main problem with this design is that it is too busy. The concepts behind the vast majority of custom decks that people love are grasped the instant they are seen. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but the only thing I came up with is the following: Aliens invade earth and destroy cities in order to force humans into trust falls by pushing them into giant holes that actually aren't that deep. I hope that's not what you're going for because that would be terrible.
Also, I think the caption on the Ace should read: " Escape and Reshape the Faith." Leave out the 'the', otherwise it sounds self-referential and weird.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
1-once the kickstarter is up, every single detail about the story will be spoken about and you will get the idea. Just to be clear the hat doesn’t represent a police officer hat because there is no logo on the hat so please don’t add any assumptions about the characters. The joker, the characters will be spoken about in detail in the kickstarter so this confusion will go away.
2-Concerning that you find the design too busy, with all respect that is your opinion. We are human, we are diverse and every mind thinks different and every one loves a different style, if you don’t like this style it’s up to you.
3-Concerning your theory it’s really far away from the real story which is going to be explained all on kickstarter.
4-the caption will stay the same on the ace of spades. It’s not one sentence “Escape and Reshape” mostly representing the character climbing the ladder and the “The Faith Deck” is just the name implemented on the ace of spades.
Thank you for your feedback

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
I was hoping that the first drafts in the old thread (mod merge magic?) were only sketches and that the art work gets refined way more. South Park is what immediately comes to my mind seeing this draft.
You're of course right that, all of us have a different taste and like different things but you want to do a kickstarter, right? That means you kinda have to cater to an audience since, you want money from strangers. The I'm doing it my way attitude might hinder your success but you're of course free to do as you please.
Any info on the launch date for the kickstarter yet? I'm kinda curious for the whole story since, I'm sitting in the same boat like Piazza here; no clue at all and only assumptions I could come up with. Our opinions might differ here as well but for me, an existential part of art is, that it should be able to transmit an idea/thought/concepts without any further explanation.
Best of success with your campaign.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
If you don't tell us anything, we are going to make assumptions. That's just how brains work. There's also no guarantee that when everything is explained on the kickstarter, we will "get the idea". Why not post it here and get feedback on that too?
Honestly, I think this is bad beyond what a few simple improvements could do. But what's more concerning, is the fact that you seem completely unreceptive to suggestions, which is not a good sign for the deck nor you as a project manager. "[W]ith all respect that is your opinion" and "if you don’t like this style it’s up to you" is a very strange way to respond, when opinions are exactly what you came here asking for.
Sorry for the bluntness.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
1-Just to be clear, I didn’t ask for feedback. Please read properly because I don’t want any problems.
2-Just saying, last time I tried explaining and unfortunately no body wanted to understand obviously, so I’m not wasting my time anymore for people that think I care what their reviews are because they are professional designers and in real life they are the worst people ever(I’m not talking about you).
3-Please, please don’t make assumptions about me also and don’t quote things from different lines, I clearly explained why I said he has an opinion and with full respect it’s his and I explained how the human brain works. That being said, again I mean NO DISRESPECT and if I did something wrong please go pm me or send me an email, if you have a personal problem, I’m open for it.
4-MagikFingerz, sorry if you got this idea about me. And If you can contact me at my email or instagram: @aliasfour96 I would be happy to show how the project started and after only asking for reviews from a lot of people around the world and adding my touches I reached that back design. But after that I came here last time to get reviews and things got really personal and started getting suicidal messages which went really far so With all respect I didn’t ask for reviews this time, I said you can comment but any bad comments won’t be answered and I clearly said opinions are heard/ I don’t think everytime you here an opinion Tom you accept it and work with it, that’s not how life works I’m pretty sure about that.
5-With all respect to everyone that is here and will come here and read this, please don’t make any assumptions on me as a person because the people in the card community know me and know who am I in reality, don’t try to ruin my reputation in the card community. For what happened last time, I apologized, went over it and maybe some people still stuck there but I didn’t, things went off the edge and any person that has a brain once his family gets into this and getting suicidal messages, I think anyone will get angry and make stuff that he may regret on. Anyway, I’m over this, I love the community and I love your opinions and respect them but I have worked more than a year on this deck and it came to it’s end and took a lot of time from me, from my personal life and I love it the way it is. If you want to know the story please pm me or email me or dm on instagram anyway that suits you and I’m happy to answer any questions you have in mind.
Thank you, with love Ali

I’m sorry but I don’t catch the idea about showing your project but without a story. We can comment only what we see, nothing else. Your design could be the best ever but we cannot understand. So why you show here the stuff? Just to say it’s going to KS?

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
Well, this entire section of the forum is dedicated to people asking for feedback, so anyone posting here is assumed to be doing just that. But if you're happy with the way the deck has turned out and this is basically just an advertisement for it, well... It's not exactly kosher, but I don't think we have a specific rule against it, so I guess it's fine.
So sorry to hear you had a bad experience last time. If you received hateful/attacking messages, please let us mods know (via PM) so that we can ban those people immediately. That is definitely NOT okay.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
I will add the story later on I’m just in the middle of work. Concerning speaking to you mods about it, I tried contacting some of the mods but no answer and I’m not like the people who sent the attacking messages, you can go and see what they wrote on the preview faith playing cards forum and see what they wrote and how it turned personal mentioning my family and no body reacted on it, everyone went against me and saying I don’t tolerate criticism and I don’t think mentioning my mother and saying I should give up and I have zero chance to produce such a design is constructive criticism just because someone is a proved designer in your community doesn’t mean he has the right to say that. I don’t care about what they say and I proved that the design is in printing (prototypes) now and it will go kickstarter and it will succeed. After all of this, if you wanna treat me the same way because I came here to listen to comments again but all I wanted is respect just delete my 2 posts and leave those guys roaming around and don’t punish them for the way they have treated me and I promise you I’m not gonna be affected I would be much stronger, from the moment I joined all I felt here in the community is hate not criticism. This is where I open the subject and this where it ends I don’t want to speak about it anymore and if you wanna take any decisions to kick me out just let me know so I can post a thank you message for everyone. Thank you
And I’m still gonna put the story out later today.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
I can definitely see a huge improvement with the artwork from your previous draft. There is a lot of strong imagery here and it conveys a sense of rebuilding, breaking the cycle, and hope. The artwork still isn't at the level I would back because I have very particular taste and I think the artwork might be trying to tell too much on one card.
Your passion is very clear and it takes a great deal of courage to share your baby with complete strangers. Keep in mind that I have never taken the time to develop a design, so my perspective is coming from that of a consumer. I know you mentioned before that you have some backers already lined up, so congratulations and I wish you the best.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
This is the story, but please excuse me if there is any language mistakes because english isn’t my first language so please don’t assume stuff on what I say. Thank you in advance
There is 3 main elements in the back design, which are:
1-city
2-characters
3-black hole (not the one found in space :p)
First the characters, two main characters are present which are : one represents “the government of every country in the world” which is the one with the blue outfit with the blue hat (to be clear not a police officer but the hat represents power) and the other ones represent “the people of every country” where there is 2 characters the one being pushed and the one climbing the ladder and you can see the texture on the clothes to give them a bit of something special to differentiate them from the other character texture (blue outfit). The government is pushing the people off the edge and the people need to climb back up. A phrase is written on the tuck box saying: “Take small steps with BIG FAITH” , this phrase comes here where the character “the people” climb back up step by step on the ladder and march toward the city to build it with their own hands (all together as a one big family) .
Second the city, which is shown as half destroyed, not everywhere is damaged but what it represents is that it’s controlled by the government and “the people” getting pushed away into the hole and then climbing back up to rebuild the city, here comes the phrase “ ESCAPE AND RESHAPE” and also the name of the deck “FAITH” which the people need to be strong and powerful.
Third the hole, which represents a prison for the government, a way to suppress people’s power, creativity and putting control over their lives and changing their destiny. It’s a way to deprive people from having faith and a way to keep them under their control.
I wish you get the scenario and this shows you the whole story. My main message from the deck isn’t like go against the government and do illegal things, the message is for the people to have faith in themselves, trust yourself, be brave, have patience, be strong and survive all to be happy and be able to decide your destiny. And for me as a magician, I want magicians to have faith in themselves and to be strong and to be one family. Be happy and spread happiness.
Thank you for reading this, I wish no big assumptions are made and this doesn’t turn political in anyway. This art and it’s an idea that I want to reach everyone in the card community and spread it out for everyone , their families and friends and anyone who feels weak and needs help, reach out for him and help him out. We are all one big family on earth and all one hand and we are strong and we’ll always stay strong. Have Faith, spread love and happiness. Thank you

These are some mockups for the deck, I wish you like them!
If you do like them please go follow my page in IG: @faithplayingcards and share what you love the most. It really means a lot for me and I'm revealing the tuck box soon, just waiting to get some more followers in. Thank you in advance.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
Goof for you for trying to make a unique deck that conforms to the artistic vision that you have. That said:
My Opinion (to be used as constructive criticism, or disregarded):
Even after you posted your explanation of this deck, it still makes no sense to me. It seems like you are trying to shoehorn meaning into a deck of cards that would be better suited for some other artistic medium, perhaps a short story. I'm not trying to discourage you from pursuing the creation of a deck, but maybe just step back and try to see things from the perspective of someone who isn't as intimately and emotionally tied to the deck as you are. That can be hard to do, but I promise that it will help your deck be more successful. There are a lot of people on here trying to help you think through this deck, and it seems as though you have disregarded everything said that wasn't just direct praise.
If a lot of people have similar criticisms, it doesn't really matter whether they "get it" or not. That's a strong indicator, that most people aren't going to get it, and most likely isn't a failure of all those people, it's a failure of the art to effectively communicate it's intended message.

Re: Faith Playing Card (New Post)
Thank you man, I appreciate feedback but I don’t want to go through this again but I will say I can show you where the deck started with an idea and started getting criticism and where it is now, I listened and change a lot of stuff that people wanted me to change. Could you please explain what you didn’t understand, so I can help you understand more, as I said for kickstarter it’s gonna be a short story written by someone other than me because my english isn’t that good and that affects how I deliver the story. And now I’m printing prototypes so I can’t change anything now until the prototypes arrive and see it and get better reviews on it to see what fits in to fix. I’m sorry, I mean no offense and no disrespect but I have shared this deck with many many people and they understood the design and how the scenario on the back design is implemented with the story. Again I wish you tell what you aren’t understanding so I can explain more for you and just a small note I didn’t talk about the joker because I wanna leave some mystery for the kickstarter. Thank you so much and I wish you the best!scottbre wrote:Goof for you for trying to make a unique deck that conforms to the artistic vision that you have. That said:
