Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck
That looks much more agressive than luxurious. I like the milder blue version much better, unless this is more than just a simple color change.

Get ready for the green version after this! Then a limited black one... and a gold one after spending $50 on TBC.com.lel wrote: unless this is more than just a simple color change.
EDIT: I'm not knocking TBC for doing this- I'm getting a little fed up with all the color variations in general.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck
Well the Blue Deck is sold out on their website and it goes for about $20 om ebay, so... for someone like me, who didn't get a blue deck - getting a red deck will be a good thing. Even Bicycle makes a red and a blue deck, I wouldn't call it a "color variant" Blue and red are pretty standard. True, gold and black and green are more variant, but again... when there is a demand for the cards, it's a good way to give the public what they want without re-releasing a sold out line.I'm getting a little fed up with all the color variations in general.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck
Are color variations what the public wants though? I admit some decks look better in different colors but do they really need to make all of them? It reminds me of TV- does the public really want to see all these reality shows? Or do they make so many of them because it's easier? And do people watch them because they like them or because that's all that's ever on TV?Magic_Orthodoxy wrote: when there is a demand for the cards, it's a good way to give the public what they want without re-releasing a sold out line.
To each his own I guess.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck
I think there is two good reasons for color variants
1) Matched set for games, two colored backs speeds up poker and others game play. These should be released at the same time.
2) It allows companies to reissue designs without compromising the limited nature of the original deck. Now for this I would say you would need to be out of stock for a year at least if not more for it not to seem like a money grab. This option also allows collectors like me, new to the market, to pick up older designs without having to take out a new mortgage to pay for them. I see that this can lower the value some on the older decks but the companies themselves are not worried about aftermarket pricing. Even with this there will be changes to the decks and older collectors will say that the new ones are not nearly as good as the older (ex rider backs not that they run into limited nature).

10-4 over and out
Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck
Hey Magic_O, I managed to pick up more Blues than I needed when they first came out.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:Well the Blue Deck is sold out on their website and it goes for about $20 om ebay, so... for someone like me, who didn't get a blue deck - getting a red deck will be a good thing. I then offered a deal to collectors - that I'd sell them one deck at my cost (about$10), just so they could have it (I hate limited releases).
Might have one or two left. Are you interested in the same deal?
No matter where you go... there you are :|
Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck
I don't mind color variations usually, I do think this red will look quite stunning though and be my favorite over the blue. For anybody who hasn't got one, Sharpie is great to deal with, I actually got 2 of him so don't hesitate to buy from him if you're still in need.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
I like a lot of the Blue Crowns products. What I do not like is the marketing they do. They came on the old UC when they were starting and talked about what a different company they would be. From what I see, much of their marketing borders on deceitful.

That red looks great, really eye popping. Hope I can catch some from the site...or catch some from sharpie if he snags a bunch
Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
I read a lot about folks complaining about a deck not being their favorite, or preferred, color, and wishing that it had come in a different color. I also see folks complaining about a deck being a color change only deck. I'm purely a collector, and a pretty serious one at that. The funny thing is, I should be the most upset about CC decks since I strive to collect a ton of what I really like, and at least one of (almost) everything else that is put out, at least in Modern times. I'm not complaining because I really like the design, so an extra color option is great for me because it's a variation of a design that I really like. I like blue over red, but they will look great as a set. If you don't like red, that's fine, no one is forcing you to buy it. I guarantee you though, there are folks out there that are truly excited that these are in red now because it's their favorite color, or something like that, or they hate blue. Color change decks give everyone the opportunity to get the color that they want, and it gives collectors like me an opportunity to say goodbye to a few more dead presidents! Everyone is happy! Bring on the color changes...if I don't want them, I won't buy them. It's a long time-consuming process to design a new deck and get it to the "Now on sale" stage. CCs give us something to talk about/buy/dissect/rant about/whatever until the next design comes along. I personally am all for multiple colors if it allows someone else to get exactly what they want with that design.
Well, in my head, this post wasn't quite as long.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
I agree. I think a lot of the people (note: not all) that complain about simple color changes are slaves to their collection and feel like they "need" to get all the different types of a certain brand or series, and therefore see buying another very similar deck as a chore that they're "forced" to do.BiggerDee wrote:I read a lot about folks complaining about a deck not being their favorite, or preferred, color, and wishing that it had come in a different color. Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
Exactly! As a collector, I too "need" to get all of a set for my collection, but I don't always do that, and never feel that I "must" do that. I also understand the fact that a deck will sometimes become so popular, that additional color versions tend to have a "watering down" effect of the valuation, real or perceived, of that successful original. I understand the thinking on all sides, but I'm happy with my purchases and want everyone to have the opportunity to get a deck, or version of a deck, that makes them just as happy. If that means multiple colors, then so be it! no one would consider my vast collection complete or perfect, but it's what I have wanted over the years, and it satisfies me and in the end, that's what should matter to a collector of anything.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
Well said. It's very easy to be swayed into collecting in a certain way just because it is the "norm", I've been in that place myself. I would never fault anyone for buying certain decks or certain brands, as long as they do it for the "right reasons" (in quotes because it can mean different things depending on the individual).BiggerDee wrote:it's what I have wanted over the years, and it satisfies me and in the end, that's what should matter to a collector of anything.
Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
Well, I'm getting this deck for that that gold plate. I'm guessing the middle deck in the picture is the "limiteder" one.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
I like to use my Decks, so I'm all good with different color variations where they make sense. It definitely makes sense with these! My Poker buddies love the Blue Luxury Deck. We have a game next week and I can't wait to bring the Red's to have a real Poker set.
Here's a shot of the AOS with a tease of the Brick Box in the background.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
I was tempted to buy a brick but then my mind kicked in and i decided against 12 decks.
The brick box is a nice piece of cardboard for sure.
As a international customer i have to deal with higher shipping and 19% customs on top of the total.
Maybe i will pick up 3 decks or wait for a good trade of the blue&red set.

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck (Blue & Red)
I am still a bit turned off by the Blue Crown. I like the cards and I like to have every deck Mr Butterfeild is involved in. Still I think the way they handled the Gold Crown deck left a bad taste in a number of people's mouths. I may hold of on these. I am waiting for the release of the Imperial deck and then I will lift my boycott on Blue Crown. The luxury deck looks very nice and as I said I like to support my main man Randy. I think we are entering a period where we should some interesting releases from the usual card companies. In my opinion Mr. Butterfeild raises the bar on the arts of these cards. I am really happy to see him having success.

Me too. Just look at their deck releases: Their first basic deck in blue, red, green, gold AND black, and now they're already on the second color of a slightly tweaked version of the same deck. Blah...walrus wrote:I am still a bit turned off by the Blue Crown.
