Apology

Unread post by Aliasfour »

Greetings everyone
First I need you to delete my post about the faith playing cards please.
Second I’m not running away from criticism so you think I’m weak but simply I can’t tolerate being disrespected and after defending myself I get the punishment
Third I wish someone interferes when such stuff happen and I don’t even know how you accept for anyone to tell someone you have zero chance to succeed and then another one comes in saying your art work is so bad and amateur and you can’t succeed ,taking it to a personal level.
Finally, I regret joining I usually never regret anything I learn but this time regret is eating me alive because I can’t defend my respect and dignity because I get blamed for defending myself.

Enjoy your community and I wish you all the best.
Thank you Everyone for this amazing chance

You do know that Montenzi is an established deck designer, right...?

It's called "Freedom of Speech". The admins and mods allow us to express ourselves as long as we don't derail things and/or get too personal.

You're definitely running away from criticism, because Montenzi was very concise, and others were actually trying to be constructive. Have you seen how I comment on new decks of playing cards? I'll call them straight-up 'shit that should've never been printed'.

This isn't a place for the weak of mind. Good luck in life.

I’m not WEAK. And if freedom of speech includes saying your deck will never be refunded that’s amazing and what’s more amazing including my mom in the conversation and calling me an amateur and he doesn’t even know. And some things happened I’m not gonna talk about because it got too personal. I tried first explaining more for Montenzi about the design it’s not my problem if he’s an idiot. I accept every single criticism but once taken personal It went off the limits. Not showing off but I wanna clear out I came here to show the deck for this community and get feedback though I don’t need it because I already have the support of big companies and big names in the card community, soo whatever you say I gain more confidence and get stronger, everyone who have seen the deck understood immediately why the deck is named Faith without knowing the story, but not my problem if he didn’t understand it even after explaining some criticism need to be based on real things, not throwing words. I’m so happy in my life, and everything is well I don’t need you wishing me luck. And FYI if you have seen the first replies/feedback on my post you would see how I responded happily and accepting the criticism but you just have to throw words with no meaning and judging me before you even know me

Thank you, much respect, much love and Good Luck for all of you that need luck.

Not sure if I am already speaking to an empty room.

I haven't been a part of the discussion with you or even looked at your drafts until now. From what I could read, folks were trying to give you honest feedback and not being trolls. Although, I can understand how you might interpret it that way. I don't see any problem with you pushing back. Heck, I have criticized lots of creators at some point. Among common complaints can be a creator is just too stuck in an established design and some people would like to see some variety. I can remember a comment like that with Giovanni, and he politely decided to keep doing art in the style he wants. I agree with his decision.

As for suggesting that you give up or such, I think that is rubbish. I would say, start small and have a low goal amount. Print with someone like MPC that can make some nice small issue cards. You definitely will not get rich. The goal though would be to just get some decks under your belt and learn. A lot of artists were already successful professional artists before they ever worked on a playing card project, but decided they liked it so much the did it as a regular side business or full time. Folks like Jody Eklund do playing card projects outside of their regular job as an art designer. I remember Scott Adams (Dilbert creater) mentioning he had a hard time getting initially published because his artwork was really weak. Scott admits his artwork was weak. He eventually got published, and even though he was successful with his comic strip, he still worked to become a better illustrator. If you look at his earlier work, you can easily see how much he improved. I just give Scott Adams story to say, it is okay to not be where you should or want to be. Get started and get better. Not everyone will back your project. You will not need everyone to back you to do a small project. So, my advice is do your thing and build on it.

Just in case if mods remove that thread, I'll post my comments here as I have no idea what @Aliasfour is going to say about me after that

Here is a very simple story (for most of us, not for @Aliasfour)
--------------------
I found this comment interesting:
Aliasfour wrote: I want to give the community what they deserve to see.
My first post was:
My second post was: 1. I mean that we deserve a little more than this. 2. Honestly, please don't waste your time. You have ZERO chances to produce a deck in this design.
--------------------

It's so funny! This guy reached me via Instagram and asked to explain two smiles: " " Really???   Ok. No problem. I went back and added my second comment.
I don't think I said anything wrong or bad or personal. But after that, he replied to every single post with a lot of hardcore sh^# (removed now).

I have nothing to add as I don't usually waste my time on such people.

I'll give you my two cents as a new designer.

Asking for feedback on the internet is always scary, because you pour your heart out on a project and nobody but you knows the amount of time and energy and courage it takes. This is why it is so hard to accept what you think is undeserved criticism.

On the other hand, if you are able to accept that people may not like what you do (and not everybody will, that's a fact), the feedback you receive is absolutely invaluable. But you do need to approach it with the right frame of mind and putting aside your pride. If you cannot do that, you probably don't want to seek feedback in a community that has seen thousands and thousands of decks, and will therefore (and rightfully) be strong in their opinions.

Best of luck with your project :)

Freedom of speech doesn't have the sort of arbitrary limitations that you seem to think matches your own sensibilities. I'm not sure how things work in Lebanon, but for the most part everywhere else, so long as the speech doesn't infringe on other rights, you are free to say just about anything. You can't ask for feedback and get offended when people give it to you.

"Freedom of Speech" includes anything and everything. The only limitations around here are (seemingly) when things get nasty personally. Montenzi wasn't attacking you. He was trying to be genuine. He and I do not see eye-to-eye often but we both respect the institution of opinion. He thinks your deck will never be funded. I agree with him.

Clearly you don't need feedback because you're set in your ways and have no interest of considering others' input. So what was the point...? We're not gonna blindly suck every new deck off.

I'm glad you're happy in life. My life is of less quality having seen your POS design. :D :D
