Club Pitch is finally out!
Hey United Cardists,
It's been about 7 months since we launched Club Pitch. And every day since has been an emotional roller coaster. That’s 213 days of total anarchy. For starters, the company we set out to promote (Pitch) was dissolved and absorbed by a bigger agency called Motive. This all took place while the Kickstarter was still active (and funded). Could the project continue? What would new leadership think of this? Would our bank accounts still even be active long enough to collect the money or fulfill the cost of shipping?
Needless to say we were on pins and needles, but long story short, Motive is a great company and we are now proud to be Motive LA. The name Pitch is now synonymous with a stylish playing card rather than a small ad agency. The only real change was the ad-card which evolved into a commemorative message to all the employees that worked for Pitch and moved on. In the end, this endeavor took a 180º turn into a more heartfelt and rare project. Especially version 2.1, the Blackjack edition, which needed to cap at only 360 units.
Maybe it’s a passion project by definition. Maybe it’s an experiment in card design. Regardless of what it means to you, I’m simply thrilled to see them out in the world and honored to have them present in Murphy's Magic alongside some of my all-time favorite decks.
-Cheers

Good for you, Duane! I love to see designers and creators put passion into their projects and it must be a great feeling to hold the real thing - a dream realized. Best of luck with Motive LA

I ran across this deck a bit ago and because I am a total sucker for anything green, I picked up a deck and added it to my collection. I also registered it in Portfolio52 at https://www.portfolio52.com/deck/9826/view Feel free to log in and update any missing information on the deck!

Amazing! Thank you for doing this. I tried to update the Blackjack image, but I may not be able to update because I log in with facebook. I think I've had this issue in the past. I've attached front and I can take a pic of the back later.kem-collector wrote:I ran across this deck a bit ago and because I am a total sucker for anything green, I picked up a deck and added it to my collection. Re: Club Pitch is finally out!
I think this deck turned out really good. Better than expected. I pledged on KS because I liked them, obviously, but I am kind of amazed at how much I like them. There is something about the design that I cannot put my finger on.
The standard tuck with no embossing is really nice. It's not a craft paper but it is matte. Sort of between a plain glossy and a craft paper. I really like it. The way the design wraps around the tuck and the interior printing design.
The green foil on the black looks excellent. When you open the tuck to the same map design but in green foil, it's nearly blinding.
I could have done with different courts but the card backs have that same feeling of a pleasing design without being able to pinpoint it. The black with green gradient in the corner makes fans looks really nice. Probably a my top contender so far for best fanning deck for next years awards.
All in all a great deck that I remember being a really reasonable price. I am happy I got both versions even though the cards are the same.

OK, I updated the photo with the one that you provided and some information I got off of your KS page. I could not find the name of the printer (SHAME!) so I had to put unknown. Once the P52 admins push the update it should show.

Without getting out of bed to actually look, it is on the bottom of the tuck and I believe it said EPCC.

Re: Club Pitch is finally out!
I had just re-organized all my decks and all the one-offs got put into a big pile that I really do not want to go digging through to find it. I really need to work on a way to sort all of these decks....

Re: Club Pitch is finally out!
First off, thanks for supporting and I'm glad you're digging them. I hear you on the green foil. It surpassed my expectations, and i felt like a deer in headlights the first time I opened the tuck. So grateful that we were able to meet this particular stretch goal to make the Blackjacks a reality.STLBluesNut wrote:The green foil on the black looks excellent. Nice to see that everything went well despite the uncertainty. Maybe we see more decks from you?
