Re: Fig. 25 Playing Cards
Looks like a decent deck, and I have enjoyed the work of Cosmo Solano, but the marketing video says, "Introducing the first deck of cards worthy of a patent."
Not. Even. Close.
Here's a starter list of a few current patents: https://patents.justia.com/patents-by-u ... on/D21/376
But, pretty much every new technology incorporated into playing card design at one time or another (including corner indices, so-called "triplicate" indices, etc.) has a patent associated with it.
Murphy, I love you guys, but your marketing team is having issues.

Re: Fig. 25 Playing Cards
+1, another thing I'd put after that "but" is that there's already like 30 decks "inspired by" or "paying homage to" the Erdnase's EATCT book. Hell, it could fit in with our running "Steampunk Cthulhu Pirate etc etc" running inside joke at this point.rousselle wrote:Looks like a decent deck, and I have enjoyed the work of Cosmo Solano, but...

There is the so called "2+2" technique of story telling in good movies. It means the movie doesn't tell the audience/spectator every tiny detail of the story, it let's the viewer put things together by combining the hints. It means the movie makers don't underestimate their audience.
Why am I writing this? Because it would be more than awesome if retailers like Murphys or E! could buy into that trope and could stop acting like the consumer is a retarded moron that needs to be reeled in by hearing exaggorated fairy tales about a product...

Re: Fig. 25 Playing Cards
Well since no one is talking about the actual deck

I get that the Aces might not be for everyone but I like them
Since I don't have any of the other various Erdnase-inspired decks -- none of them have really jumped out at me -- this has my attention, especially the limited tuck
But why in the world do the wood bookends and two-deck box/case essentially cost $45??

I'm the same: I've never really bought into any of the Erdnase decks to date, but I like this one!

Re: Fig. 25 Playing Cards
Funny thing is that this deck was originally released on 2017 directly by Cosmo. I got mine sometime in 2018...the tuck is pretty cool. Can’t say much else as I’m a tucker

A deck a day helps keep the addiction at bay!

I both like and hate this.

Re: Fig. 25 Playing Cards
There is not much to talk about after the gazillion of Erdnase tribute decks.hsbc wrote:Well since no one is talking about the actual deck

I have to admit that from all of them I like this the most though. The back design is the best I've seen on an Erdnase deck and I like the idea of the pages fading in the background of the faces.
Nothing justifies that hefty price though. The tuck box should at least have printed an imitation of actual pages on the sides. Now it is just a plain glossy uninspired tuck box glued into a hard cover - speaking of missed opportunities. The two tiny cheap woodstands don't justify the hefty price either.
Thank you so much - I knew I've seen these decks long ago. It boggled my mind.shermjack wrote:Funny thing is that this deck was originally released on 2017 directly by Cosmo. I got mine sometime in 2018...the tuck is pretty cool. Can’t say much else as I’m a tucker

Re: Fig. 25 Playing Cards
So the tuck box collectors finally decided on the more suggestive 'Tuckers' term and not 'Tuckists'?vasta41 wrote:shermjack wrote:Can’t say much else as I’m a tucker

Great! That'll be the official term now on UC for tuck box collectors who just so happen to enjoy the weight and feel of the cards inside.
