There'll be no pics of the deck until people receive them and then post pics?

No no no, I don't think you're quite grasping the concept yet. Going by what he said Lotrek will not reveal anything himself ever, and although he can't control it of course, sounds like he will strongly encourage anyone who owns one to never do so publicly either, no image of it should exist, ever, even years from now. So that it can truly be a secret only known to those who actually have one in their possession, like a legend, revealing it would essentially end the game and ruin the fun and mystery. I don't think anyone here at least would do that, it would be incredibly bad form and Lotrek might blacklist them from ever buying his decks again (ok ok there's no evidence of that, but it's what I would do lol). It won't be too hard, it's difficult enough finding real world pictures of normal decks as it is a lot of the time. If anyone ever wants to sell theirs it could make things interesting (on that note this sounds perfect for a 1 per person limit). Of course you could get a current holder to give you a private viewing as a prospective buyer I suppose, perhaps a quick flash via video chat so you don't have time for a screenshot, but I wouldn't risk even that.Bikefanatic wrote:receive them and then post pics?
Honestly the entire idea sounds like a whole lot of sneaky fun and is certainly not for the faint of heart, well it is a crypt after all!

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
I'm looking forward to photos on Instagram with lens flare in the exact wrong place, a cat or a dog poking its head across frame, or just a black void where the deck would be; the creative possibilities could be endless.
Or would it be better to act as if the deck didn't exist and owners act as if they're oblivious when it's mentioned?

You'll probably see pics at least on Ebay from resellers trying to price gouge for it.

I suppose when the resellers buy the deck when released, they will get it and take pictures for when they sell. Also, as much as Lotrek and others would love to keep this a secret, there is going to be at least one troll who will take pleasure in posting just to ruin it and piss people off.

As I was wandering through "crypt" photos, I found out there was this place called Guildhall in London underground. I lived in the city and didn't even know about this place. It looks cool and I understand is rented out for rather nice events. Sometimes crypts can be rather fancy places.
Back on subject. I like the idea of keeping images of these decks forbidden. Making them a true mystery decks. I'll take a dozen. Hopefully there is some money in my desecrated bank account.

This is my point too. Somebody could spill the beans.
When I get the deck and don't like it, I'm selling it for $100,000.

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
Obviously, having a deck kept as a secret shared only by those who own it is:
1) A lot of fun and a very exciting situation
2) Impossible in the internet era.
However, it will also be fun to see how long will it last.
In our times, where sharing pictures is the easiest of things, part of the mystery and anticipation is lost.
I remember about 20 years ago I ordered from a central bookstore in Athens a US published book on stringed instrument making. I only knew the title of the book. There were no images available and I had only read a few things somewhere about it. The anticipation was incredible! For 2 months until the book came I was fervently imagining what secrets of instrument making it would reveal, what it would look like etc. The book eventually came, it was a very good book but what I really kept is the mystery of the two months' waiting.
I would love it if the secret could be kept for a long time and a legend is created around the deck. It would be so fascinating to see people selling and buying something that they have never seen before, only heard or read about.
There is so much more to that than just selling an expensive deck. Mystery is part of playing cards and this secrecy game I think will add a lot to the experience.
It's also an adrenaline game: The more you anticipate it, the more it has to meet your expectations. Will I manage to make you all happy? -With the exception of CapraStubbornDonkey of course

To help keep the secrecy I would suggest placing the finished product inside some sort of "fake" tuck box.Lotrek wrote:Obviously, having a deck kept as a secret shared only by those who own it is:

Thus, anyone who wanted to see the actual product has to open the fake box in order to see the real tuck box.
The fake box should also be designed so that anyone who opens it automatically decreases the decks value

Everything has already been planned.
The goal is to have people see the deck but not show it.

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
This sounds fun for those who purchase and I hope some troll doesn't spoil it for everyone. I think it will be unavoidable unfortunately. Someone will do it just to be an a hole or someone will do it because they are ask proud of having the deck they will have to show it off.
Mystery decks like this are not really for me. While it could end up being the greatest deck ever that I would regret not getting, it would be even more disappointing to spend that amount of money, assuming it is priced like the other premium Lotrek decks, and not like it. Especially as there have already been few decks that I have liked enough for that price.
I suppose I could sell it at that point but the disappointment would remain. There are plenty of great decks out there that I don't own and don't mind adding another. Even when others post what they got from mystery decks, generally it is something that I don't like and even I die a little inside.
I have been very happy that I did not fight for and get a JR monthly sub. The vast majority of the sub decks I have not liked the design, especially for the asking price. I hope all who jump in love what they get in the end.

I like to open all of my decks, so I am curious if this will be a tuck we can open safely or if the cards will be locked in a crypt for the sake of mystery. I am definitely intrigued and I think I am in, I just don't want to have to ruin the tuck to enjoy the cards. I don't think that's likely but thought I would ask.

I don't know what this means, is it wrong to think it would be fun, or to explain this idea to someone who didn't understand it? I hate to imagine the depressing sad sack kind of person who could find something wrong with that. Please, explain to us what you hate about the idea of the Crypt guys, no need to be quiet or passive aggressive about it, I'm sure Lotrek is open to criticism as he knows it isn't for everyone.Harvonsgard wrote:Just out of curiosity - are you hanging out with Bruno lately?

I tend to disagree. Just like The Rise of Skywalker, the longer people wait the greater the expectation is. And once it's released the experience doesn't always live up to the hype (I unfortunately have low hopes for Ep. IX but I digress).Lotrek wrote:The more you anticipate it, the more it has to meet your expectations.
I'm just speaking in generalities since your decks usually always deliver. Plus if the secret/surprise has to do with opening the deck we all know that's not happening in my house anyway

Isn't that exactly what Lotrék means? He wants the expectations to be high. And he sets himself the challenge to match - or even exceed - them with this deck and not to disappoint - like other things did.vasta41 wrote:I tend to disagree. And with no explanation (that anyone can believe) the Emperor cackles "I'm back pathetic ones! Haaaaaahaaahaaaa! Execute Order 37 commander." and so the saga ends with cowards and idiots at the helm of an epic saga. [MURRAY] I am sure the special effects are great, but the story is so dead to me. I can't bring myself to watch it. That is saying something for someone that stood in insane lines as a kid and young adult to watch the first three movies on the first screening of the first day... I never get why people are upset about such things. The OG triology are still great Sci-Fi movies.
