Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
I got an update to my Patreon account with Thirdway that says a new Eva decks is upcoming called Eva Noire! It looks really, really good. There will be an unlimited and a limited deck.
I would like to post a picture and some more details from the update but I am not sure I should since this info is only available right now to his Patreon members. Is it OK to do this, or would it be frowned upon?

I think you should wait and let Gio make that announcement here. Or check with him before you share more. Just my .02

If you're going to post about it at all, post pictures. If you are worried it is poor form, not including pictures doesn't make it better. Either go all in, or wait for Gio to make the post himself.brownsl wrote:I would like to post a picture and some more details from the update but I am not sure I should since this info is only available right now to his Patreon members. Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
Hello guys!
Patrons are always allowed to share what they see![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
When I am publishing on Patreon, I am already considering that news can leak.
So no problem at all, and I am posting few pics here myself.
This is a new version (I mean different courts) of my original Eva. It will be available for Patrons who have at least the Sword of the Conqueror tier and also for regular preorder on my website.
ETA early 2020, it's already in production with Modern Idols.
Hope you'll like it!

Gio's style continues to be a broken record.
His geometric artwork & style continues to reflect through every deck he creates which makes them an easy pass for me and others.
Time to get outta your shell Gio and move forward with another design aspect all together.

aznh... It is totally fine that you are not into this design. I am sure Gio appreciates the feedback good or bad. But you also continue to be a broken record on that very topic... Maybe it is also time to move ahead and ignore what you clearly do not like hehehe

Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
I'd like to know who all these 'others' are lol and why they didn't affect the massive successes of Monolith and Order. This year has seen multiple completely different styles from Gio, but of course you choose to nitpick on the remake of a previous deck, the only one specifically meant to be like his previous works. That's a transparently lame move. I think it's time for you to actually pay attention...

Gio definitely utilized a different style with The Order. If you missed it, you need to get your eyes checked.

Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
I'm happy to inform you that yes, to each their own, and you're definitely in the minority. The postures are similar, yes, but if you call this similar and seeks to crap on Gio, might as well go on and crap on Jackson, Lorenzo, Lotrek, Bicycle, Tally-Ho, Copag, Nicolai... etc. in all random order. Because judging by how you look at Gio's art as the same, all playing cards out there look the same to you.

Yeah Gio, these are terrible, when are you going to change it up? No wonder your last decks took a whole hour to fund.

Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
I think you proved my point actually. I do agree to the phrase "to each his own". I'd even go so far as to say that I also like Gio to step outside of the same style, which was one reason why I liked The Order. Of course, my main reason for liking it was the whole dystopian theme he used. In this case, it is a variant of Eva, so I see the need to keep the style similar. I hope Gio will explore other design styles like he did in The Order. Yes, it is definitely still Gio's artwork that will come through. That is in my mind a good thing.
Below is a painting by Van Gogh. It is definitely his work, but a different style.
![Image](https://lh4.ggpht.com/4rwd0rVdfMfQIt9a8tZE6cKNNNHjJ9sjnNHdYNkC2C2_qsPGAkVXV_4ZCc4gnamFOjBXBNp8QIWwTiOGlgpamMjxXFX11ZbGI18xBsxPIg)
I guess it comes down to how you define "style". I definitely don't come at this from a trained art background. I mean, I can see more than a few people look at the painting above and call it "crap" and refuse to take it home if offered it for free. To others, I can assure you, it is a priceless piece of art and would create a huge bidding war taking the final sale price into the millions or tens of millions. I'd sure take it home and hang it on my walls!![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
I do have to agree that Gio uses the same art style for his decks; vectors and lines. Order does not deviate from that; it just misses the lines and therefore, I wouldn't say someone needs to rethink his perception or needs new glasses because he sees the obvious similarities over the differences.
You reap what you sow though, so a kind of tact is always advised when putting critic out there, anzh.
The critic itself, is kind of redundant at best. Why would you critic someone for being himself? Why would you ask an artist to change stuff he loves to put out there? I for my part see enough evolution and differences in details in his series and decks to say they are different enough for me to buy different series from him.

I hate this rehash of a great standalone deck, though. Eva is one of my favorite decks of all-time. I am disappointed that it's being revised. I won't have the complete Sins/Eva series, now.

I guess the way I define art and styles, i would have to agree that, even in the Order, Gio used the same "style." It is his style. It is his clearly unique, defining style. I think the Order and Monolith stepped away in theme, not style.
I guess the Order was a bit less detailed more like the Lunatics decks. More kind of chunky and "blocky", if you will. However, that style that resonates throughout his decks is what I love about his art and cannot get enough of.

Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
I guess it depends on style. Gio was using a totally different art style for The Order using more of an early 20th Century communist style artwork. It reeks of utopianism, which is a play on the dystopian reality he was portraying.

I have posted the digital proofs on Patreon, on a locked post... however, I want to post them here as well because I think the more people with sharp eyes will look at the cards, the less the chance to have mistakes.
Of course, as I said with Modern Idols, if you find issues I'll reward you.

I could understand if the Joker (arrow on the left) and the Queen of Spades have forked tongues; however, the ladies on the Ace of Spades and the majority of the court cards seem to have irregular color chipping for their lower lip. Is this because that these are just proof files?
That chipping is also on the tuck box file.

Re: Eva Noire - Upcoming Thirdway Deck
The card backs and the back of the tuck on one end have one gold leaf instead of green. This may be intended but does make the backs one way. Not that I care if they are one way.
