Who am I? Why am I here?

Howdy!

I'm Bill, and I don't fully understand why I like playing cards. I don't play a lot of card games (except for occasional solitaire), and while I'm somewhat interested in magic, I have no real skill in cardistry or sleight of hand.

I started getting hooked when the Bicycle Vintage Design series came out a few years ago. Something about them rekindled the fascination of being a kid and finding a decades-old deck with a cool back design tucked in the corner of an old desk. (This is not to be confused with the very different fascination of finding that deck with pictures of Bettie Page and the like in the back of Dad's dresser drawer.)

Being of an eclectic disposition, my interest in cards will wax and wane for no particular reason, as will my interests in comics, Converse All Stars, absinthe, Mid-Century modern design, and obscure cinema (to name a few). (Oh, yes. Parentheses are also an interest.)

My username is based on a character I played in an independent (and rarely shown) independent film I co-produced. A story for another time.
