About this project:

Royal Crown Playing Card Co are making their official debut on Kickstarter with a crisp clean range of deck designs featuring their Trademark Royal Crown Striping card backing design and custom Royal Crown Aces.

The Courts in these decks are your familiar USA Standard that you know and love, and are dipped in Royal Blue, Royal Red and Royal Green inks.

These decks are to be printed using RCPCC’S Casino Quality 310gsm Royal Linen Card Stock with Air Pocket Finish for superior card performance and handling.

The Tuck boxes for these decks are to be wrapped in their Trademark Royal Crown Striping and sealed with custom Royal Crown box seals in either Blue, Red or Green to match.

Decks will be available individually or as part of a range of Founders Edition Deck sets in a range of colour combinations that will each include an individually numbered Silver Gilded Certificate of Authenticity with Serial Number to protect the value of your investment by preventing counterfeiting.

I almost got these for the access to creating custome cards. I am not a graphic designer or illustrator so I decided against it as I would probably never use it or make something worth printing.

I think for someone who has those skills or interests that it would be a pretty good deal.

Received an update for this project,

Dear Backers,

It is with deep sadness that I must inform you all that in the wake of the recent Coronavirus outbreak, it has become very apparent to us that fulfillment of the Royal Crown Kickstarter is expected to experience lengthy delays until further notice.

Both CLCPC Studio 52 and RCPCC as of now are officially closed until further notice, and it is unclear when or if we will be able to reopen any time soon. The reason for this closure is that although we are situated in Australia, all of our manufacturing and fulfillment partners are situated in China where this Coronavirus originated, and since China is currently in complete lockdown while trying to contain this outbreak, we are no longer able to arrange for the manufacture and/or export any of any of our products at this time.

I assume this will affect other decks manufactured in China.

And then this later on in the update,

If for any reason we are unable to have the Royal Crown decks manufactured, we will be looking at issuing a partial pledge refund to all Backers (Partial Pledge = Pledge total, including full shipping cost refund, minus project related expenses, Kickstarter fees and taxes).

I am going to be annoyed if I receive only a partial refund. I would feel bad that Craig would take a loss by issuing a full refund but at the same time I am sure his backers don't want to either.

I think this is that final nail in the coffin for me. I was not pleased with his last campaign (Wine Cellar thing) but decided to give him another chance. I know unforeseen circumstances and whatnot, but there seems to be other solutions here. A partial refund? That is just...bad.

Not a backer, but if I was I would want this to be handled the same way Nemesis should have handled his unfortunate circumstances: Outline the options, and ask backers what they would prefer.

An option that wasn't mentioned in the update is to simply produce them elsewhere. Yes, it will take longer than originally thought (but perhaps not as long as waiting until the virus-situation clears up) and might end up costing more, but surely it should at least be investigated?
