Frozen Metal & The Cube
Ain''t nothing cooler than an ice cube...
EDIT: Haha, I thought I had posted the pics here and in fact I had deleted the only one, when trying to post the others. Anyway, are the images of our 'Frozen Metal' deck and The Cube (as display). Som may have been aware that we had something else we were going to launch and then decided against it in the main campaign. It's different to anything we've done before, so decided it should be launched as a stand-alone.
And yes....we are going to send one to Ice Cube, of course

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
We're still gathering the cost info re the injection moulds for the ice cube and once we have that we can set a goal for it and get the KS page started. Still have some work to do, despite this having been conceived and designed about 2-3 months ago.
Probable KS dates will be 5th Nov - 5th Dec.
Excited to deliver something different...something that will surely stand out in a playing cards display. The 'frost' (it's actual name by KURZ Foils) holographic foil is really nice too...I'll try get a video of it and post that somewhere viewable, so people can get a proper impression...it's really cool (sorry ).

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
How does this display work? Is the 'ice' open on the back end to put the deck in? Is it a TwoPiece design that completely surrounds the deck? I might go in on this one.VXD wrote:We're still gathering the cost info re the injection moulds for the ice cube and once we have that we can set a goal for it and get the KS page started. Now why would you be interested in a TwoPiece design?theCapraAegagrus wrote:Is it a TwoPiece design that completely surrounds the deck? I might go in on this one.

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
That is sweet. I just had my Vegas Diffractor decks out this morning. One just can't get tired of seeing those cards. At least for me. I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone, lol. So with your metal case manufacturer all sorted out, what can we expect as far as a timeline? I think this might end up being the centerpiece of my display. The ice cube is just too cool not to be.

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
A better look at the 'Frost' foil by Kurz here (for anyone that doesn't know, Kurz are the world leaders in quality of hot foils):
https://youtu.be/acCajvNlkVc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re The Cube and whether it will be OnePiece or TwoPiece ( ), we think we are going with OnePiece for 2 reasons:
1) Cost of moulds - More moulds = higher production cost (each injection mould can be $4-6K, dependant on factors)
2) If we went with 2 parts, then a join would be visible on the 2 sides. A slot at the back (not much larger than the thickness of the metal case is a better solution, we think, as there are then 3 faces of the ice cube that are not interrupted in any way and the 'display' works better. Open to further thoughts & opinions though on this and we're still discussing the options with the factory.
Re delivery - looking currently at delivery at the same time as the London Diffractor (April).

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
Just got a notification that this will be launching tomorrow (12th NOV) AT 5PM EST / 11PM CET, link here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/13 ... d-the-cube
But for some reason the operating account on KS is no longer under "VXD Felipe Diz" in New York but "Diffractor Playing Cards" in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Original: https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/zeedog/about
Now: https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1366593885/about
Also, account "VXD" doesn't exist on UC anymore... Guess Andrew is out.

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
I checked the link for the preliminary site, but it doesn't give any information on the cost or tiers. I kinda went all out for the last project, so not sure I can be in for this one with all of my Convention and post convention purchases. It does look cool, so hope I can be in. New account is "VXD2".

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
Think Andrew is taking a break. He posted this from the VXD2 account in the Las Vegas thread:
My sincere apologies (to Roope and Thedissident + others). That was uncalled for and childish. Deactivated that account - time for a timeout and reflection. It has been a stressful time, but there is no excuse for random vibes, at anyone. Apologies.

Is there going to be an option for just the deck? $99 is too steep for me

You can keep checking, but I doubt it. I feel your pain. I just missed the single EB tier myself.

I don't know exactly why,but I've yet to purchase a diffractor deck. Price is certainly part of it but also some of the comments from VXD account rubbed me the wrong way. I'll continue to wait on the sidelines.

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube
I have the Violet Vegas Diffractor and I like the novelty, but the overall quality is a bit subpar, at least to me. Magik mentioned it before, the cut of the cards is uneven; some cards are slightly bigger than others and the Diffractor effect is highly dependable on the light surroundings. Don't get me wrong, I do understand that the R&D is a huge chunk of the price, but for what they cost, I prefer to get an Lotrék deck.Strag wrote:I don't know exactly why,but I've yet to purchase a diffractor deck. The strange comments are as well something that leaves me very puzzled. But I have to point out that during the pre-order and fullfillment for my aforementiond deck, I never encountered something else than politeness and professionalism from Andrew in the email exchange and was very pleased with the customer service.

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube (wap)
I was thinking the opposite, (if I had the money) is there a way to get the cube without the deck? An Arabesque Silver would look like a jewel in one of these lol.macstrat wrote:Is there going to be an option for just the deck? $99 is too steep for me

Re: Frozen Metal & The Cube (wap)
That actually sounds like a great way to display an Arabesque Silver Collector deck. Keep in mind the space is designed for a Vertex Metal Case, so it will be larger than a standard deck. Even so, I think a standard deck would probably look great inside it as well.
