I'm a bit over the adversarial nature of red/blue tucks. After Pinocchio, Parlour and these it feels ... blegh. That said, I would dig a black variant in this design. Maybe pink.

We're planning to include 4 decks in this project, one of which will be black/gold. Each deck will include a card that contains part of the tetraptych illustration attached below (artwork not quite final yet). Also attached is the latest look at the spade courts (roman numerals need to be adjusted) and the tuckbox interior design (also not quite yet final). And what we're looking at in terms of the layout of the spot cards (roman numeral for 9 needs fixing).

I generally love lots of color, but a single color works for this project. It has the feel of illustrations in a book (or books in this case). I really like the complexity of design you are building in, but yet the art can still stand up fine on each card. That is quite a feat.

Are they going to have different tucks, courts, etc.? Otherwise four is a LOT - I'd be worried about two with only a color difference between them

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share an update on this project...

A few of you have been asking about differences between the 4 decks and Srdjan and I have been discussing some options on how to differentiate them so that they aren't just the same artwork packaged in different color tucks.

Srdjan has been playing around with adding more color to the illustrations and at the moment I'm thinking the versions will be something like this:

Red deck: Single-color artwork (2 colors on the deck faces, red/blue)
Blue deck: Full-color artwork (adding fill color to the courts and some of the other elements on each card)
Green deck: Full-color artwork + metallic inks (similar to blue deck but using metallic inks for a different overall effect)
Black deck: Single-color artwork + gold (and silver?) foil fill (by Cartamundi)...we *may* use foil on both fronts and backs of the deck, also considering gilding these (foiled fronts and gilding may be stretch goals)

I take it all back. This is a great design. Really digging it. Really like to see a design similar to this in green.

I know I've kinda been doing the hokey-pokey over these decks, but I'm back in.

Still not a fan of the name of the card on the banner. I would prefer a pattern or symbols (like in the bottom pat of the banner), but that is just a personal preference.
The multi-coloured courts are awesome imo.

For the different versions... turns me off immediatly. Especially since it has become so lackluster these days. This shall not to be meant as in designers don't put effort in the different versions; but it fells for me too much of trying to please certain different crowds instead of creating stunning art. I prefer if an artist sells me his clear and personal vision of a deck/theme and don't trys to please everyone. I understand that this might be difficult if one creates playing cards for a living.
In addition to that topic if every version is purchaseable alone, then I would be okay with it. But If I get a deck for example only in a set with other versions that I don't want, that is a reason for me to stay away completely.

I wasn't interested in these before, despite the detailed artwork, but the colour changes that and completely elevates the artwork. Don't add any more, keep it just to the figures themselves. Sounds like the green would be the one for me, honestly 4 versions is definitely too many though.

I liked these from the start and the fill colors make them better. I too, would probably only opt for one or 2 or the decks, not the full 4 deck set.

At the moment here's are the options I'm thinking of offering to backers...

4-deck box set - $99 (US shipping included)
- red, blue, green, & black decks
- includes outer cardboard packaging sleeve + carat case + outer shrinkwrap
- matching serial #s on all 4 decks (#1-500)

4-deck set (no box) - $69 (US shipping included)
- red, blue, green, & black decks
- numbered seals but not necessarily matching serials (#501+)

Single decks - $16 [red/blue/green], $21 [black] (US shipping included)
- red, blue, green, or black deck
- numbered seal (#501+)

Display deck add-on - $3-4 [red/blue/green], $5-6 [black]
- no printed tuckbox (just cards in either cellowrap or white box)
- inexpensive and available so you can view cards without breaking seals of numbered/sealed decks

The black decks will be printed by cartamundi with foil on the cards. They will include foiled backs and stretch goals may include foiled faces and *maybe* gilded edges (I need to research this a bit more).

There's a few surprises in store as well, to be announced later

An early bird offer is possible on the 4-deck set (no box) tier, but I don't think we can do it on the boxed sets.

Taking into account the popularity of the later (especially) limited Planets decks ... Here's hoping the launch is Australia-time-zone-friendly.

1. Think twice before doing this. Seriously, one color + foil is a risky combination.

2. I don't think you can use gold+silver. Those are base foils. I am not sure if they can apply both. You can still print some gold colors on top of silver foil.

Why is 1 color + foil risky? Isn't that what the Parlour foiled decks are?

Yes, I meant adding colors on top of foil, rather than multiple actual foils...

There are three colors in Parlour - white (paper), black, gold. "Single-color artwork" means one base color + foil for me. Most of the time it's black + gold, and I don't think it works. It's just my very subjective opinion

When I said 1-color artwork + foil, I meant white paper with a single ink color (blue or red) plus gold foiling as well (similar to the Parlour decks).
