The artwork on this is decent, in a nostalgic kind of way. It reminds me of what I'd see on space-themed kids pajamas or a blanket. Overall I've seen much worse decks, this was good enough to get me to look at it.
But I'm way too nerdy for this. Most of the cards are solar system, but then the JoD is a black hole? The aces are three manmade features/achievements, and...comets? Pluto and Earth's moon get cards, but not Ceres, or even the asteroid belt? What about the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud?
I had to really squint to see it, but the "First Launch" AoS gives a date of May 25, 1961. Now, it's possible a rocket was launched somewhere on this date and I'm unaware of it, but this deck seems to be referencing the Apollo Program. May 25, 1961 is the date President Kennedy gave his famous address to Congress proposing the goal of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely. The first launch of the Apollo Program was SA-1 on October 27, 1961.
FInally, purely from a design perspective, why is every other solar system body depicted at distance, as a sphere, while the sun is depicted close up in a full-card, borderless magnification of the surface? Shouldn't that be a gaff card or something (I get that's it's trying to be "to scale" but it makes no sense design-wise)? And given that the deck is essentially borderless and they do cite cardistry as an intended application, one might ask for some kind of more interesting spread/fan pattern to emerge.
If this were about 50% more educational I'd buy two for myself and one for my nephew so we have an excuse to talk about space.
I think Outsider has summarized my thoughts waaaay better than even I could. I definitely think the educational/historical components could be improved but that isn't the reason I'll pass - it's the card backs. Aside from some colorful dots, the only real feature of the card backs is the company name. I don't think the company name has a place on the card backs. It belongs on the tuck or on an ad card/joker/ace. It's almost there for me.
Both are nice changes! I don't think I should swing it though, October has been a hell of a month already. All the kickstarters, Riffle Shuffle halloween deck, Ellusionist sale, an order of coins from Gio and I may be missing something else lol. Good thing I am not married or else I probably wouldn't be any longer.
I pledged for 1x standard and 1x limited but received 2x limited by mistake. I messaged the creator and offered to return one in exchange for a standard as there were only 30ish limited printed and I was worried that I might have someone else's deck, but he assured me that he'd over-printed and that everyone who was due a limited deck had one.
So I have a spare limited deck available if anyone wants it; £ 20 plus postage.

Actually, Jason ended up printing 200 of those decks (a few he's keeping for himself and for safe keeping), but the rest is reserved by backers already.

Do you find something on my Portfolio52 interesting for you?
Also, do you got your standard one?
Well someone else was first, so no deck for me. Looking for the Standard and maybe the limited one. If anyone wants to trade I have some nice decks on my PF52 tradelist.
