The $80-$85 price point in toto for a single deck like this, from an artist with no track record, despite the fact I really do like the other artwork is just ...
$50-$60 I'd start to be thinking about it. $40-$50 and I'd probably buy it.
But yeah charging near enough to $40 shipping on a $45 deck ....... poor form.
As a designer currently running a campaign for a gold gilded, fully hand-drawn art deck, I felt my price tag of about $20 (its in yen) was fair - though some still commented - obviously the reputation of the designer, and the printer is a big issue for people judging value. I tried to listen to the community and have set the next stretch goal to upgrade printers to EPCC. Hopefully the community then consider the price tag well worth it and will come together to help us reach that stretch goal.
But as for reputation, how does one create more respect/admiration within the playing card industry (even if you have a large and diverse portfolio of work outside of it)? It is just engagement and time?
This is true.
It's perhaps not the best comparison given you're on Kickstarter and Dustin isn't - and probably slightly OT - but if we consider what you're offering in your campaign, I could have 3 of your decks and still be $10 short for one of Dustin's.
Bought one! There is actually just a one deck left anymore although the seller might have still a few left to sell which he hasn't listed on Etsy... Maybe. Maybebaby.
Had it shipped to Sherman so I won't be seeing it for a while now, but at least I won't be paying close to 30 € postage fees for one deck.

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.

I like the art, but was hoping to hear back from one of the purchasers as to how happy they were with the finished product before I placed my order. Now, apparently, it's sold out. Alas.

They will not begin shipping until mid October so we'll be waiting for over a month still to see how these actually are.
Maybe someone here got a duplicate?

When this thread started, I reached out to Dustin on Instagram and he mentioned the stock on the website was intentionally lower than what he actually had. I believe he keeps some off the site to sell at events like the recent DragonCon he just attended. It might not hurt to send him a private message on Instagram to see if he will cough one up
I got the Etsy notification in my "promotions" folder in Gmail. You might want to check your spam if you use something other than Gmail. I almost missed the update entirely

I just got my cards in yesterday. I would really call these cards printed on a silver foil card. The are bright, but not as much as the silver cold foil decks by Cartamundi. The cards have no dimpling, so the handling is not super great, but not super bad either. Actually, as I look at the cards with my microscopic vision (those of us with extreme near-sighted vision can see incredibly well up close within our 2" field of good vision) I do observe a very slight patterning in the cards, but the slip is not as good as major printers. There is some slight rainbow effect when tilting the cards. Still nice artwork and custom pips. It is definitely a different type of deck.

Thank you for the shout-out Räpylätassu
For UC member I can do a small discount, if you are interested the price will be $85 USD.
These turned out to be more expensive than I expected as I had to pay about $55 USD to get them out of customs!

I think it's easy for me to forget just how expensive customs can be. Living in the states, I simply don't encounter that kind of issue. I think I paid $30, so the fact you are doubling the cost to ship the deck is just bananas.
Stunning. Absolutely stunning deck of cards. The artwork works even better in real life than on the computer screens. And considering that these were printed by an unknown printer with some kind of never seen before foil covering the face side, they slide great! I feared that this deck would be super clumpy but it really isn't, my one handed fans worked just fine. The cards are quite stiff however.
Also I really love the back design on this deck! Nobody really talked about it how well designed it is.
sms69x has those two decks on ebay with a price of 85 USD for UC members... If you missed your shot on getting this one, then yeah, this deck is absolutely worth it.

Unknown printer. Never seen that type of foil used that these have. The cards actually slide pretty well and do not have that clumpy feel to them.
The printing numbers were also most likely really small so it won't be any of the usual printers used.
