As I feared, the MCU is going to shit after Phase 3.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the only project that is remotely interesting for Phase 4, BUT, WandaVision apparently leads directly into the film.

I don't want Disney+ and I don't want to do homework to understand an MCU movie.

Color me stunned that Natalie Portman is not only back in the MCU, but she's going to be lady Thor and apparently she's going to bulk up for the role. I doubt she'll go all the way but it's an intriguing thought, very few truly athletic women get cast as superheroes/villains, Gina Carano in Deadpool being a major exception.

I thought they'd end up giving that to Tessa Thompson. I can't deny she's a good actress but Westworld kind of typecast her for me.

Considering that Thor is a person, and not a mantle, it just doesn't make sense for Portwoman to "bulk up". In the comics, Jane Foster has cancer, and she kinda transforms when she wields Mjolnir.

I simply don't like the idea at all.

Well in the comics, she really isn't super bulked up. She looks like a normal lady dressed in armor and wielding Mjolnir in ways even Thor couldn't. Natalie Portman has the chops to pull it off, hopefully.

THE SNYDER CUT EXISTS

Those that claimed the Snyder Cut "doesn't exist" are redacting their comments en masse of late.

"...In fact, there's an edit of Snyder's version of Justice League that's more than 90% complete of its 214-minute run-time..."

There is mass suspicion that WB's incoming CEO will release the completed Snyder Cut on HBO within the next year or two.

There was a previous trailer that I found much more captivating. Nonetheless, I look forward to seeing what this movie brings to the table.

I'm looking forward to Joker. Phoenix has the chops to pull it off. On another note, finally got to see the Superman 2 Donner Cut. Yup, that was much better than the original.

Also noticed just how slow paced the movies were in the 20th century before fast cuts and edits became the norm. And that was Superman 2, an action comic book movie!

Are our attention spans so short now? So few directors take the time now to allow the cinematograpy and scenes to breathe and amaze us. I think that's what I liked about Bladerunner 2049, Villeneuve really immersed us into the world. On a positive note, my kids enjoyed S2 and didn't find it boring or slow.

I miss Kubrick.

See: The Nolan Bros, Zack Snyder, The Russo Bros, and JJ Abrams. A notable few, who stretch the 'paneling'/cutting to the maximum, for peak visual aesthetic.

Comic book movies are inherently tough to adapt from panel to screen.

Not too surprised as that was the MTV generation. I recall that all these fast cuts or jump cuts was a result of the MTV generation. Not surprised then if those directors grew up being influenced by MTV.

Found it: Wikipedia actually has an article on it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-classical_editing

Note: MTV didn't make it 100% to my part of the world till the 90's. We had some music videos of popular songs played on TV, but that's about it. So I was only fully exposed to it in the 90's when I went to college in US. Yeah, I'm dating myself. :ugeek: :D

Just to clarify; I meant that those directors don't do as many cuts as most others. They pan scenes to show off the cinematography.

I can't blame directors that do the fast/jump cuts, though, because as I mentioned it's inherently difficult to adapt that comic book style to the big screen in most cases.

The Fast and Furious franchise is a habitual offender of scene cutting.

Friday is National Smile Day. So, I'm seeing it then, as opposed to the typical Wednesday/Thursday preview showings.

Joaquin is a brilliant weirdo. I am definitely interested in his portrayal. His role as a petulent Commodus in Gladiator was excellent and Her is one of my favorite movies of his. There's a pretty good article in the Rolling Stone that makes me think Joker will stick with me for a while after:

I'd to give my advanced screeing tickets to a friend last week as I became a dad for the second time & baby Natasha (Endgame influence ;) ) came into our lives on the same day the screening was scheduled :D

I've heard from almost everyone who has watched the movie that Joker is solid in both its craft & storytelling. It is on my wishlist as and when I get time. Now, back to changing diapers.

Zack Snyder met with Worlds of DC and Warner Brothers last weekend. HBO Max following him on social media and 'liking' his content... Speculation that not only will the Justice League Snyder Cut get released on their streaming service in 2020, but a documentary called 'Release the Snyder Cut' will, too.
