Re: Materia Prima Tarot Cards by Uusi
I love Uusi. Love their work. The first uncut I ever bought (and had framed and is mounted on one of my walls) was an Uusi deck. (Royal Optix).
The art from this deck, while obviously very thoughtful and well done, is not for me. As has also been noted, this is neither a deck of playing cards nor a Tarot deck nor, really a meaningful (at least, to me) study guide of the elements. It's a deck of art that, well, doesn't sing to me. I'm glad they are pushing boundaries, and I hope this effort is successful for them. I look forward to their other future projects.

It's an oracle deck (aka meditation deck, non-standard tarot, divination deck) - the whole point is that instead of the regular tarot arcana, etc., an oracle deck can use whatever the creator chooses (like the elements here) The "purpose" is for cartomancy (or "meditation" or "inspiration" depending on your level of woo) but for collectors like me it's purely for the arttheCapraAegagrus wrote:It's not a deck of playing cards, it's not a tarot deck, and it's not a complete collection of study cards for the periodic table of elements. I get that they're advertising it for "meditation", but it's just a fragmented deck of art. It doesn't fit the bill for this medium, IMO.
Oracle decks have been around for at least two hundred years

I'll pick one up down the road when they have 24k gold gilded ones available and my guests had a nice tipping month but not a fan of the silver gilding; even though it nicely contrasts the overall brown/gold-ish colour scheme.

Always a nice pick-up. I hope for a new batch down the road or who knows, maybe the silver is growing on me.
