Re: LONDON DIFFRACTOR - Launching 6th Sept on KS
I am definitely in for this one. Is there any word on the tiers?
Personally, I am not a fan of the clubs pip. I understand why it is what it is, and why it was used. I think its a great historical image on its own, but I dont get the "Spades" feel from it. All the others, you can look at and know what they are right away, except the spades.

Re: LONDON DIFFRACTOR - Launching 6th Sept on KS
Mac, you started talking about one black pip and moved to the other. That said, I agree with you. The clubs pip is fine, but a Tudor rose to signify spades is ... a bit of a stretch.
Price dependent, I'm in.

I agree with Mac as well. In my mind the Tudor rose was the club and the lions were the spade (without a pole). They really are confusing. Why was I thinking a four leaf clover was a club? Need more coffee. I’ll try to save my pennies.

Lion heads == Clubs?
The other thing == Spades?
They really are confusing. Not a fan of the pips.

Re: LONDON DIFFRACTOR - Launching 6th Sept on KS
Better clear this up, before it causes a riot...
Spades = A single Tudor rose inside each one. Reason = Spades are traditionally the suit of royalty. The London deck story (which will become very clear) is all based in the Tudor Dynasty and particularly the king who began it all...Henry Tudor (Henry VII). All will become clear re the artwork & story as we show more.
Clubs = The 3 Lions. Representing England more specifically. The clubs are and always will be our nemesis when designing the transparent holographics for the pips, due to the 3 compartments and the general relative lack of space. But this works perfectly this time...lucky really.
Cheers

Re: LONDON DIFFRACTOR - Launching 6th Sept on KS
Decknowledgy, haha, well the Scots are rarely amused with anything to do with England!
Last thing on the pips for now:
Please just take them as artistic impressions currently....the elements shown still need re-working into the standard pips themselves. This isn't supposed to show 4 custom INK pips...they are merely graphical representations of the HOLO that goes inside the standard ink pips, as we do. Should have said that right off the bat to be honest, but it got some discussions going, so it's all good.
Regards

Re: LONDON DIFFRACTOR - Launching 6th Sept on KS
This is how I interpreted it from the start. As it's just the holographic overlay for each pip, it doesn't have to exactly match the shape of the pips.VXD wrote:Decknowledgy, haha, well the Scots are rarely amused with anything to do with England!

Precisely. I think you just have to know Diffractors a little, to get it.

Re: LONDON DIFFRACTOR - Launching 6th Sept on KS
Ok. So as I understand it: it's the standard spade shape with the rose as the hologram inside that shape. That make sense. I have never seen a diffractor deck before, and was confused. Thank you for clarifying.VXD wrote:Decknowledgy, haha, well the Scots are rarely amused with anything to do with England!

Got it! Thanks for letting us know those holographic shapes by themselves were causing some...minor confusion.

love love love that you're using the London Underground roundel on the tuck - I wouldn't expect any less on a London-themed deck and it's perfect

Re: London Diffractor - Launching 6th Sept on KS
Thanks Pipchick / Romeril
We never want to go too cheesy or obvious in our artwork, but felt somehow the Tube needed a place somewhere in the London Diffractor and it turned out it works perfectly as a way to annotate the tuck editions, in the font they use for the Tube too
We're delaying the launch until 13th Sept (at midnight GMT - ie midnight, between 13th and 14th that is).

a separate question... will there be more series after the original Vegas and now this London release in the future? If so, I'm going to plan to get one of each color

Yes of course.
We will be creating and launching one Diffractor per year, in our World City Series.
2018 - Las Vegas
2019 - London
2020 - Monte Carlo (epic surprise to be announced for this one, probably following the end of the London campaign )
2021 - Macau
2022 - New York
2023 - Paris
2024 - Singapore or Melbourne
The rest of the cities order is not fixed yet, but we will only produce 10 cities total.
The 'Vertex Deck' does not count within the series - it was basically a prelude to the official Las Vegas Diffractor.
That's the plan.
Btw - noticed a couple of small errors on the card backs currently, but we have a few days to polish things. Also the writing on the joker can be taken with a pinch of salt and will probably be changed a little still as well.
