Fox Playing Cards
Didn’t see this posted. Ekaterina has released her first custom deck. Nice box but fairly standard faces, USPC printed.

Re: Fox Playing Cards
I quite like the tuck, probably because I love foxes, but everything else is a pass for me, maybe I should get into cardistry one day so I have a reason to buy decks like this lol.

Re: Fox Playing Cards
Kind of strange to put in a deck from another publisher/brand in your brick boxes... aaaand kind of a nasty bait to put the launch edition Virts into the promo pick, but then disclaiming that not all virts are launch editions.
Call me an utopian romantic, but I would wish, that no matter if you are an illustrator, magician, cardist or whatever, sell me your cards with the design on them, not with shitty marketing tricks. The deck itself is heavily underwhelming for $15.

Re: Fox Playing Cards
I want to like these because I like her channel but I'm just not sure. I don't doubt she spent, and is trying to recoup, 20K for production but I also wonder who is helping advise her. I've spend about $5000 and managed custom courts. Granted, I didn't pre-print with USPCC and did most of the art myself, but still. Even a re-color would help a lot with standard courts.
I don't mind the marketing gimmicks much either and understand where she's coming from but it seems like it could be executed better.
Does she post around the forums? Maybe we can get her to hang with us.

Re: Fox Playing Cards
Omar just did a review of these on the TGW YouTube channel. It is a 5 minute spotlight with Ekaterina demonstrating some cardistry with the deck.
To be honest, this is one of the more underwhelming decks Omar has reviewed. I imagine the purpose of the spotlight was the collaboration but I think this deck falls short of getting the TGW treatment. There have been too many awesome, custom decks he has reviewed in the past. This one has a nice tuck, but the cards are simply standard. That's just me though. As always, a very solid spotlight.

...The inside of the tuck includes a black matte interior stock which is a nice departure from the standard white
Somehow, I'm still not impressed by this deck, nor the typical YouTuber cross promo.

Re: Fox Playing Cards
I like Ekatarine and I wish her all the best and mucho success.
This particular deck does not do it for me, but I'm also not her target demographic with this deck, so no worries there.
I like Omar and all the awesome he contributes to this community. I don't begrudge him the cross-promotion with Ekaterine.
But, for crying out loud, that is not crimson! Crimson is what printers would call a bright, cool red. In the printing world, "Cool" means that you start with a red ink and add a few drops of blue.
No, the shade of red being used here is what people in the printing business would call "warm red," at least on my monitor.
But, it is not crimson!
(Still love ya to pieces, Omar!)
