Hello, I'm a nonsense writer and illustrator and have recently opened my kickstarter campaign for a deck of art playing cards (July 2019). I'm new to the forum but was wondering how one submits a deck to be considered in the DOTY Awards? Or is it simply a case of if enough people notice the deck? (Also - whilst I think the debate on categories is wonderful, I would add that I think the category of 'best pip' is a good and valid one. For art decks (as mine) every card has a unique design making the deck what it is.

Welcome to the forum, Jack! I am so glad Decknowledgy shared your project - very creative deck! Mods can chime in, but there is no need to submit anything. The votes are based completely on what other users feel is the best fit for each category. Exposure is definitely helpful and it helps to make sure your backers receive the deck before voting opens. We love to see pictures!
As for categories, you will have to message a Mod :)

Thank you BaconWise, a very helpful response. Hopefully the campaign will be funded and gorgeous decks in your hands before the voting opens. Do you know when the DOTY Awards 2019 will open? (I assume similar to 2018 it will be from Jan-Feb 2020?)

2019 was my first year collecting and diving into the playing card world and I gotta say, I am blown away at how welcoming and friendly everyone has been. I received countless tips, hints, friendly discussions, and help as well as a big number of decks sent to me for free just to help me start my collection and as a friendly gift. I would love to shout out to those people but I only know their IG handles and am not sure how to do that on here so if someone could help me do that I would love to give credit to some of my closest playing card friends. This community is a home for so many of us and gives us so much joy and socialization in a world filled with negative interactions on the Internet and for that I am forever grateful to this wonderful hobby and community. Furthermore, this will be my first year voting for the DOTYs of course and I can't wait to get started. The process of setting all of this up and administrating the DOTYs seems so complicated and time consuming so I'm sure we are all extremely grateful to have such a devoted and talented team of mods, admins, and members to put this together for us. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart and happy voting everyone.
