Hey everyone!,
If you haven't been up to date with the latest decks being launched on Kickstarter, recently MPC launched a new cardistry deck called the Beta One. This deck was made using their new cardistry card stock and Beta finish/varnish that has been 3 years in development. Having recently sampled this card stock myself I have been so impressed with how it performs that I have been overwhelmed with excitement while waiting for the opportunity to be able to produce my own decks using this new card stock.
The best part is that their new card stock has just become available for me to use for producing my own range of decks, and since I am a huge supporter of MPC and about to produce a new deck through them, I would really like as many people as possible to be able to sample their new card stock, which is why I am willing to offer my new decks to anyone for wants one for just $1 so they can sample this amazing new card stock for themselves!.
Just head over to my online store and select my new deck that is on sale for just $1 to have one sent to you .
Again, these new decks are being maunfactured using MPC's new next generation in card stock that is absolutely amazing and really you must try it!.
My new Premier Edition Decks are being listed at just $1 + Shipping for a limited time and if you would like more than one deck you can add as many additional decks as you like!.....the first deck will cost you just $1 however each additional deck you add to your cart will add $7USD/$10 AUD to your order total. This offer is available until all 250 decks being offered from my online store are claimed. (all remaining decks from this limited edition print run will return to their full price of $23 per deck after this offer ends).
Purchase the new decks for just $1 here https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/7054900 ... black-deck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
See Images of decks I am producing below that are from a recently completed Kickstarter project that are now to be produced using MPC's next generation in card stock!
One thing to note is that although I will be using the same card stock as MPC's new Beta One Deck, I will be using a slightly different card finish to the MPC Beta One Decks, as for my production purposes I wanted my cards to be less glossy and sticky compared to The Beta One while still providing the optimised card handling and performance of MPC's new card stock that is absolutely perfect for cardistry and card magic. The reason I opted for a different card finish on the new card stock was due to the style of my deck and wanting the cards to maintain a Matte looking finish whie still providing the optimised card qualities for cardistry and card magic.
MPC's new card stock is called Linen Air lite and is now available for everyone to produce their own decks with.
There is a minumum print run required of 1000 decks and you also have the option to choose between several card finishes, including their Beta One card Finish that was applied to their Beta One decks.
If you haven't sampled MPC's new Beta One Decks you can pick one up from MPC to sample their new card stock with their Beta One finish appled and you can also pick up one of my new decks for just $1 to sample MPC's new card stock with thier alternate card finish optio that I will be having applied to my decks for you to sample as well
I Hope you all enjoy the next generation in card stock and card finishes being provided to you by MPC

This is great info! I updated the thread title to reflect the main deck that's on sale. After shipping it's around $9USD which is a great price IMO!

Um, wait a minute...so this is the same deck that was being offered in your Kickstarter for A$23? So, before fullfillment commences for those who funded this deck, you're offering anyone else the same thing for a buck? What am I missing here?

Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1!
Hi aardvvarkgod,
This deck has been successfully funded and all backers for these decks are being well rewarded for their participation and support of these decks and the Kickstarter campaign, with many additional bonuses being awarded to them such as bonus decks, free membership cards giving them up to 75% off all decks in store during exclusive sales, access to exclusive decks for the collection, free 12 month membership to my Patreon page that rewards supporters with up to 4 bonus decks every time they back one of my Kickstarter projects, also bonus decks awarded to Kickstarter backers who place an order from my online store, all this and more, and this is on top of also recieving this same $1 deck offer.
The $1 deck offer has been made available to everyone as I would like to practically give away the remaining decks from the 1900 print run to give everyone the opportunity to try these decks for themselves and to accomodate for people who have little money to afford to own premium quality decks playing cards.
With all my Kickstarters project I try to give back as much as I can whenever I can, to both my Kickstarter supporters and my Patreon Supporters as well as to as many other people as I can. I also offer to donate decks to card clubs as well as give decks way to kids who are poor for them to be able to have the opportunity to learn cardistry and card magic. I also provide free membership to my magic tutorial website for kids to learn card magic and have also sent them free magic supplies. This is all thanks to the ongoing generous support of my backers for my Kickstarter projects and for that I am very grateful and appreciative of for all their support and always giving out extra bonus rewards and more to thank them for their contributions toward each of my projects.
I don't see Kickstarter as a store but rather a crowdfunding platform where projects come to life through the generous support of others..... and when a backer is pledging $23 to my project they are not simply paying for a deck of cards but rather they are making a contribution to support my project and in return they are being rewarded for their supporting contribution by receiving at the least, a deck of cards, as well as other bonuses and perks that I always offer to my backers on top of their pledge that I do not always mention in the reward tiers or kickstarter page but rather surprise them along the way with these extra bonuses depending on how well a project gets funded. I also reward backers long after a project is complete by surprising them with bonus decks in their orders when they place and order from my online store etc as well as on occasion sending other bonus surprise items such as crystal display cases and display stands for their decks etc depending on how well my sales are going.
In reading this, I hope that you can now see Kickstarter/Crowdfunding from the same perspective as I do and that you can be rest assured that all backers who help fund my projects are being well rewarded behind the scenes long after a Kickstarter has been successfully funded.

I understand where you're coming from, but that's not the right way to view this.CLCPC Studio 52 wrote:Hi aardvvarkgod,

KS IS about crowdfunding to fund an idea, not a purchase store, and as such you are entirely dependant on the goodwill of backers to give you money for something they won't get for months. Doing this trick effectively removes all that goodwill; if I were in the position of a backer and saw this, I would be emailing you for a refund and purchasing the $1 deck because it would feel like you were taking advantage of my pledge. Giving them additional befits only if they spend more money with you in potential future campaigns is not a tangible benefit; it is a a customer retention trick that won't work if they are angry with you.
The only way you as a creator can offer decks at a lower price post-KS without a special limited time discount is if you offer free shipping during the campaign such that the total pledge is still less than the after market cost. If you can't raise sufficient funds during a KS campaign without increasing the price and increasing your order quantity to get a suitable cost per deck, it is an indication that your deck or marketing are not good enough.
I don't think that any of your backers who sees this offer will back you again, sorry.

Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1!
Okay - you may mean well but what you are saying makes no sense at all. What it boils down to is that your KS backers, the people who are taking risks investing in something that may not see the light of day, are subsidising (actually, at 1 dollar a deck, it is not even a subsidy) your marketing efforts of handing out freebies. And I agree with Fud in that your backer benefits are nothing but retainer tools and misguided ones at that. I have backed a couple of your projects but am not even going to look in your direction going forward. Absolutely appalling.

I actually did back your campaign and considered pulling out numerous time. It was the most confusing and convoluted campaign I've ever seen on KS. To make matters worse, the updates and some of your posts here just confuse the issue more. Now you want to run a subscription service via Patreon and discount decks to almost nothing? You need to be a well-established creator to pull off some of the things you're promising, and I just don't see it from you. I will not be backing any of your future campaigns.

I feel like a creator can do what he wants with their surplus decks. I get the backer concerns, but it isn’t like he is selling tons for a buck. I missed out, and I am sure I am not the only one.

Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1!
I completely understand the desire to offer bonuses and KS exclusive goodies to backers. However, this offer does not sit well with me. If you strip away the bonuses and goodies, is a KS backer paying more to get a single deck? If the answer is yes, then something is off. It may work for this campaign, but you might find it difficult to get KS funding for your next deck if your backers don't care as much about the freebies as they do about getting a good deal on the ground floor.

Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1!
For the TL;DR summary. He got ambitious and made mistakes. He's trying to correct his mistakes. As a backer, I see his sincerity in this (compared some other more serious cases) and am willing to give him a 2nd chance.
For a more detailed version:
As a backer of this project, the most definite thing he needs to work on is communication. It was lengthy and confusing. EDIT: It happens to many KS projects where the person gets too ambitious.
However I would say that when he does make mistakes, he tries his best to come up with a solution. IMHO, the worst mistake was in an update where he announced the switch to MPC and cancelling the Gold gilded mini decks. The backers of the gold mini decks would get the Black decks as replacement.
I PM him about this and what he should have done instead. He quickly put out another update and was very transparent on the cancellation of the gold mini decks which was due to dropped pledges.
He promised alot more as compensation for those backers, which in my opinion, shows his sincerity in correcting his errors if he carries them out as promised. As for the $1 decks, he has since opened it up to every backer and given all of us free shipping for the decks. It's more expensive at AUD12 for a pair, but with free shipping and 1 free bonus deck. I looked at the initial AUD1 offer, but shipping was basically as expensive as 1 deck by itself. So I actually prefer the new offer with free shipping since it costs a bomb to ship out from Down Under. I get 3 decks for the price of 1 with no extra shipping costs.
I don't see any complaints so far on the comments about this; except on UC, so I believe most are ok with this new arrangement. Most comments are on how the free shipping link doesn't work and he created a new link very quickly.

Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1!
Brad - I do not think I would agree with you here. One of the basic premises of KS is that backers would take the risk of the goods never being produced but the quid pro quo is that they will get their orders cheaper than in the post-production market. Here, it is the opposite - backers’ money are being used to subsidise sales to non-backers and it is this that I have a problem with.Bradius wrote:I feel like a creator can do what he wants with their surplus decks. Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1! (wap)
Respectfully disagree, mostly. Yes, a creator can do whatever they want with their surplus decks, but how about actually fulfilling the pledges that funded those decks in the first place. He should have had enough sense to deliver the KS product first and then attempt to offload these decks. To run this sale concurrently with the KS campaign is bad form no matter how you slice it.Bradius wrote:I feel like a creator can do what he wants with their surplus decks. Re: Premier Edition Black Deck printed by MPC for $1!
To elaborate more on Premier Edition Decks being offered at reduced pricing, the Kickstarter for these included 7 different decks in total, with a mojority of backers pledging to include at least 2 or more different decks for the collection, none of which are being offered at this same reduced pricing.....it is just the premier edition decks being offered. Yes the general public are being offered these decks at a low price that works out to be $6 per deck after checkout, but so are backers who also have the option to purchase the decks for $6 each plus they are also receiving bonus decks in their order for being a Kickstarter supporter to make up the difference from their initial pledges since I decided to offer the remaining decks at a discount so they still get a better deal. Backers will also be receiving more ongoing discounts for all decks released for the collection plus they will be receiving Gold Membership cards in the mail that give them up to 75% off all decks for the collection as well as exclusive access to other decks for the collection and all of the other bonuses I mentioned in my previous comments.
To further explain, I have a number of decks that will be remaining from the print run for these decks that I do not wish to capitalise on through long term sales at full price as simply want them to be getting use in the hands of people to use for several reasons and to recoup funding losses, so I initially gave all backers exclusive first priority to purchase these decks at a greatly reduced discount from my online store for a period of 2 weeks as well supplying them with a 50% off Discount voucher plus free shipping, so each Premier Editon deck as well as the Private Reserve Decks were costing Kickstarter Backers just $6 AUD each, plus I have been including bonus decks to Kickstarter Backers orders to make up for their initial Kickstarter pledges for the Premier Edition Decks at their full price as well as other bonuses to make sure they are getting a better deal overall.
One other thing I'd like to point out is that there was no change to the Manufacturer for these decks at all, as is being stated in previous commnets, and from the beginning of the KS launch, MPC was listed on the campaign page as the manufacturer for these decks and the only change being made to the project was an upgrade to the card stock being used for the decks so they will have improved performance and handling for cardistry and card magic which I do not see any negative side to. As for coments on the mini decks, backers will still be receiving these at a later date at no extra cost to them and they have also been compensated in the meantime by receiving 4 decks per 1 mini deck they added to their rewards...... so if you look at the end result from all of this, all backers are receiving discounted decks that now have improved quality card stock plus they are receiving bonus decks to their pledge rewards to make up for the difference in their initial pledges at full price plus backers who pledged for the mini decks will still be receiving them at no extra cost at a later date and being compensated with 4 decks per 1 deck mini being delayed with delivery .....by the way the mini decks were inititally offered simply as a free bonus to backers just prior to the Kickstarter being completed as funding was going well at the time so I wanted to give away my excess funding to backers...... I offered the mini gold gilded decks as a free bonus to backers (1 free mini deck each) and then backers could add on more mini decks to their pledge if they wanted more than the 1 free deck....the same mini decks they were to receive prior to the short fall in funding for them due to dropped pledges/unsuccesful payment processing after the Kickstarter was completed....and by the way the majority of dropped pledges were from backers who had pledged to recieve extra mini gilded deck, so the possible removal of the mini decks from this Kickstarters fulfillment is mainly affecting people who were to be receiving one for free, as well as a small few who pledged for extra mini decks. All of these backers are now being well compensated for the resulting delay in the mini decks production due to the shortfall in funding and will recieve them as soon as funds become avialble, either by generating additional sales through offering decks at discounts in store or thoough sales of other decks.....and again to clarify that the backer swho were to recieve one for free as a bonus backer reards are now receiving 2 premier edition decks as a bonus backer reward.....and the very small number of backers who pledged to add on extra mini decks, they are receiving 4 premier edition decks as rewards to go with their current backer rewards in replacement for the mini decks which will be manufactured and sent to them as soon as funds become available.
I hope this helps to clarify things and with knowing more about what is going on behind the scenes I hope you can see that for a number of reasons and the resulting shortdall in funding from payments not processing after Kickstarter I am just taking the neccessary steps help to recoup costs and generate the nessessary additional sales of decks for the benefit of the project and it's supporters by upgrading card stocks for the decks, giving out bonus decks to them and store discount to them etc..... I have just been trying to look at the bigger picture for the project, and if you look at it in a holistic point of view and that the discounted decks were put in place for the benefit for everyone, to generate extra sales to recoup funds for the mini decks production, to get the decks in the hands of more people to try the next generation card stock that the decks now offer witht the upgrade, as well as providing a means of being able to give away additional bonus decks to backers to make up the differenece for their initial pledges for the decks at full price so they better overall deal on the decks.
There were two outcomes,
1 - is everything I have mentioned earlier to assist with the succes of the project
OR
2 - If I were to just sit back and not try every means to assist with a projects overall success, the result would have been the Kickstarter would be left with a shortfall in funding resulting in excessively high production costs for a very small number of mini gold gilded decks going to backers as add ons as well as being given away as free bonuses to backers for their support putting further strain on remaining funding for the project, card stock would not have been upgraded, the excessively high prodution cost for the mini decks would have also strained being able to afford the production cost for print runs for several othe other decks in the Campaign, and the final result would have been less rewarding for everyone.
I chose option 1, and by simply holding off on the Mini decks production since their prodcution was excessively high, this enabled funding to be used to recoup funding from dropped pledges, upgrade card stocks for the benefit of all backers and the decks, and to dothis I also had to offer decks at reduced prices to help generate additional funds to help cover project costs and deck upgrades as well as being able to give bonuses to backers to so they get an overall better deal while the sale is on......and again, without the sale and posponing of mini decks their would have still been a shortfall in funding, card stock would not have been upgraded etc etc so I had to make a decision on the best option to go with for the benefit of the project and I chose option 1 and hope that after all of my clarification you would also have chosen the same as well if you were in my position, and I hope you can understand my approach toward ensuring the project is as successful as possible with the goal of making sure backers get the highest quality decks that I can offer with the funding that is availableto me, and to ensure they are also well rewarded for their early contributions for support of the project by adding bonus decks to their backer rewards as a thankyou and to make sure they are getting a better overall deal for their participation in supporting the project.
Thanks everyone hopefully for you understanding, and I hope you might choose to support my descision making process and why I had to take the nessessary steps for ensuring the overall success of project moving forward,
Kindest Regards,
Craig

Well, I also received my decks. I originally pledged for 2 black + 2 white but ended up with 12 black + 2 white. I asked for gilding, but I don't think I got it. I'm still so confused by the campaign and all the follow-up updates and posts here on UC. Despite getting extra free decks, I still feel uneasy about this whole experience.
