Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
New to this thread, just discovered and had a great time scrolling through. I really enjoy the process, and seeing these dramatic images. Please continue to make this a reality.

Very beautiful paintings. Can't wait to see the final product, even if it may take a while. Nice to see somebody working non-digital on a card design.

A question (really for anyone): I know nothing about the nuts and bolts of actually printing cards. Is there a good source for reading up on that?chicken_ql wrote:Jeez these are awesome. You should totally print with foil from cartamundi if you make these

The Spades. Note: I may make some changes ... in particular, I may wish to replace the 10, as it is somewhat similar to the king.
The theme of the Spades is "Monsters" (the theme of the Diamonds was "Mewmen"; the theme of the Hearts is "Earth" and the theme of the Clubs is "the Multiverse")

Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
I suggest you watch some youtube videos about the different stocks/finishes/printing companies. Maybe read some posts in the general playing card section about people's opinions on printers.Malthus1 wrote:A question (really for anyone): I know nothing about the nuts and bolts of actually printing cards. Also, i'm sure you can ask someone from Cartamundi or USPCC to help you out.

Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
Cartamundi has an awesome customer service, they are fast and very helpful. USPC in my personal experience is s**t with replying. Takes them days to answer and all you get are platitude answers. Really anoying. I prefer USPC as a printer though.chicken_ql wrote:Also, i'm sure you can ask someone from Cartamundi or USPCC to help you out.

Which show? Be sure to check copyright issues.Malthus1 wrote:Another just finished: Queen of Clubs.
Probably won't make any sense to anyone who isn't familiar with the show, though.

Definitely. I'll be writing for licensing information - someone upthread kindly provided a link.shiroo56 wrote:Which show? Be sure to check copyright issues.Malthus1 wrote:Another just finished: Queen of Clubs.

The show is "Star vs. the Forces of Evil", and this started as a fan-art project. The characters are all copyrighted by the owners of the show.

Nice deck, have an offer, would you be interested if I made 100 copies of this deck and sold them at price, so $7USD each?

Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
Why do you ask? Are you the creator or have you purchased the rights to this material?
Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
No, just a fan, essentially it would be a $0 profit deck, technically it would be loss making due to proofing and time spent cleaning everything up for printing. I know the creator malthus has been concerned about being sued if he were to create it.

Well, let’s see what malthus has to say about it - perhaps it can happen…

Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
It's kind of an interesting situation. Malthus made a deck for series he didn't have a license for. This fellow wants to make the deck so that others can get it, without a license from either the series or Malthus. Personally, I think there's no reason he shouldn't since Malthus didn't have a license to do it anyway.

Re: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Deck
I am unaware of the intricacies - pretty foggy on the bold strokes as well…
The work put in on the deck by Malthus to create it is still his - even if he can’t use it - so his word is still needed nearest I can tell.
Otherwise you just have two parties that have been infringed upon by a third.
If Malthus is ok with it, and someone wants to print some, I am buying - but thats not going to protect either of them from whatever infringement made Malthus not print himself….
If malthus not ok with it and someone just grabs and prints it, can’t see myself buying - but it would protect malthus
