Carte Rouge - A game with all your cards in play.

Hello all! I'm relatively new here, and excited to share what I've been working on.

Carte Rouge is an entire historical fiction narrative, told in secrets, codes, and ciphers deviously disguised within an otherwise ordinary seeming set of playing cards. This deck has been many months in the making, and will be launching on Kickstarter later this summer.

With that launch fast approaching, I'm really sinking my teeth into the nitty gritty of various detail work to try and get everything up to my own standards. I'll happily take input on any and all aspects of how the art looks at this point in time, better to garner feedback now than later so I can integrate changes as I go.

I'd remove the border on the pips and color the Q's as red or black.

The codes while needed make the cards look too busy for me.

If you want the cards to be used in gameplay, there're some things you should maybe think about again. For some folks readability is a bit of a problem. It is not good that the red pips are bordered black and vice versa. The colour scheme of the court cards is a confusing, too. Normally the black suits have a matching colour palette and the red suits aswell. In your draft the diamonds and spades match, and hearts and clubs match.

Another thing would be the indeces, they are all black, which is a feature that I personally don't mind and in the case of Ellusionist Rockets even like. But some folks don't like that aswell.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! They're definitely still a work in progress, I do want more consistency to the color palette, so I'm glad to know I'm not alone in that thought.

I've gotten nice feedback from some folks about the pips with the contrasting stroke, but also have concern about readability. Would having them outlined in the metallic color of their suit help sufficiently with confusion/readability aspect while retaining that style?
