Re: UC2018 Decks "DeNovo" by Rick Davidson
I know Jackson is a beast, but he has a huge project just managing the Subscriptions and all the other Campaigns he does. Plus, he has is move upcoming. If he takes on the 2019 UC deck, I am afraid we will find him slumped unmoving at his desk. Sometimes it is okay to say no. Not that I would say no to a Jackson designed UC deck. Yeah, I'd back that too. Bansky would be cool too.
Just, don't contact Michele Hartsoe please. Then again, she could bring new meaning to the definition of a "stripper" deck.

When you receive it, the tuck opens itself and dispenses a shredded deck of cards for your enjoyment.

I've received the decks in Portugal.
Great decks as expected.
I'd really like to see a blue version and perhaps gold and silver gilded versions.
I like gilded decks (yes, I know, there's a new topic for that discussion)

I got my server from storage (after a relocation) and have already started working on this project. I have a plan and will launch this deck in July on KS with or without UC branding.hsbc wrote: So who's it going to be? Re: UC2018 Decks "DeNovo" by Rick Davidson
I'd a back design in UC colours for A Motley Pack deck, and would have used it for mini deck for sure. I ddn't open up my cards then, and if the mini deck would have been a reality, a number of people would have recieved a mini deck with a back design inspired by UC colors
And, it would have been a free full transformation mini deck. The project could never hit that goal.

I will try such a thing again for the next Mythologies project.

If we want to get it done and delivered in 2019, then Montenzi is the one who could possibly get it done within that time frame..montenzi wrote:I got my server from storage (after a relocation) and have already started working on this project. I have no doubt that if Jackson is willing to commit to a 2019 UC deck, that he can get it done on time. I like and respect both artists/producers a whole lot. I’ll let Mike make the call and back whichever great option he chooses.
While it took awhile to arrive, De Novo is one of my favorite decks. Thanks David, Lotrek and Mike on a top quality product that did not skimp on quality no matter how long it took to get right. No burlap bags here!

There is no doubt Jackson was willing to do the 2019 deck so let's give some credit where credit is due, but Montenzi also volunteered and was quicker and more responsive in ironing out the details so we're going with him. I'll be continuing to communicate with Jackson so that hopefully he can do a UC Annual deck as well in the future. But we're definitely going to have a 2019 deck, thanks to Montenzi.Bradius wrote:I have no doubt that if Jackson is willing to commit to a 2019 UC deck, that he can get it done on time. Re: UC2018 Decks "DeNovo" by Rick Davidson
Getting back to the De Novo decks. About three weeks ago, I was browsing through the Originals website and realised that the De Novo decks are being offered there. I have placed an order and got the confirmation. Fast forward to now and I am still waiting for the dispatch notice. I have tried reaching out to Rick through the contact form on the website but am getting an error message. Does anyone know an alternative way of reaching out and checking the whereabouts of my order? Many thanks.

Re: UC2018 Decks
Yes you should be able to get a fairly prompt response from him by emailing rick at rickdavidson.com I also ordered the decks from the origins website. I think it took about two weeks for me to get them. The shipping notice came from gamblers warehouse but did not specify that it was the DeNovo decks or even that they were coming from origins. Just that a package had been dispatched.Magic Tapp wrote:Does anyone know an alternative way of reaching out and checking the whereabouts of my order? Many thanks.

Rick - thanks very much for reaching out.
If the decks are shipped by GW, it may well be the case that they are already on their way (as I have a few GW shipping notices) but, unfortunately, there is no way for me to check what is it being shipped.

You know the reality is SUBs is a vanity number. The important thing is views. So if you're watching the videos... then no worries. Where being a sub helps is notifications. Re: UC2018 Decks "DeNovo" by Rick Davidson
A nice video TGW.
Thanks for the spotlight on this deck of cards. I do agree that Rick's artwork is amazing here. As for the actual printing, I do think that the inks used were especially noteworthy. The color saturation was great and better than I have seen elsewhere. While the handling is much improved, it isn't yet close to the big manufacturers. I think it was Vasta that mentioned the dimpling was not as deep as it probably should have been, and I agree with that assessment. There have been great strides forward though, and in a way, the unique deck producer fits the DeNovo theme.
I was a bit shocked at the after market prices being put on eBay for the limited sets. It should be noted that they went for about $110 for the pair anyway during Kickstarter (Converted from 162 NZD). In addition to the custom laser etched acrylic piece and the custom laser cut tuck case, they also came with custom laser etched carat cases. I think we were limited to one each, or at least I only have one set myself.

I would love to take credit for this but that would mean that I would have had to open my DeNovo decks. Which I most certainly did not heheBradius wrote:I think it was Vasta that mentioned the dimpling was not as deep as it probably should have been, and I agree with that assessment.

above is just an except but the entire post is a really spectacular write-up and def worth the read for anyone that hasn't already - if I could, I'd thank sinjin a second time for it lolsinjin7 wrote:One possible reason may be the chemical composition of the varnish/lacquer in the coating, but the obvious reason, for me, is in the depth of the calandering, or the dimpling. I know Lotrek disagrees with me based on some of the conversations we've had, but I feel the primary reason for the shortcoming of the finish is because the dimpling is way too shallow. The cards almost look and feel like they have a smooth finish. You have to have a deeper, more pronounced dimpling to break up the co-efficient of friction so the cards have better slip. My suspicion for Lotrek's aversion to dimpling is because he may feel that may interfere with the aesthetics of the artwork in some way, but whatever the case may be, he didn't calendar the dimples deeply enough to obtain a better slip on his finish.

Somebody nominated the jokers of this deck for Best Jokers for this year's DOTYs but there're no pictures. Can someone provide pictures of them? Either here or send them to Mama Bear (PipChick), that she can add them in the nominations thread.

There are 56 cards in DeNovo decks, 52 standard plus 2 Jokers, a double backer and a blank 'face' side, and I have one deck open as my play deck right now.
