Thanks - would that other deck be the Glide one that you shared with us a while back?

Maybe I'll launch GLIDE first    as I need new ideas for this project. Kings are 90% ready, no Queens, two Jacks. Slow... :ugthink:

It is much easier for me to finish the Glide deck now. And it will be better for this projects.

70% to finish Glide vs 30% to finish this project now.

This is going to be your best deck so far for sure. I really like what I see!

I do like both the Glide and Lino decks. If you feel that you need more time to work on Lino, do launch the Glide one - I will be supporting both.

Montenzi is not a well-known playing card designer, but can’t figure out why not. His Neo Wave Ultra is the standard by which I judge cold foil designs, and nothing yet compares to it. It is simply stunning. If you don’t have the set, I think adams_osu has a set for sale. Also, Lycantius also has one listed for sale. Still, I really like the color graduation done on NEO Ultra and would like to see it used on future cold foil applications.

Please note - the design posted above is in progress. I have more but I will only post updated mockups when the style is finished or when all cards are ready.

UC2019 Annual Deck by Montenzi

Unread post by vasta41 »

I started this thread since the '18 thread started picking up steam in regards to the 2019 deck. And to motivate Montenzi to post 2398472384743987 court renders! So let's get to it. Big thanks to Montenzi for stepping up!! Let's hope this can get done before 2020..

I'll update the title and OP as needed.

Excited for this. This will be the first UC annual deck launch I’ll get to back during the actual KS campaign. I'm in the process of gathering the previous decks and have several of them already. Thanks Montenzi!

Thanks, Paul - for getting this public topic started. Mods should be able to adjust the first post as necessary to add the kick tracker, etc, but I can take ownership if required - should not be.

Just bare bones, subject to modification: we plan on a 30 day KS campaign, likely starting on the first Saturday in July. That is the 6th, I think - I'll check.

Cartamundi printed precisely on the updated / upgraded B9 Cardistry stock, likely to be foiled on the faces if not both sides. One thing that I really like is their ability to gild small quantities of decks. We had their French division (formerly BP Grimaud) hand gild 300 of the Dondorf Hundertjahrkarte project decks. They have a long history of doing exotic gilded decks, like the Hermès sets from the 1950's.

I don't have specifics on exactly what the newest B9 stock changes are, but I will ask Jirs about it. We will be amongst the very first to use it, since it is only available starting in July, as I recall.

I'll post two of the preliminary pix Alex sent, and remember we are here to help and offer suggestions, but he is in charge of the artwork and development. I forsee a pair of brick red and UC Green decks possibly with an ultra limited Signature Edition, gilded perhaps?

Thanks, Mike! I wonder, are the empty faces a draft or a feature? I like the faces on the red deck A LOT. Either way, the fact that this has a potential to be designed and printed this year is awesome and proves that Montenzi must be sleep deprived.

Re: UC2019 Annual Deck by Montenzi

If I remember correctly, Montenzi presented the blank faces as just one of the drafts for potential court options. I want to thank Montenzi for his willingness to scramble with us in getting out the 2019 deck. We were facing the real possibility of not having a 2019 deck and having a break in the continuity of the Annual Deck series, which would've put the credibility and viability of the series as a whole in jeopardy.

Mike and the mods are taking steps to insure that we won't be scrambling like this again with future decks by lining up artists well ahead of time for the upcoming years. Based on preliminary discussions as well as actual commitments, we're going to have a very impressive list of artists lined up for 2020 -2024, so it looks like the Annual UC Deck series is in good hands and will continue to flourish.

I want to thank all those involved in keeping the faith and getting the 2019 deck out. Again, a big thanks to Montenzi, I am blown away that he was willing to use this concept for our Annual UC deck, a very worthy addition to the lineage.

That is my recollection, also. The conceptual art is exactly that: prospective.

I have artists confirmed for next year (preliminary, but I am truly honored to be hopeful that Lorenzo will be the artist) and 2022,-Randy Butterfield, so the 8th and 10th annual sets are hopefully solid.

I have been trying to convince Alexander Chin to be the 9th artist, but nothing beyond us talking - yet. Anyone who wants to and can, please give us an assist.

Now, Jackson - of course - would be a coup! We can rearrange things to make that happen, as I noted maybe moving Lorenzo out one year? I am certain that would not hurt his feelings! Beyond 2022 / 10th Annual? We have to see. Steve Minty, Black Ink / Jody, Chris Chelko (Whispering Imps) - all of these would be excellent future candidates and I don't intend to limit the scope, but all have been talked about.

As I so love to say "Your mileage WILL vary". Great potential for the future!

Thank you TEAM UC!!! :geek: Thank you for your support, much appreciated! :D

I will definitely produce my best deck for UC2019.

This back design was printed in the first prototype deck in 2016! It's two years of making already  Just kidding.

I have a plan and will work on this deck exclusively in May/June.

Some semi-final (and official) art will be available this week.

:ucstar: I have one important request to moderators: Please merge both topics with my original thread viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12121
It is essential for me to control the first post of the thread! Also, it makes sense. Thank you in advance! :ucstar:

Wow, looks pretty nice. I like the back design + colour choice and the court card style is dope, too.
