Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
KS preview link below. I get knots in my stomach putting this out to you guys but everyone is always friendly and honest. I still need to put actual photos in the header and body, but please tell me what you think. Design? Text? Tiers? Pricing? Will probably launch in a month or so. EVERYTHING is subject to change, including pricing. I don't have the following for a high funding goal and USPCC printing out of the gate so I set a lower funding goal with a stretch to USPCC hoping to build up to it.
Thanks again, Jason

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
I like the constitution deck but not the regular one. I don't think shuffled ink fits well with alot of collectors here.
Also, I really like the tuck case and I don't know why but I also like the little pink lines and was wondering if it would be possible to add some red into the tuck case.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
As for the printer, if anyone has another suggestion please let me know. I don't care for the quality of MPC and have had a very good experience with the prototypes from Shuffled Ink. The card quality is surprisingly good.
I'll look at adding some color.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
I am a picky collector, so I don't usually back standard court cards as a rule, but there are many collectors out there who don't mind standard courts. One of the major issues I have with your deck is the font selection. While it is an elegant font, it seems very dated so I think a better choice could be made there. The pips would look fine if the font was changed as well. Also, your aces are tidy but very basic.
If you consider a recent re-launch of "Equality & Justice" you will see they went through the effort of customizing and elevating a lot of aspects of their deck design. While different decks, I think the comparison is unavoidable, considering the theme. If you place your campaign side-to-side with the E&J campaign, I think it will be obvious that more detail went into E&J in terms of customization and they have the same funding goal and essentially the same pricing. Not to mention, Passione has been around the block with a few successful campaigns over the last couple of years.
Your tuck case and card backs were definitely the best aspects of your design. It seems like you have a great foundation but I think more effort will need to go into the items mentioned above to snag some of the more discerning collectors and to stand out from the competition. I hope this helps. Cheers and best of luck!

It does help, thank you, And gives me a lot to think about. I’ll take a hard look at E&J.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
I know you're probably eager to launch but remember you can take your time to really nail it
The font in the corners should really be switched back to something standard, the font you're using now honestly does not look good. The tuck is strong, especially the front, but it's monotone... as are the backs. Are you starting off with both red and blue backs? I'd begin with just one, certainly if it means USPCC is easier to achieve
The backs also need work. Maybe an enlarged, detailed balance and gavels? Right now they're sort of just elements within a pattern instead of focal points

hsbc: I’m conflicted about the font because I actually like it. But with two of you saying it doesn’t work I’ll look at some other options. It’s very similar to your comment about the card backs. I’ve looked at it so much that it grows on me and I stop seeing potential problems. Thank you.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
I'm not too fussed about the font either way, but the constitution edition courts should just be the courts of the whole project, the tuck is nice, but the backs seem very empty, even just experimenting by reversing the colours so that the lines are white rather than the background may be worth doing because that design looks quite good on the tuck.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
Thanks! I was wanting to do a standard type of deck that could be used for magic/card games. I'll look at maybe moving the constitution edition up into an earlier tier to give it a better chance to unlock. That might keep momentum going mid project. I'll also do a color swap of the backs and see how that looks.Adonael wrote:I'm not too fussed about the font either way, but the constitution edition courts should just be the courts of the whole project, the tuck is nice, but the backs seem very empty, even just experimenting by reversing the colours so that the lines are white rather than the background may be worth doing because that design looks quite good on the tuck.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
1. Metallic inks for the back design would go a long way.
2. I LOVE the corners on the court cards (and the colors).
3. The font is awful.
4. The tuck design is fine.

Metallic Ink will be added with USPCC printing. Checking on prices/availability for Red & Blue.

Well, we better get it there, then! I think that these will be a very nice addition to any collection with metallic backs.Magistrate1500 wrote:I consider that the final word on the font then!TwoPiece wrote:1. Metallic inks for the back design would go a long way.

I can't sneak anything past you guys! Ha! Yes, they will change. I wanted to get the courts updated so some of you could have a look before changing the entire deck.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
I think you should drop the gilded stretches and black deck and get USPCC printing as low as possible. 1000% will be tough to reach I think for you.
Move on, nothing to see here.

Re: Relaunch Magistrate Playing Cards
That’s a good idea. Even just eliminating Black would move the stretch goals for everything else up and simplify the campaign. Thank you.RichK wrote:I think you should drop the gilded stretches and black deck and get USPCC printing as low as possible. 1000% will be tough to reach I think for you.
