Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
Guess what?
Lorenzo (Requiem Team) backed!
They're the same creator of the revived Triplicate Decks. Printing using Freedom Playing Card Company, printed with German casino grade black core paper with a linen finish

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
Again, I am sorry but that is what happens when designers have way too much time on their hands and not nearly enough brains to understand the nature of what they are trying to design.

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
I disagree; I have many oddly shaped decks. Triangular cards are not common, but neither is this the first. Circular is another "standard" non-standard shape.
I have a bunch of Michael's stuff and his restoration series was uniformly well-executed and always delivered as promised.
I feel the backs and the courts are well done. If you approach it from a "what would two-way backs and standard courts look like if they were mirrored three ways?" I feel what he's done is, actually, a very well designed answer.
I'm becoming pickier and pickier and backing fewer and fewer projects but I'm in on this one.

I think the court cards that are three-sided are designed brilliantly

I like these, too! I like the look of the triangular cards and think that they are done well. I am in for a pair.
A deck a day helps keep the addiction at bay!

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
This does have a lot of the feel of their restoration decks with the vintage look of the tucks so I was wondering if there is any historical significance to this triangle deck design or if it is original? (original in the sense that it is not a restoration not in the sense that triangle cards have never been made).

I don't like these. Useless for cardistry and magic, I think this is creativity gone in the wrong direction. I get that art is about pushing the boundaries but I like the constraints of a rectangular deck and don't like the idea that designers are thinking outside the rectangular box.

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
I wouldn't say that they are useless for cardistry. Could be fun to play around with these. I would say through the different shape different cuts are possible. I personally would like if some skilled cardists - which excludes me, unfortunatly - would pic up something like this.KT52 wrote:I don't like these. Designwise not my cup of tea though.

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
I'm personally all over these. I love oddball decks (circular, square, mini, half, giant, oval, etc.) and I don't have a triangular deck yet. I'm glad the courts are based on standard. All that said, I only need one example of each oddball to satisfy that collector's itch, so this will be my one and only triangle deck if it funds.

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
Well, seeing this it only confirms that the Triangle creator has put in lots of effort to incorporate the design to the shape, kudos for that!

Most novelty decks like this are poorly-designed at worst so this is a great change of paceDecknowledgy wrote:Well, seeing this it only confirms that the Triangle creator has put in lots of effort to incorporate the design to the shape, kudos for that!

Re: Triangle Playing Cards / Live KS
This is definitely a novelty deck, but I like the idea and the execution. It's now in the last 24 hours and has been fully funded.
Cost: ~US$10 per deck (includes free US shipping)
Current funding level: over 100% (fully funded)
Kickstarter ends: Fri, June 7, 2019
I like the fact that several different decks are being produced, including a Standard Blue deck and a Limited Black and Gold deck, with a numbered stamp seal and a synthetic luxury tuck case. The playing cards themselves will be printed with German casino grade black core paper with a linen finish, so the quality should be good. Other extras that are part of this project include uncut sheets and novelty triangle dealer coins.
It's also worth mentioning that the publisher, Home Run Games, is an experienced creator of custom playing cards, having produced over 50 different decks of playing cards, many with the help of crowd-funding on Kickstarter. They are especially well-known and respected for the multiple restoration decks they have published, which have been praised for their beauty - I have several of these restoration decks and have found the quality to be very good.

I eventually decided to back a set of decks. I think there is a place for this type of novelty deck, especially one well-designed like these. It would be nice to see some others like six pip decks and such.

These are cool in an odd way but since I play with decks, I just wouldn't want these sitting around. I might change my mind.

I'm bad at this but I tried cardistry with Fournier's spanish round cards and I definitely will try again with those.
