Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
IF there were a KS exclusive, I wouldnt think it would be much more fancy than the black version, probably a recolor of the same cost. Would bricks go to 3/3/3/3?
I think the Gemini Noctis seal style would be best. I'm so over tuck flap seals. I think this is a great middle ground and wish all decks would incorporate this if they feel they absolutely need seals.
Oh, for the numbers you could I corporate them into the bulbs of your nixie tube? Clock!
You could do a Luna moon/esther star style fold open style tuck like a pop up book that has you and the Lady sitting on your couch hehe.
Or if you want to make an extra special Ltd deck, use opaque black cello so you have to take it off to see the deck.

Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
I would agree with that. The tuck is already quite busy as it is and to add a sleeve on the top of that would be a tad too much (as much as I like Alex’s sleeves).TwoPiece wrote:I would avoid a sleeve altogether. To me, it doesn't fit the presentation of this project.
A signed sticker on the bottom, like Gemini Noctis, would not be a bad idea.

Somewhat predictably, folk are jumping out of the red/blue tiers and into the tiers that include the black golden foil variant. Ironic that, in theory only, the black would not have been available if the red and blue hadn’t been so well subscribed early on in the piece.
Why ride to your destination in the Toyota Camry when there’s a Maserati parked alongside for more or less the same coin?

Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
A completely expected turn of events. I think we all know the black deck is the belle of the ball. But expensive enough to print that the standard versions needed to happen first.Thedissident001 wrote:Somewhat predictably, folk are jumping out of the red/blue tiers and into the tiers that include the black golden foil variant. EDIT: In fact we toyed with the idea of making the deck only available as an add-on but in the end decided not to.

Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
I find the philosophy behind card collecting very interesting, and I also believe that it evolves over time for some collectors. I used to want every variety of Tally Ho and Bee decks for example, even if it was solely the colour of the deck that changed from one I already owned. Understanding how expensive this hobby can become, I've started to gravitate toward the best individual example of a given deck design, so that I can subscribe to a larger number of different projects at the times when a number of quality offerings hit the market concurrently. There are a couple of designers for whom I'll make an exception and revert back to the Pokémon "gotta catch 'em all" approach but these are becoming increasingly few.

Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
What an enlightening idea. That would be brilliant! If a hypothetical deck becomes true, you should call it the Lady Wake edition. Maybe the back will be her fave colour with all the Q changed to resemble her in her various looks?TheGentlemanWake wrote:Loving the nixie tube clock idea for numbering.
As for Gaff cards, you could do a QoH swap with her in the Coffee Ring version of herself! (Got that idea from Testament's Samson gaff switch, TBH) That would make such a cool effect. If there's space then go for the KoH swap with your fave make up? Or if no space, then a KoH/QoH gaff (Top is QoH, Bottom is KoH) But the Coffee Ring swap would be awesome!

What about "Amateur" since it's his 1st deck?

Stick to your lane big boy. Your a fancy (a good one I might add) deck reviewer, who just very recently started dabbling (I like that word) in deck production...maybe it qualifies though.

Oh, I meant it as Content Creator more than deck creator... although after my next project you may feel diff..... nevermind. One at a time one at a time.Bradius wrote:Stick to your lane big boy. SIDE NOTE:
Does anyone know how accurate the prediction system on backertracker is? Because right now its showing the Parlour closing at 178k. That's absurd. Surely dramatically inflated. Still I'm still over the moon with gratitude over this!

Yes it does seem rather inflated, but I would love to see that for you. Perhaps the new things you and Lorenzo are working on will get you there [emoji846].
Also, I'm flattered and a bit giddy that you like 2 of my ideas hehe.

Thanks for that sentiment J! I will say, that would be the kind of success that would free me up to focus a lot more on the channel/brand. Its amazing how day jobs can get in the way of dreams and success.STLBluesNut wrote:Yes it does seem rather inflated, but I would love to see that for you. Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
Someone else has probably been looking at this better than me and could comment a lot more accurately, but my sense of watching them is it is all over the board. It is very accurate "on average". Your campaign though is anything but average. As such, it is hard to project based on their model. First, you had a large limited early backer incentive, which tends to front load your support (compared to the average Kickstarter). If you have offer up some new special toward the end, this will push up your numbers closer to the average prediction depending on what it is and how it goes. From what I am seeing though, your campaign is moving toward a slow growth until/unless something else intervenes. I think TwoPiece has noted that if someone doesn't get to 50% of the goal amount in the first 24 hours, it is likely going to be an uphill fight to get funded, which is usually the case.Does anyone know how accurate the prediction system on backertracker is?
I think it is safe to say you will be definitely over $100k just with what you have on the table. I am afraid though it is also safe to say that you are very unlikely to pass Mint 2 in funding as well.

Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW) -- LIVE on KS
Oh yeah, that's for certain! Asad had some amazing factors in his favor. 1) A huge youtube audience of about 900k at the time (i'm still nursing my way up to 6k lol) 2) a previously successful KS campaign for Mint 1 at roughly 120k. and c) high demand for those decks on aftermarket driving secondary prices through the roof. It was a perfect recipe for success.Bradius wrote:Someone else has probably been looking at this better than me and could comment a lot more accurately, but my sense of watching them is it is all over the board. I guess the projects Im looking to most for inspiration is Alex Chin's Apothecary series. Especially series II which raised 184k. He did a lot of things right. Hard to emulate it exactly as we don't have a cabinet tier but there are lessons to be learned there.

I agree.TwoPiece wrote:The Parlour > Mint 2 AINEC.
The only close comparison is that they are both rectangular in shape. The Parlour is league's above in design and appeal.
