Bicycle Escape - Now Available
The Bicycle Escape Deck.
This deck recreates the original map deck that was used during WWII. This version has the map drawn on the face cards and when put in order, the original WWII map can been seen. For more information about the original map and how it was hidden from their German captors, read the intriguing write up from USPCC below.
During World War II, the United States Playing Card Company joined forces with American and British intelligence agencies to create a very special deck of cards. This deck was specifically created to help Allied prisoners of war escape from German POW camps.
This deck of cards became known as the “map deck.” It was made by hiding maps of top-secret escape routes between the two paper layers that make up all modern playing cards.
These decks, when soaked in water, could be peeled apart to reveal hidden maps that allowed escaping prisoners to find their way to safety.
Due to the nature of the war and the prosecution of war crimes thereafter, the map decks remained a closely guarded secret for many years after the war ended. The secrecy surrounding them was so high, that no one really knows how many were produced or how many have survived.
There is one on display at the Spy Museum in Washington, D.C. and another one said to be in private hands. It’s possible that these are the ONLY two surviving examples. The card shown in the picture here is a limited edition reproduction made in April of 1990.
Release Date is unknown at this point.

Re: Bicycle Escape
This deck, well the original ones, were such a ground breaking item for history. However, to print the maps on the faces is kind of weird looking : /

Re: Bicycle Escape
although agree they re a little weird looking it is the only way to produce the deck and have it still usable. you can not crack open the king of diamonds to show your friends the map and then sit down to play a game of bridge.

Re: Bicycle Escape
True but not every deck they produce has to be used for games. Just once I would love to see them create this deck the right way where you can peal apart the cards easily. You can even put the map together like a puzzle!

The Escape Map Deck will be available starting August 1 (same as the upcoming Pluma Deck), and is a tribute to the USPC-produced map decks made famous in World War II. During the war, the United States Playing Card Company joined forces with American and British intelligence agencies to create a deck to help Allied prisoners of war escape from German POW camps. Individual cards in these decks peeled apart when moistened to reveal maps of escape routes. This new Escape Map Deck honors the secret circumstances surrounding the original map decks, as well any and all prisoners of war.
The Stag Deck (Working Title)
As you heard last month, we’re going to release a new Club 808 Deck soon—a remake of a historical plate found in our archives. We asked members to suggest names for the deck, and we’ve chosen (and notified) a winner. However, we won’t reveal the new name until we release the deck! Stay tuned—you’ll find out on September 1."

Does it really matter which one it is? Besides with USPCC, it could actually be 9/1!!!!!
Thanks!

Re: Bicycle Escape
Just stating that two conflicting release dates don't make sense. Especially when the release date coming directly from the USPCC themselves states August 1st.BMPokerworld wrote: Does it really matter which one it is? besides with USPCC, it could actually be 9/1!!!!!

Who cares if your right? It isn't about being right or wrong is it? It is giving our community members a heads up when a new deck is coming out right? Maybe they are making it available to the public then but to wholesalers first right?
Thanks!

Just clarifying the situation since there seemed to be some confusion. No need for a little confusion over a released deck and my attempt to clear things up to get heated. It's a silly subject to fight over anyways.
Thanks.
Re: Bicycle Escape
Exactly. Hopefully it will come out on one of those dates and if not, close to one of those dates. Here is a list of dates I have for other decks. Hopefully they will be released on or around that time.Preformer19 wrote:Never said it was about being right. If the decks are actually released on the specified date, we will have them shortly thereafter. The asterisks do not correspond to the number of letters in the decks name.Sharpie wrote:Of the one's you can't disclose, will you be able to do so after that date hits?BMPokerworld wrote:Here is a list of dates I have for other decks. Re: Bicycle Escape
Three unknown decks coming out this month? I hope it's something different nobody haven't revealed yet though most of the 7 Mike revealed earlier this year are already out (Everyday Zombie, Favole, Red Cup, Escape and Red Cupid). I do recall Cherub and a skull deck.
