Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
My sons are big Chris Ramsay fans and we missed out on the first deck. Thought I would surprise them with this new version.
Put a brick in the shopping cart and shipping is $30.00 in the U.S. That seems really high so I am going to have to rethink it.

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
hey guys!! i was able to get a brick plus some singles of the V2's. $30 for shipping is pricey, but this is my rational...
i think that these 1st playing cards are doing so well because they are focused on function...
For the V1 release i only picked up one deck because like some other people here stated, the design wasn't super impressive. i regretted it... not because they started selling for $50 on ebay (if i had know thought ) but because the deck itself handles amazingly. I do have my fair share of beautiful "unopened" or "opened but never shuffled" decks that are strictly for display. However i do magic and cardistry (very poorly i might add) so i put many deck through the ringer. when i handled the 1st V1, they felt great. super soft and easy to handle. If the V2's handle as good as the V1's do (plus i personally like the black version better -black is always better) then these will be just as popular.
if you are into playing and handling your decks. id recommend these decks. if you want them for display...these aren't worth the expensive shipping or ebay prices...

ya'know, the thing I'm actually most upset about is that CR decided to call this deck '1st: V2' and not just '2nd'...

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
Maybe I’m too new to this but I absolutely don’t understand what all the fuss is about. Terrible name, plain cards, expensive price.
If I want cards to use, I’ll go with something that costs less than $15. If I want something special I’ll go for something much more unique and interesting.
Different strokes I guess! Not a slight on Chris, fair play to shift that many decks!

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
I thought the same for the v1. Too plain, didn't really interest me much. However, I do like the back on the v2. I got 2, one for my son and one for me.
I get it though, there are many decks that people are crazy about but I wouldn't walk 5 ft to get a free one.

Chris posted on his IG: 13 hours, 30k decks. Gone. Damn.
That's what 2.26 million subscribers and 205k IG followers will do for you. $15 is a bit pricey which was why I didn't go in the 1st time (which I kinda regret now seeing how much it goes for in the secondary market.)
It is pricey as he is doing something special for the decks like he did for V1. Check out his video explaining the reasons for the delay for the V1.

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
I've seen a couple comments that they were a bit pricey but I'm not too sure. They seem pretty in line for having a matte tuck with foil and foil on the card backs. Also foil inside the tuck.
I've seen many decks that don't have those features for the same price.

I think you are missing a key perspective. Even if you ignore standard courts, then you need to take into account the print run.
1000 vs 2500 vs 5000 vs 25000 -It is a significant difference in cost per deck when you move from left to right.

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
Yeah, I get that, but if you consider just the deck itself, personally, I don't think $15 is too much for what it is. I've seen much less go for much more. I would rather see a deck made available at a decent price in a higher quantity than an artificially induced rarity for an inflated price because someone made the conscious decision to make only 100.
At the end of the day it all comes down to what we think its value is and what we would pay. There are a lot of decks out there that people go nuts for at crazy prices that I wouldn't bother taking the time to fill out an address if they were giving them away for free.

Yes, I do agree with you that this v2 as well as earlier v1 we're priced right. $15 is not too much as well.STLBluesNut wrote:Yeah, I get that, but if you consider just the deck itself, personally, I don't think $15 is too much for what it is. I referred to the print run as it is highly possible that the people who are complaining of high price are looking at this deck from customization as well as a print run perspective while you are coming from the stance that $15 is a good enough price where decks with not enough features or customization were getting sold for a higher price, so what is the problem with the complainers.

I get that too, I generally stay away from standard courts. Perhaps I put too much value on shiny foily things lol.

That's a return surely??
I was surprised how off-centred some of my T11 decks were. Is this a USPCC thing now?

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
Yeaaa occasionally uspcc decks get their registration messed up, I have an aviator deck where pretty much every card is off center. Its a real shame because other than that occasional issue USPCC sets the bar in terms of quality.

USPCC's margin of better stocks/finishes does not outweigh EPCC's margin of better registration. That's why I consider EPCC's Taiwan printer the best in the business right now. For 'artsy' decks, I definitely prefer EPCC in a Kickstarter campaign.
USPCC is better for decks that require the best handling and durability. Magic, cardistry, etc. I prefer EPCC for all decks that I intend on playing poker, euchre, etc with.

You would like the Imperial decks TwoPiece (both the KWP and the Conjuring Arts versions). Great for poker.

I think you're right. That's a deck that I skipped on, and that I've recently considering getting a hold of.TheGentlemanWake wrote:You would like the Imperial decks TwoPiece (both the KWP and the Conjuring Arts versions). Great for poker.

Re: First playing cards by Chris Ramsay Second Edition
Wow! Using Brad's method to calculate the remaining stock, there's over 2700 decks still available. So whoever's buying these decks at above cost must be cursing themselves if they ever found that out! Hahaha.
Edit: A quick check of ebay shows most V2 selling at around $25 with $20 being the lowest and a few at $30-$35. So pity the poor fellows getting ripped off on ebay.

Do you know how many we're sold the first round? I'm guess it's 3000 this time. I think Chris Ramsey has more subscribers than Asad on YouTube. I can't remember how many mint decks we're sold but it's possible that there will still be a demand even after the 3000

I didn't buy these, nor did I buy the first edition, but what I'm really looking forward to not buying is the Second Playing Cards, First Edition.
