I am interested at what PipChick thinks of this deck. This art is so out there, she might really dig this stuff.
Bradius, you know me too well

lol the bizarro surrealistic nature of the art alone has me excited and, on first glance, I was ready to insta-back...
buuuutt, after finally snappin' outta my love-induced state of admiration for the art, I spent some time looking over the project and, to be completely honest, I had (still have) some reservations that made me pause to think before smashin' the pledge button;
Firstly, I somewhat agree with others about the lack of pips and the "unobtrusively placed" indices and feel that even just by changing the placement to the right-hand corner on both ends and adding a small pip below to indicate the card's suit, yet still leaving out the rest of the value pips from the center as to not compete with, distract from, and/or obstruct the art, would nonetheless greatly improve practicality/playability for those so inclined to use this particular deck for that purpose. But, considering that this deck was obviously
not explicitly designed for that intended purpose, but rather used only as a medium by which to share the designer's art, the qualms I have in this specific regard doesn't really deter me enough to still not wanna own this deck, because I still really, really do wanna
I am, however, more apprehensive about the price at which these decks are being offered - $25 bucks for what essentially is a reprinted deck of 3,000 editions produced by EPCC and in a tuck that doesn't even include any other extraordinary additional features is kinda a stretch for me, even for a deck I really love...

Now, don't get me wrong, I do recognize and greatly appreciate that there's original art on
every.
single.
card and that some slight modifications had been made in re-painting and digitizing of the work to create a cleaner, brighter and more saturated aesthetic compared to the dark, antique look of the 1st edition in order to better suit the contemporary reiteration of the original inspiration to make it more universally relevant to today's times; but then again, there's plenty of really great art decks already out there that were printed in lower print runs, by better companies AND feature at least
some sort of tuck premium like matte stock, cutouts, embossing/debossing, metallic inks, foil, etc. that somewhat justify a slightly higher premium, but are
still priced roughly at or below what this one's demanding...
With all that said and done after brief deliberation (that was actually quite mentally extraneous, I might add), I still ended up jumpin' in for a deck at the EB pledge tier...

But, to be frank, I'm still
reeeaally on the fence about keeping it and it's the artwork that I adore so much alone that's keeping me back from dropping
juuuusst quite yet as I'm really seriously considering to do so and, now that it's already funded, instead waiting 'til after it's produced to pick one up later
also, just for the record: playing cards don't necessarily have to simultaneously be
everything to
everyone - that's what makes this hobby so great because there's literally
something for all regardless where people's specific interests lie. So I appreciate that decks like these exist, just as much as I appreciate that gaff decks exist for purposes other than explicitly intended for gameplay

but that doesn't necessarily make them any less of a deck of cards and I really don't think we gotta reignite the ageless debate
again over what "is" and "isn't" subjectively deemed "playing cards"

Because I collect
playing cards.

btw, this is probably only hysterically amusing to me as it comes from a guy that keeps all his decks sealed...
EDIT: I also really hate that the art editions are a whooping $150 bukaroos each only because it gives me a bad case of the sadz that I can't afford to own one... *pout*
