It was no Suicide Squad or The Last Jedi, thankfully.

I think that Brie Larson did a fine job. I was worried about her performance. Her character's let downs are definitely flaws in plot/writing. I think she'll be a fine addition to the Avengers. Whether or not she can be a leader for the MCU beginning in Phase 4 - I have serious doubts.

Now, there were a few scenes that seemed a little too PC for me. I had the same feeling when I saw Black Panther for the 1st time, too, and the 2nd go around I didn't agree with myself lol. I'm hoping that when I see it again tonight, those "PC moments" don't stick out to me. It would make the movie a tiny bit better.

I probably won't see it beyond a 2nd time in theaters, but at least I am looking forward to seeing it again. If you're on the edge - I definitely suggest going through the experience. The acting is all done well. The de-aging and Skrull CGI is all fantastic outside of ONE Nick Fury shot. I'm personally not a fan of the 'Super Saiyan' CG. It doesn't look authentic, and IMO it's clunky (for lack of a better term).

Endgame just can't come soon enough.

I feel like they maybe should have just had a younger actor play Nick Fury, but I haven't seen the movie, yet, so I can't comment. Both Rogue One and Tron: Legacy had a weird uncanny feeling when I saw them de-age/digitally insert the actors.

Agree with most of 2pc's assessments. I quite enjoyed the 3rd act though, CG notwithstanding. The movie was kind of a slow burn up until that point, but overall enjoyable and entertaining.

It's MUCH better than those (and the de-bearding of Henry Cavill too). Looked very natural.

The only time it was really recognizable was in the actions of Jackson, rather than the visual effects. For example, there's the scene where they're in the underground military complex looking for files. Jackson is down on one knee and then gets up to a standing position. The way he puts his hand on his knee for support. The entire movement of his body is reflective of his age and not the 30 something year old he's supposed to be.

It's small things like that in the way that he moves like an older man that give it away. Not the effects.

Regarding Justice League movie:

"Even though I wasn't able to ask my question during the Q&A I did get the chance to ask Zack face to face about the Snyder cut. He said "the movie is done, it exists" but basically it is up to WB. He is not aware that WB has any plans to release."

Speaking of DC, Shazam sounds like it's going to be a really good movie, not just a good super hero movie, but a good movie.

I still need to see Captain Marvel. I mostly want to see it because I plan to see EndGame.

If Endgame is going to satisfy, it's going to have to address *many* threads, and resolve at least a few of them. I think the longer run time bodes well for that.

April is going to be an epic month. Game of Thrones final season. Avengers: Endgame. And, who knows? Maybe even one of those Lotrek decks I keep hearing about.

According to Kevin Feige - it's the series finale to all things Phase 1-3. So, if it's going to satisfy, then it has to live up to that billing. Thanos, the Infinity Stones, they all must go.

He said that Captain Marvel isn't going to just swoop in and save the day. The Original 6 Avengers are the focus.

The Russo Bros said that they can't cut any more film without sacrificing storytelling. It'd be nice if a certain competing studio would take some notes...

It took me 35 minutes to get all of my tickets because Emagine's website kept crashing. I basically had a 30-minute heart attack lol. Since I buy tickets for basically everyone that wants to see it and was worried that other people were able to snatch them.

Avatar 2 doesn't have 1% of the hype that Endgame does.

It'll have to be more than stunning visuals and unbelievable CGI.

It will be tough as longer running times means less screenings overall per day. But considering how well they led up to it, it could be the first 3 hr plus movie to reach that target.

It's a good teaser. Teases storytelling more than Joker-ing. Need to see more Joker in the next one, though, IMO.

According to people who have attended pre-screenings, the promo footage seen in trailers and TV spots does only take place within the first 30 minutes of Endgame. The last 90 minutes of so are heralded as, "mind blowing" and, "completely unexpected".

So, I went to see Shazam! this weekend. Overall, I liked it better than Aquaman, it also had some really emotional moments. I genuinely felt better after I left the theatre than before I went in. Only a few movies deliver that kind of feel good.

My one thing is that I am not sure if I had young children that I would take them to see this-- there were some pretty insanely violent scenes (like beyond like the pew pew of lasers in Star Wars or like Iron Man's repulsor blasts used comically against CGI aliens) for the rating they gave it (or, maybe I am just getting older) and some foul language (although, used comedically).

I won't comment on Zachary Levi outside of he did make it believable that he is a 14 year old boy on the inside. I feel like that's less acting and more just being a man, I'm 34, but I'm still really 14 on the inside. It is very funny, though, without losing the seriousness of the plot.

My last gripe is that the movie dates itself, in that everything seems very relevant NOW, but I am sure 10 years from now some of the plot devices, soundtrack, and such will probably feel semi-cringe (like, "oh, yeah, gawd, that was 2019 wasn't it? ugh." feeling).

There were some like jump-react/scare moments, some of them were for comedic effect and the others were suspense/dramatic. It's not the suspense part that's the problem I think for little children, I think it is the gore, tbh. Real gore is hard to handle as an adult-- assuming you're not maladjusted, and unless you want to raise a desensitized, maladjusted adult I don't think exposing them to that at a young age is a great idea unless it is in the context of something real-- but I know some of the things in the movie would not have flown when I was kid. People found the Dark Crystal to be a bit on the dark side for children, despite that being the target audience, when I was a kid. And that was more to do with the grotesque/macabre design and appearance of the creatures and world than it did any actual gore.

That isn't to say I think children should be shielded from realities of life, but I remember seeing my first fatal car accident as a kid-- that was the first time I ever really recognized my own mortality and that it can come at any time. The only times I had dealt with death and mortality was when very elderly members of my family passed away, and that seemed normal because everyone said it was normal (they were in their 90s for the most part, a couple were centenarians), and I think by showing things in graphic detail like humans being eaten/chopped up, blown literally to bits, or shot-up kind of robs children (and their parents) from a very important and philosophical moment where it would be appropriate for the parent to have a conversation about mortality, violence and how that relates to the importance of life with their kid.

I never thought I would be the guy to be saying this, but I think I finally get why my parents quickly put their hands over my eyes during certain scenes in movies. It was in order to protect the innocence that at some point would need to be shattered to mature emotionally at the right time, but only at the right time.

Aside from that though, if you are an adult and you've seen things you already can't unsee in real life and have a good grasp on the boundary between fiction for entertainment and reality (the fourth wall) there is plenty to keep the movie exciting.

Also, I really want to like the upcoming Joker movie, I'm just not sure about Joaquin Phoenix. I mean, obviously there is no more Heath Ledger, but I think Phoenix is just weird enough to pull it off. He was almost there with Commodus in The Gladiator, it would only take a nudge to get him to perfect Jokerdom, assuming he doesn't kill himself after studying the role. Then again he could just end up playing Doc Sportello from Inherent Vice all over again and the movie could suck.
