I stand corrected about the timing of the availability of the display deck, but I dropped my pledge well before March 17 so I never got that update and was only going by what was posted here in this thread. Like Rousselle mentioned, there's really no mention about the availability of the display deck on his main KS page so there's no reasonable way for you to know unless you go through all the updates you never received.Marcus wrote:If anyone feel upset about the display decks being available to everyone and not just the Camelot backers, by all means - everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But claiming it was done "last minute" or "last second" and calling it "sketchy" (actual quotes here, guys) is quite the stretch. JR sent out an update to everyone mentioning it both in the headline and the actual update, and it was done on March 17th - 18 whole days before the campaign ended. That's 25,920 last minutes, or 1,555,200 last seconds, and clearly communicated to everyone concerned.

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian -- Live on KS
As I tend to always go through any existing updates for a project I pledge (perhaps a bit overzealous, but it lets me stay as updated as possible) the scenarios some of you mention did not cross my mind. They hold merit of course, and yes the campaign page could have been updated about it. It would've given new and potential backers a better headsup, and for JR it could've meant a higher pledge total. (See, communication is always good! )
I can't speak for anyone else, but discussions of this kind gives me more value and a lot more reason to contribute. Thank you for giving it a bit more nuances.

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian -- Live on KS
My biggest issue isn't the way it was handled, but how I feel Jackson feels about it: Aloof and apathetic. He takes his 'can't please everyone' mentality to a place boarders on narcissism in a sense that I feel like he sees himself as infallible; and whenever he does make a mistake, rather than try to correct it he just goes 'Well that sucks, but whatever, c'est la vie' and when his supporters inevitably ask for him to seek alternative solutions his response is 'probably not, can't please everyone'. I know that is a bit of an extreme example, but Jackson doesn't make any effort to make his backers feel important
Jackson completely revolutionized the way I waste money...

I wasn't super crazy about this deck at first, but I have to say that I am warming to it, I am actually really starting to like it. I think that I'll try to get both of these when they hit the market.

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian -- Live on KS
Normans love the whole King Myth concept ....
The Victorians so much so that it parodies itself.
Though the title 'Arthurian' is victorian era .... artos/urtos is a pagan concept denied/apropriated.
But I'm a sucker for the whole Mediaeval Illuminated Manuscript scenario, which is a not unrelated propaganda excercise again.
Le Morte d'Arthur
The Once and Future King.
The Crystal Cave.
The Magic Roundabout.
Oops.

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian -- Live on KS
Jack$on posted on instagram that he purchased an old press with plans to do his own tucks & decks even. While the possibilities are cool, I'll remain cautious. Once bitten twice shy and all that.
As for Arthurian, I'm still somewhat underwhelmed, but admittedly not as much as I was before I saw the pics.

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian -- Live on KS
I have been thinking this for a while now, but haven't bothered to post it yet. There might be a reference to The Witcher books in this deck, in the Queen of Spades to be precise, named the Lady of the Lake in the extra card.
The Lady of the Lake is the one that gives Arthur the sword Excalibur in the King Arthur stories. In the Witcher books, in the last book to be precise (named The Lady of the Lake) the other main character of the story Ciri teleports to an another world and lands on a pond, which causes the Elves watching this call her The Lady of the Lake. Also the book begins and ends with Ciri telling about the events of the book to a young knight in the world of King Arthur (Ciri is able to travel between the worlds) who mistakes her for the Lady of the Lake as she is bathing in a lake, which annoys Ciri, as she is not exactly pleased to remember her time with the Elves who called her with the same name. Anyways, the Queen of Spades looks very similar to how Ciri is portrayed in the The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, with the white hair and the white shirt

Yes. The image being used, I think, was referenced as a piece of inspiration for JR's design. It was probably attached to the KS or an update at some point.Decknowledgy wrote:So umm... still the same as the Kickstarter, right? (Thanks, Two Birbs )

That's a really cool Celtic knot design, though, so now I find myself asking "what deck DID that other back design come from?"

The image used was of an alternate back design that I had designed but didn't end up using it. I like it so much I put it as the back of the info key card. It is NOT the back design.

I agree. JR's always been one of the best artists/designers because he doesn't tend to revisit old projects. I took a hard pass on Federal 52 V2. The Halloween Crazy 8's are okay. Let the past die!Bradius wrote:...Not too wild about going back to the Arthurian project again...

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian
This is simply the completion of the original concept I had for the Arthurian. I wanted the LTD Camelot's to be gilded when I ran the first Kickstarter but at the time EPCC didn't offer gilding and now that I have a solid gilding vendor I wanted to take a small number of the LTD Display decks that are just sitting in my shop and that I'm not selling and complete the idea. They are the exact same cards as the original LTD Camelots. I agree revisiting the old project in a big way (reprinting them) is something I don't like doing and have never done unless I am going to make significant changes to art as I did with the Federal 52 V2s.
I only made 200 of them.

Gilding is losing its luster real fast, though. Thankfully I don't have too many gilded decks. I'm kinda getting sick of everyone doing it to everything.
Edit: Actually, I'd rather have one of these in my brick box than one of the display decks... Are they going to be sealed in cellophane?

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian
My question would be how you would price it? Because I'm really interested in the artwork but not in the gilding that bumps up the price and makes me not want to handle them. If it's too pricey, I'll tend to give it up even if it's my current white whale.JacksonRobinson wrote:I wanted the LTD Camelot's to be gilded when I ran the first Kickstarter but at the time EPCC didn't offer gilding and now that I have a solid gilding vendor I wanted to take a small number of the LTD Display decks that are just sitting in my shop and that I'm not selling and complete the idea.

I don't have a display deck, but I do have a Camelot/Excalibur set I could part with. I would only ask for what I paid + shipping.

Yes, they will be in cellophane. I doubt they will be sealed as it would destroy the "sword in the stone" effect the tuck case has. I could totally understand your feelings about gilding, I feel the same way about card foiling at the moment.

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian
If there is interest in the display decks of the LTD Camelot I could put them for sale at the same time I put these new Golden Arthurians up.Decknowledgy wrote:Thanks 2piece for the tip.
Anyone willing to spare me a display deck? Please PM me!

Re: Kings Wild Project, Arthurian
I kind of agree with gilding becoming kind of, meh, for me. The emerald insights green gilding is what hooked me into this hobby months ago. I have since purchased several gilded decks. Gilding just looks beautiful!
However, the gilding makes me nervous to really handle them much. I certainly am not wanting to shuffle them or anything like that. Handling becomes very sticky just looking at them. So I love the way they look but I am almost over even purchasing them at this point after about 6 months of collecting.
Foil on the cards though! I cannot get enough. Especially the Cartamundi cold foil. It does not seem to effect handling at all and appears to be under the finish so it is not going to wear or flake off. Gimme all the face and back foiling!

Do you have a release date in mind? I would have to plan for US friends to pick them up for me.
