Swordswomen Playing Cards live on Kickstarter

Unread post by Räpylätassu »

Great artwork but not all of it is finished apperantly...? Don't launch if the artwork is not complete! They have not even decided on the printer!

I like the theme and the artwork but somehow this campaign smells like a potential production hell

I can understand wanting to launch before completing art, if you spend hours doing art and it doesn’t fund you gunna have a bad time!

I like the artwork that I see but unknown printer, no images of number card design and a relatively high price are keeping me out for now.

The printer for this project is Hanson Chien. The number card designs are clearly shown in the trailer. We are more than halfway done with the art: producing the rest will be straightforward. As for having all of the art complete, Kickstarter is used to, you know, kickSTART projects. All the best.

oof i've been exposed as having not watched the trailer, having seen the number cards they look really good! With that in mind I think there is a good chance I end up backing this one before it ends.

Alex, so glad to have you here on the UC to engage with us. Couldn't back the JEUX D'EAU due to $, but I've definitely gone in for this. Love the full sized courts and the multi-cultural reach of this deck. Already posted in the comments, but would like to state it here as well, to have the names of the courts on a card for those who love history.

Thanks Eric. Yes, an extra card will be included that names all the swordswomen. Glad to find people who appreciate the history, not just the art.

Why a 1-way back for a seemingly 2-way design..? Doesn't make any sense.

I think in this case it's more interesting aesthetically to have the flower tilt one way; the one-way back also "matches" the one-way courts, and a one-way back design can be used for magic.

As our project nears its last 24 hours: Thank You to the forum members who supported us. In addition we have posted our latest court card portrait and are a few days away from revealing another: hopefully this alleviates the original concern of Räpylätassu about producing more art. We have also met our goal for seals, embossing and a custom Ace of Spades. Thanks again to all.

Thank you dawn. In the future we hope to have fully "complete" artwork sets to show our backers, but in this case we had to gauge interest to justify the rest of the project, and thankfully supporters came out in... uh, spades.

That being said, it is exciting to see the portraits unveiled one by one!

The creator launched a new campaign for the Art Book, you can also pledge for the playing cards that were funded in the previous campaign.

I'm broke as hell right now but I will for sure be getting one deck of these in the aftermarket, I was sceptical at the original launch but the artwork turned out great.

I’m a bit concerned that the goal for this campaign will be too high to fund. I imagine most people who wanted a deck would have got it in the last campaign, and the golden/sepia deck, which would be my only incentive to buy more cards. doesn’t unlock until $15000. The art book alone probably wouldn’t generate $10k in funding.

I hope I’m wrong because I am all for art and fun history facts, and wow the new portraits are looking great!

Second campaign for another edition. This time with a red aka not as good as blue back design colour.

For a great review of the first edition, head over to Tim's youtube channel... or click play below you lazy ... 😜

Does anyone have an extra original blue edition or even an opened mint condition one?
Would be happy to purchase...

I second this 😅. I missed out on the original campaign and never saw one popping-up on eBay.

The original deck is still on my hunting list. Might even be the only deck I regret not getting. The Tarot version though... I don't know.

Doesn't really suit the format imho. Feels pretty darn empty.

By the way; did anyone ever see the crimson red edition printed by USPCC in the wild 🤔? I didn't see them either.

Similar thoughts here. I’ve been on the hunt for one for the last two years. I’ve only ever seen one come across eBay, which I gobbled up last month. It was one of the originals blues. But I’ll probably pass on the tarot. Really wish they’d do a reissue of the poker decks

That was in my earlier days when I was more sane, and I pledged for a single deck.
