A TCC deck with a delivery date of February 2019... I'm gonna go ahead assume that these cards have already been produced and they're just using KS to sell them.

There's not much picture for the Blackstone deck, and it's so stupid that they put Bund 18 pictures in the first half of their campaign page...

TCC is smarter this time (after couple campaigns got cancelled couple times because of selling existing stuff), but still a easy no for me because I believe I can get any of their deck with a cheaper price on Taobao

When you factor in the price of one deck $296hkd and multiple it by 6 ($1776) it works out to be a difference of $3902hkd / $498us~ for the Bund18 decks. I think that's a fair and honest price tag for those decks. Still hard to find nowadays to say the least.

Anyways, glad to see these decks. More info on the Blackstone decks would definitely help with me buying more than one.

Blackstone Magic Bar (Close up magic) was opened by Anson Chen last year in Shanghai. Anson is the Managing Director of Bund18 and in 2012 asked Lawrence Sullivan of LPCC, a good friend of his, to produce the Bund18 decks. These are the follow up decks to the Bund 18 decks for his new Magic Bar, which is very popular in Shanghai, and I expect these decks to be somewhat desirable in the future.

No pictures of the court cards, which is almost always a sign that there is nothing to show.

This deck is riding only on the fact that Bund18 decks sell with high prices on ebay. If the creator would bother to actually show in pictures why I should get this deck instead of building BS hype around it, I would bother to care a bit more.

Agreed with the math and I came to the same results when I did the calculation. However this is based on the fact that I give them the credit to price the new deck @$38, which IMO should be take a 50% discount, if not more. That brings the set to 600+ (which is no discount to any sets I saw in the market over the last two years)

I agree the main campaign page does not give much details but update 3 shows the product very well with a few short videos. The courts are fully customed and the deck looks quite nice. It is a very big box for 1 deck but I like it. There are only a couple of decks left for those who are on the fence

Since the documents have been submitted at the time of fundraising, the decks have all been printed recently, but based on feedback from some backers that they don't like the card courts, we decide to destroy all the decks and redesign and reprint them after talking with Mr Anson Chen.

Of course, this will greatly increase our cost and cost us more time, but as always, TCC pays more attention to customer satisfaction than this, and hopes to do our best to provide you with the most satisfactory products.

Whatever As with all TCC projects, the decks were printed well before the project even began and I doubt that TCC did it out of good will for their customers, but because Anson told them to.

Nevertheless, I am glad that they are re-doing the courts...look forward to seeing what they are.

Actually, like most, if not all of TCC projects, these decks were in production or produced well before they launched their project and there are decks out there in the wild as I have seen them firsthand. Nevertheless, I wouldn't call it a scam and do believe that Anson wants to have a stand out deck for people to enjoy and appreciate.

and this is why you shouldn't be misusing the KS platform - is it misrepresentative of the product and the use of the funds being/were collected, as in this case and, if I was a backer, I'd certainly be awfully pissed to see anything widely different than what the project page was originally offering and what I was expecting my pledge to be going towards, especially if it was already in the hands of others out there as shermjack has attested to seeing himself.

I'm actually glad this happened to TCC because I think they ought to learn to stop (ab)using KS as a store to sell off their stock and hope they get a lot of backlash in their attempt to do so as this is def not the first time , but I do also genuinely feel for Anson as it's ultimately his Blackstone deck and reputation on the line - too bad he didn't partner up with a more reputable producer to help create it...

I guess there's no point in crying over spilt milk, but if I was a backer, I admit that I'd still do so anyways and think they have every right to be upset about this situation as fault lies solely on TCC and it's unfair as backers may end up getting a deck that's very different from what they originally put their money up to pledge for. That's not to say the the new design will be worse, but there's no way to know that it'll be better either, or more likely, that'll be what everyone prefers over the old design... so it's def too early yet to call this project a 'scam', but it fo' sho smells fishy and we'll all just have to wait and see what comes of the situation - the jury's still out on this one.

We also hope to re-print the decks and bear the cost, the card faces has also been designed as below, but Mr Anson Chen still prefers the original design, we need to respect his decision.

In addition, many customers told us that they would not wait for another 2-3 months and hope to maintain the original designs.

Therefore, we decided to maintain the original designs and will ship it out in February.

We define this as a collection set and believe that it will likely appreciate. We understand the customers who withdraw from the fundraising. We hope that we can create works that are very satisfying to you in the future.

For the inconvenience, we will be making a limited gift for all backers of this project in the next Blackstone project.

Dear Community,

I was one of the three fortunate people that pledged for the BUND18 rewards in the most recent Blackstone Playing Cards Campaign on Kickstarter by TCC. For those of you who do not know, BUND18 is one of the most prestigious sets in the world of playing cards. To get this set, I pledged $500 which is a sum of money that I have never pledged before.

I received the reward a couple of days ago and after you hear what happened to me, you will no longer think that I am fortunate and you will know something about TCC.

Naturally, after backing such a big project, I was highly excited to receive the package and guess what I found when I opened the delivery box... I found the red deck from the BUND18 completely opened... Like any reasonable person, I contacted the creator of this Kickstarter in hopes of getting a new deck or simply a refund. This is what I received:

"Dear Sheng Liu

We can understand when you see your card be opened.
So we take it very seriously and did the investigation.
First of all, we never ship out damaged products, you can also see at least 10 layers of protection inside and outside the decks.
So the problem is in the transportation sector, but the transportation company does not have the right to unpack our packaging.
After communicating with the transportation company, we know that when the goods arrive in your country (US), the customs checks the goods and unpacks your cards.
We often encounter such problems, but this is not subjectively caused by the seller, we can understand and bear the losses. I hope you can understand, we deeply regret for that.

Obviously, I thought that this message meant they would "bear the losses" since they "often encounter such problems". So I followed up with an email asking if I could get a new red deck. To my surprise, this is what they sent:

"Hi, Sheng Liu
We deeply regret for that，and we hope you could understand this is not subjectively caused by the seller.
We are sorry that we couldn't send a new one for you.
Best "

Seriously? Is this how you treat your backers? Did I spend $250 for an opened deck? If this happens so often, you would surely let everyone know in RISKS and CHALLENGES right? So TCC is completely blaming the "transportation sector in US" when they clearly tried to take advantage of me. I really lost all the respect I had for TCC. I have received decks from the outside many times and this has never happened before.

Please share this to the community. I have photo proofs of all the messages and the opened deck itself. I just want a fair share of what I paid for. Thank you

I feel really sorry to hear that. And I'm SHOCKED this happened and they that's their response. Even though I never like TCC or EPCS, but this is simply unacceptable.

1. Are you serious? This is the first time I know US custom opens a deck. Chiness custom do that all the time I'm sure TCC knows about that, but they need to find a better excuse.
2. They send hundreds of black stone decks to US, and the custom simply open the most precious one? Are you kidding me?


It's pretty obvious to me that then intentionally sent an opened deck to Sheng, and they have figured a "good excuse" which actually not working here. A lot Chinese vintage deck collector has suffered huge loss because of custom opening their sealed Jerry's, but not US custom.

Wow glad I did not get the three slots. This is a way bigger loss than the taht of the J&T backers

This is not news to me.. I have had decks from China opened twice before and both times I did re purchase the decks. US customs does that from time to time and it really sucks but it is not TCC fault What really is crappy is that they opened one of the Bund decks

I think saying they intentionally sent an opened deck is wrong. US customs does open decks it is just reality. I found a better safe way to get the decks i want from China so it doesnt happen to me anymore
