I don't mind the "For players, collectors, practitioners of magic" but I think it would be better if it was much smaller.

RichK wrote:Not sure about the front text. Looks comical, not serious. The "For players, collectors, practitioners of magic" seems unneeded for me. I'd make the "twg" the central item, bigger too. Gold wrap around band is nice though.

My opinion only. Not a deal beaker.
The main idea of the “style” is to replicate the old world turn of the century placard advertising common at the time. Often that involved “flowery” descriptors. So the typesetting does have a hand drawn rendered feel. There are many decks like contraband, citizens, tycoons etc they treat the text with a more typical label making style and the thought was to stand out a bit. Still good feedback nonetheless.

there will likely be players/workers versions with standard backs and a collector friendly luxury version.... with foil. :)

I love the look of the front but the back feels a bit plain in comparison.

Hi all!

thanx for the feedback, just mind it is still work in progress and changes are being made. For example the text "pratcitioners of magic" will be replaced by - for now - card enthusiasts.
Someone pointed out that the word "magic" might be a problem for performers.

Just stay tuned, the work is in progress :)

I cant believe i just lost my whole post....heres the summary:

love the deck cant wait to hold it.

the text does look comical, Check out some type specimen books from the era you are trying to emulate. Here is a link to an AWESOME one that also includes how they can be used is ads and labels.
https://archive.org/details/bookoftypes ... h/page/636

I agree with S17 about removing the "practitioners of magic," I would play around with "& Enthusiasts" with & being more ornamental.

When Ellusionist first came out with their coins they wanted them to be "magic" without saying "magic," so they used a latin phrase instead, something to ends of "you are being deceived" as a headnod to magicians, but also to add the element of flare and luxury.

How about Purveyors of Illusion, or Illusionists. I tend to prefer that over magic. However, you are going for an older feel, so I like how it is written to be honest. However, it is not a big deal to me. Looks super awesome!

This is me nitpicking:
I agreed. It does look epic. I think for me, the shapes are awesome, but the text itself is so...bubbly. It mixes woodblock with art nuevo types that, while creating a unique style, doesnt seem to fully coalesce. Second "the" really sticks out to me. I like "Purveyors of Illusion"

Just curious, are you using the same font as the one you use in your videos? Since it's your deck, it makes sense that the same font be used here as well. It's classy and elegent. Matches the living room/parlour background for your videos.

It’s loosely based on the channel aesthetic but Lorenzo hand drew/designed all of the typefaces

I agree about the bubbliness but I don't mind the font over all. I do loathe the "u" though. Something about it keeps drawing my eye in a not good way.

I really like how well you and Lorenzo have been able to add so many different elements of your own at-home 'set' / living room where you shoot your vids to give even the ad card a personal touch that's cohesive to the deck and your overall brand - well done and very cool :)

Hey guys! Ok updates here and feedback would be appreciated. Here’s the evolved ad card. Super happy with it. Also we are preparing for the best case scenario of a luxury version of the deck and need some feedback. Which one do you like of these below. The white poker border (more classi) or the gold foil border (original and no deck has that on back and feels very luxury— pretty great fans and dribbles I’m sure) one of my fave things to do with cartomancer is fab the faces because of border.

If you're going for a super lux edition, I don't see any reason not to go all out and feature foil on the borders; I mean, you're already offering the standard editions with a more classic feel that are practical for gameplay, so why not make this one really shine? 8-)

go for it! :ugdance:

Probably the minority but I like white border. Too much gold on gold bordered back.
Move on, nothing to see here.

Let’s see what deck I have sitting right now on my desk? It is the HOTRS Catrtomancer deck. Those gold foil borders, smooth handling and gorgeous artwork is impossible to resist. For a luxury edition, go with the gold foil borders if you can possibly swing it.

There's plenty of white bordered decks out there. Gold bordered decks, very few.

+1 for HOTRS Cartomancer being amazeballs, I may have to buy some more of those. If only Lorenzo shipped from Sweden, perhaps I could save some on shipping.

This is really hard. My general rule is the more foil the better, but I kind of like the white borders better. I love the foil on the beetles and the other decorations though!

Gold beetle backs for the win.

It IS tough isn't it?! LOL.

Man I think I'm leaning toward the gold borders just because of how unique it will be. But I'm still definitely open to more suggestions. If ever there was to be a deck with copious amounts of gold it's probably mine. lol

1. I like both blue and red editions with white borders. Very classic.
2. Gold borders on black? I don't know. Too dark for me.

Silver?

If you are doing cold foil, you can go with silver foil on the white parts. I think once you go cold foil, there is no additional cost for the number and amount of foil on the cards.
