Thanks Rich and STLBluesNut for feedback.

I have updated them and have put in the original pips back. Would love your thoughts.

I guess I was kind of vague. I more meant to change the index pips to match those inside the border. The realistic ones would probably look better on the number cards too.

Wow, thanks Justin! Now I'm really invested in seeing this get funded!

Frames look much better. Consider changing the colour of the frames to look like a classic wooden frame. It'll make it fit the theme of portraits.

I also echo RichK "Like the borders but the pips seem off. I can see the 3D depth edge on Club and Diamond easier. Not sure they look realistic."
Consider removing the 3D edge on the C and D pips. Keep the texture and see how it looks with the textured pips on both in and out of the frame.

Interesting how the QoC came out looking like an older lady compared to the QoHm ( which is right now, my fave). Was that intentional? Nice touch anyway in interpreting which court is older or younger, the personalities of the individual like the JoD being fiercer than the others. Can't wait to see all the courts and their individual personalities coming out.

That is awesome as that is exactly what I was trying to do, to make the borders look like Wooden frames, Royal Portraits.

Here are also how the cards look with the new pips without the 3D effect.

I will definitely have a go with trying out a wooden color and perhaps awooden texture for the border frames.

Also would love feedback on either having the same frame for all the suits or to have a different frame for each suit.

Hmm... The QoS frame colour does looks good, like STLBluesNut . Perhaps consider matching the frame colour with the suit? Reddish Mahogany with the reds, while Dark Brown Walnut for the blacks?

After seeing the textured pips with the frames, some of them seem more distracting. I like the wooden clubs. So perhaps also go with a less flashy Spade, more muted but solid metal look. Heart maybe more soft, fleshy look (without being disgusting, gory?) Mute the sparkle on the diamonds a bit more?

If you are adding gilded picture frames like that it starts to make them look like old fashioned portraits, I wonder whether you have tried adding a kind of dark background within the frame like such old portraits would often have. I mean like a dark brown or dark grey. I don't know whether it would work, and it's not really what I thought when I first saw the designs, but with these frames it could be worth a test.

No probs, will do a less flashy effect on the pips. Thank you :D

Would love feedback for the back of the card, thou I am thinking to make the edges around the card a clean white.

At last we get to see the backs! Been looking forward to it. The design overall is very nice and suits the theme. However in another thread on this sam forum, TGW mentioned about the line weight or lack of it making the courts look flat. It's the same issue here for your back. For a realistic portraits of the courts, the backs need to match the front cards as well.

Right now the back design doesn't pop as much as the front. The backs also needs to look realistic as well to fit with the theme.I'm not a designer, so I don't know the technical terms for what I'm describing.

I must confess though, that I'm comparing this deck with The Golden Age deck produced by Agitcom. That's the benchmark for me, personally right now, for realism. Take a look at the back design to see what I mean .
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/21 ... le_created

The back looks real, solid, almost like a photo. So your back would need to look more like it was a painting of a real royal crest or imperial seal. That would, for me, fit the Royal Portraits theme.

Keep surprising us! :D

I agree with Eric. I like the design over all but it needs some shading or gradients to give is a more realistic look. It appear as though it was line drawn then just filled in with color using a paint bucket. Just solid color.

Need to look more shaded and textured like the frames around the courts.

Great back! I think if you put a portrait in the Spade area the tuck will tie to the cards. Matte black with foil would be slick too.

Hmm... maybe it's just me, but I prefer having the whole design kept within the black background, but make the white border thinner to compensate. I find the gold gets lost in the white.

Same goes with the middle design. Maybe consider outlining the silver with a thin black line to make it stand out more from the white background. Right now it gets lost as well in the white. Perhaps all black just to see if it make a difference and let's compare it together?

As for the tuck, make the back design bigger. This is a Royal deck, so the back design should be bigger. You want it to grab the attention like you did with the front design. Big and bold, but lacking a picture. Maybe the QoS that I like so much? Or maybe a K? Or the yet to be revealed AoS design. You could have deliberately been saving that black space for your AoS. Knock us out with that!
