Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
In my opinion, Uusi creates the best court cards, and these are no exception. The back design is absolutely beautiful as well. It's always full customization with Uusi. Normally anytime Uusi comes out with any deck, it's automatically a brick order for me (except for their tarot decks, which isn't my thing), but these are printed by EPCC, what a let down. As such, I think I'll only pick up a couple of decks more for the collection than for actual use. I hope this gives Peter and Linnea the itch to come out with a new poker deck in the very near future.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
I have a feeling this was a commission job by the casino. My guess is if you can fund it, they will make it for you. Just get out your checkbook and be ready to write a big check. lol
Dang though $45 for a single deck. Shipping included though. Still, Ouch!
I guess this will be as close to a casino whale as I am likely to get.

Not really my thing, but I appreciate anyone sharing new decks here and letting us know. Especially decks not on kickstarter.

Good to see people jumping on board, I saw a few comments on Facebook too.
If the name of the creator was not revealed here, I am sure you'd have seen critical views about this deck like no bling on tuck, $45 - for a epcc deck and even some giving critical views on the art itself.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
Uusi, as great as they are, are not above criticism. Their tuck on their first deck, Blue Bloods, actually left a lot to be desired. Their early back designs didn't have the balance that their latter decks achieved, which is a testament to their growth as deck designers. But throughout their decks, the styles and techniques on their court cards are nothing short of excellent across the board. I think this may be my favorite back design from Uusi so far, and I love the use of colors.guru wrote:Good to see people jumping on board, I saw a few comments on Facebook too.

But yes, $45.00 shipped for an EPCC deck is very steep. I already mentioned my disappointment with the printer earlier in this thread. I'm in for only 3 decks instead of a brick because of this. Maybe I'm too much of an Uusi homer, but I feel even if we didn't know who the artist was for this deck, the artwork (not the price) still would've received mostly positive reviews because Uusi's work speaks for itself.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
This is definitely overpriced imo. But still I have to have it for the tuck which I think is really great. So I am a crazed collector I guess. In for a pair.

All I can say is that I wish I could afford to pick one up! Almost every UUSI deck minus one or two are on my wish list and I only have one myself (Brut) where I was able to participate in the Kickstarter and it is fantastic.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
Don't pay full prices for them on Ebay! Uusi still has many of their decks for sale on their website at regular prices. (Blue bloods Redux, Royal Optik, Bohemia, Hot Cakes, Classic. Pagan is quite pricey now, though) Furthermore, check out the Members personal sale section for very good prices on Uusi decks.Adonael wrote:All I can say is that I wish I could afford to pick one up! Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
The artwork on this deck is excellent, and if I didn't know it was Uusi, I'd still very much appreciate it. But, I wouldn't $45-a-deck appreciate it.
That said... I am a collector, and I hate to break up the set, especially when the artwork on this is really quite good. Yeah, I'm picking up a couple (albeit, not my usual half-brick).
Still... I think I'm starting to lose my appetite for Uusi decks. It's not that I find their work any less delicious, it's just the price point I'm starting to have a tough time swallowing.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi
I want to like this deck but it's not clicking for me.
The red Royal Optik is my favorite Uusi deck.
I was a lil' disappointed how the copper gilding on Brut wasn't good and it was pealing. I waited 2 weeks before I opened the deck. All other gilded decks I have aren't even close to the condition of really fading away like Brut.

Yeah, it looks like you are correct. I guess anyone that wants one will have to get one on eBay for $$$s. Those sure did go fast for $45 each.
Thanks Pierre for alerting us all about these going on sale.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi - Junkanoo
I think the problem with this deck is that if you acquire them for $45 each, I am not sure there will be much market to for reselling them for super-big bucks. Maybe having one or two available at a decent profit, but they may stay in inventory awhile. Heck, I was gagging on their $45 price. I wouldn't kick myself if I was a reseller and missed picking up several to resell. I would not be surprised if many resellers have a hard time moving them for like $80+ each.
Even so, I really do like the artwork they did on this deck otherwise it would have been a very easy pass.

Received my deck today. It looks way better in person than in pics. Great design and great colors. The gold foil detail on the tuck looks really nice.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi - Junkanoo
I got my decks today, and boy do I miss Uusi. The tuck is a thick matte stock with soothing blue and aqua inks. The foiling is subtle and tastefully done. The inside of the tuck is a darker turquoise blue. The vibe I get from this deck is that it's the Caribbean cousin of the Pagan deck. The pips are definitely borrowed from the Pagan deck, and I wouldn't be surprised if the medium used for the art is oil paint like the Pagan deck was. I just love the vibrant colors of this deck, and the courts are awesome as always. They didn't go with their signature diptych jokers, but that was probably because the Baha Mar casino wanted more traditional jokers. This is probably Uusi's least impressive AoS, but again, they probably made it more commercial than artistic to cater to the casino. The cards had a sharp odor that I haven't smelled in a while from EPCC, so I wonder if this is yet another different formulation for their finish. The handling is OK, definitely not from EPCC China. You buy an Uusi deck for the art, and this deck doesn't disappoint. It captures the Caribbean spirit perfectly. It's a shame these weren't available in larger quantities.

Re: New Very Limited Poker Deck from Uusi - Junkanoo
They only made 1000 decks and most of them were for the casino to hand out to their High Roillers... rare casino decks usually go up in value and I bought an extra deck to resell and offset my cost. But now I think I will just keep it and see given the scarcitysinjin7 wrote: It's a shame these weren't available in larger quantities.
