Hey Guys,
So I wanted to get an opinion on something. There are so many beautiful and amazing Kickstarter projects active right now. Some will succeed and some will fall short of goal. Everyone of these are custom decks (i.e. pips, ace, court cards, tuck case etc).
How would you like to go back to the roots for a few decks and stick with the basics? Custom elegant tuck case, custom pips but not over the top, custom ace and elegant jokers. I would love to see more decks with standard court designs but with a variation in the hue.
An example can be with the attachment. Purple back design and the court card designs will be metallic purple. Original uspcc designs not custom.
What you guys think?
Thanks!

Re: Back to the Roots
I think this sounds about right. I tend to like more "traditional" looking decks, but I am more of a collector and card player than a "cardist." I'm not a big fan of hue changes in the courts; I agree that if you must do custom pips, they chould be restrained, Cool custom ace is a must. I far prefer geometric back designs (like the one you've shown above) to dungeons and dragons and gothic-themed stuff.SeanWhelan wrote:Hey Guys,

Re: Back to the Roots
I agree to everything law_kid said, except for the changes in hue on court cards. I.e. if you're going to have the standard courts, their hue should match the rest of the deck.
I like that back design, but it would have to be without borders (no, I'm not a magician).
My thoughts on the "Back to the roots" concept is that it's a safer way to go compared to full custom which is riskier, but the potential is lower. A classic semi-standard deck would never rank higher than decks of Tendril and Seasons caliber, but it can still be pretty great.

It looks really cool and I love the purple but I think it needs something added to it.

Sean,
Weren't you working on a green version of this a while back?
I liked where that was going. What happened to it?
