Re: Moonshine Playing Cards - Feb 22
This looks really promising. If that AoS on the box depicts the hole pip design, it's gonna be a hell of a deck. I would love to see all the aces with that kind of effect.
I'm not too impressed by the back, though. I can relate those 'question marks' with Enigma, but what do they have to do with Moonshine?

Re: Moonshine Playing Cards - Feb 22
The Tuck and Back design look very nice!
I wonder if they're going with an old-world prohibition era look for the Faces?
It looks like they could be with what they've shown so far.
thanks, Randy

Re: Moonshine Playing Cards - Feb 22
I'd like them better if they were Bicycle branded. And sway is right... what's up with the question marks? I guess it's an apt design if they didn't know what to put on the back.

These are looking nice. I tend to look at cards as to what would look good in my collection or what would be good for magic (my cardistry leads to too many games of 52 pick-up) I think these fit both requirements. Will probably get a few of these bad boyce yo.

I wouldn't. I actually find myself getting turned off by the Bicycle logo these days. I feel more often than not that it lessens the uniqueness of a deck.vasta41 wrote:I'd like them better if they were Bicycle branded.

Re: Moonshine Playing Cards - Feb 22
Hey everyone, cheers for the interest and comments!
First I was pointed over by Jay from the Bicycle Facebook Page (?). I've known about this forum for years but haven't had time to chime in much (if at all!) since it's started.
Anyway, ask as many questions as you like and I'll answer as many as I can.
Starting off. Sadly, the face and pip cards, other than the AoS, 2 Jokers and 2 ad cards, aren't custom. This didn't come as a lack of creativity or laziness, rather, a luck of funds at the time. However, this is the first edition of these cards and every penny of the profit is being poured back in to the second edition. The second edition Moonshine Deck will have a matte finished, embossed and possibly coloured inside tuck box, with custom face cards. (I think I'm gonna stay away from any foil on the box, just wouldn't suit the style.)
As for the 2 question mark logo on the back. I'll explain. If you watch this short teaser for the Moonshine deck, you'll see at the very beginning a stinger for my company Enigma Ltd
Enigma Ltd was started by me and my friend and since this is a our first deck created, I wanted to incorporate the logo somewhere on to the deck design, as a sort of nod to our company and it's roots.
These were designed with a feel for an era in mind, as opposed to the design style or an era. If that makes sense?
Anyway, please feel free to hurl as many questions as you have at me!

Re: Moonshine Playing Cards - Feb 22
I like the look of this deck, very classy. Don't really know how moonshine plays into the design or theme, other than the liquor barrels that make up the Jokers. Maybe your court cards can look drunk, or holding bottles of moonshine in future editions. The lack of further customization makes this feel like a T11 deck, which is a shame. However, this is a good first start!

Moonshine comes from the vice centered around the Prohibition era, which you know, and I guess I'd been watching too much Boardwalk Empire at the time Also, I think the word 'Moonshine' just has a sort of charm to it.
I like your idea of the court cards being drunk... or ever mobsters (kings), dolls (queens) and drunks (jacks). We'll see.
It is a shame that I didn't have the funds for further customisation but hopefully if these sell well, I won't let any of you down in round 2!
Cheers again,
Lloyd

Welcome to UC Lloyd!
I'm a big Boardwalk Empire fan as well. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw your Tuck and Back designs! I like the question marks in the center. They matchup nicely with the other inner swirl elements and merge together to create one eye-pleasing shape.
thanks, Randy

I like the question marks too. On first seeing them I thought it referred to the distillation process used to make moonshine, with the swirls suggesting coiling pipes and the dot the dripping end product.
Re: Moonshine Playing Cards - Feb 22
Best thing for me is this back design. I love the art deco/art nouveaux 1930's flourishy mash up (intentional?).
Plus, I'm a sucker for a well intention-ed sepia tone.
Still not clear on the overall Moonshine theme.
But with backs like that, who needs faces?

from their facebook page earlier today
http://www.facebook.com/EnigmaLtd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Ok people a quick update. Sorry we've been away, we're at Blackpool Magic Convention as we speak. When the site launched, we didn't anticipate the amount of visitors as we got and this caused our serveers to crash... big time. So, we've decided to ramp up our servers so that we can handle it the next time we go live. We should be up again by Tuesday.
The good news. If you're at Blackpool, you can come and get your Moonshines right now! Just come and find myself (Lloyd Barnes), Geraint Clarke, Ben Prime, Owain B-Miles or just ask anyone to find us and they should know where we are. Thanks and we look forward to meeting you!

Hey everyone,
http://www.enigmaltd.com is now live. Thank you everyone for your patience with this, we didn't expect that much traffic to crash our server. And with being at Blackpool, things were manic. Everything is back to normal now, running smoothly.
Thank you all for the support!
Cheers,
Lloyd

Hey, my computer is fubar with a virus. I made it a bit better but I can not order anything. If anyone is picking these up and feels like parting with one or two please let me know. Much appreciated. I really like the backs of these. P.S. I am not looking for a freebie, I will compensate you, just wanted to make that clear.
